I don’t think Helltides are fun content for various reasons, but this just illustrates one of them. The only chest I could find required 175 shards, and I was only able to collect 148. I ran around the giant area trying to find another chest. I finally found one with two seconds left and just before I clicked on it, the whole Helltide disappeared.
This illustrates one of the biggest issues with them. Often times, you can spend that much time collecting shards and aren’t able to get a single thing for it. It wastes so much time, and it’s not even the first time it has happened. The chests shouldn’t immediately disappear after the Helltide ends, but should have a grace time of maybe five minutes or so, so you can at least run around and find one after it has ended.
Correct, and in that time I was unable to find one over such a huge area. I didn’t have the area fully explored, and so the entire map wasn’t revealed to me.
Helltides dot com - you’re welcome. Maybe they will add QoL one day that will not make this website required.
This webpage also shows you the events. Do the events in a circle between three of them. I once opened 6 mysterious chests in the hour with a party I randomly invited as I saw them. Most tides only have two mystery chests that rest at the top of the hour, but one zone has 3 chests.
Also, your map will show where all chests (excluding mysterious) are if you are in that area. It won’t say the price but you’ll learn that soon enough. Armor is like 75, 1h weapons like 125, etc.
I’m not trying to be condescending, you stated that you didn’t have the map revealed so you couldn’t see the chests. It sounds like something that you could prepare for and do better next time.
It seems extraneous for blizzard to add an extra grace period cause you weren’t ready. I get that it’s not easy to hear, but am I completely unreasonable?
The map didn’t show the chest on my map, likely because I hadn’t explored the area yet. I uncovered half of the map before it expired. I found the one expensive chest far up in the right hand corner. I found the second one in the middle of the zone, but I will never know if I had enough shards to open that one either. So even with half of the area uncovered on the map, only the two I physically found appeared on my map.
Or, they could design it better so you don’t have to do these things when they don’t provide any indication that you must prepare beforehand with external maps and ensure you have the entire world map uncovered on all of your characters first. It’s a simple thing for them to add to the game. Why you’re so opposed to it is beyond me. You’re talking about working around a design decision. That generally indicates it could be improved.
It literally has a timer in the top right the entire time. It also gives you a warning at 5 minutes.
The trick is to look for it while farming cinders. There are a couple possible locations for each mystery chest, and they were all known about a few days into release.
Alternatively, you can look up the locations on helltides . Com or any of the other sites that report them.
30 minutes for 150 cinders is also really, really slow. You gotta speed things up a bit. I recommend going around to events, as many as you can.
I typically do 175 in 10 minutes as a sorc, and that’s also not very fast.
You can get like a thousand shards per helltide.
There’s a continual clock on your screen telling you how much time is left.
I’m not sure what your problem is.
You’re asking for a “grace period”?
You’d probably screw that up too.
The mob density is pretty good in helltides. Perhaps even annoyingly so, I typically portal back to mark mystery chests on my map so I can get a break from the mobs.
You weren’t asking for an improvement though. You were asking for a five minute grace period to be added in your OP which is what I was responding to.
My point was that you are warned five minutes in advance of the end. At that point you gotta make a choice to push harder on farming or cash out. Adding a grace period is little different than adding 5 minutes to the timer only it makes it a no brainer on which choice to take. If the map was expired and uncovered by you previously then you would have been able to track down another chest much much faster.
