Why so much hate at Steam over D4?

You have zero evidence that consoles are the reason.

The mtx cosmetics is ridiculously expensive.
Patch that nerfed just about anything.
Numerous bugs.

Having half baked systems, compared to d3 does not help either.

Taking ridiculously long to lvl 100 is a killer too.

The above will tone down love for a game…

The graphics are pretty nice.

You are so wrong. If you can’t tell the difference between the monetisation of blizzard recently and a decade ago, anything I say will probably just go right over your head.

Hidden replies in this thread. Is someone actually trying to say monetization is as bad today as it was 15 years ago? lmao. If they are, they’re either just goofing around, trying to get a rise out of you or dumb as :poop:.

Does D4 have MORE cosmetics than some other titles in the last 15 years, sure, but it’s still cosmetics. Does it matter if they offer 10 items or 100 items? It’s still the same thing.

D4 does not offer anything they haven’t already offered in earlier titles, and you still have the same option you’ve had the last decade and a half. Don’t buy them. They offer nothing in terms of game-play.

If D4 offered P2W or any game-play changing content for money, then you might have had an argument. It doesn’t though.

Yeah old mate thinks deluxe edition, ultimate edition, paid “early access”, significant amounts of microtransactions, battle passes and accelerated battle passes, dlc/expansions, in game services, several real world promotions and promotions on other sites is the same as just buying a game and getting everything that comes with it for no additional cost…

Honestly I’m probably still missing something here.

Yeah, the facts. Basically everything you’ve just listed has been used in most if not all Blizzard titles released since 2004.

You can of course argue that all of it is bad, but arguing that D4 brought the features is factually incorrect.

Who said that?

Like I said, anything I say to you is clearing going to go over your head…

What does that mean then? Every feature you listed as “bad” monetization has been used in the majority of Blizzard games released in the last almost 2 decades, so why specify the release of D4 as particularly greedy?

Idk how you are convincing yourself of these things but let’s just agree to disagree ok?

Well, seeing as you’re wrong. No. For example, WoW, released in 2004, the base game and every expansion have had a deluxe and a collectors edition in addition to the base version, it has cosmetic MTX, it has various other paid features and that’s on top of a subscription just to have access to the game.

(And prepurchase of expansions generally comes with beta access)

So a 19 year old Blizzard game tics all your boxes beside battle pass.

Oh thanks, I knew I had missed something. D4 also came with a collectors edition AND IT DIDN’T EVEN COME WITH THE GAME. Can you believe that? Honestly I miss old Blizz…

It was a collectors “box” though, not edition, which makes sense as there are no physical copies sold of the PC game in the first place, it’s only digital. And I would say they are equally much a waste of money regardless.

The “box” could contain the key for the game. But it is a trash box. and 70$ + for game separately.

Yeah, it’s nothing like it was back then. Collectors editions are nothing. Today, it’s all shoved in your face often. It’s a nickel/dime scenario.

Seems like only :poop:y games do this now. All the best quality games may have collectors editions and that’s it.

You would lose that wager in hilarious fashion.

I think it’s more complex than most people see it. It’s a combinaton of different expectation, based on your gameing history, generation, real life background and over all an attitude of seeing the consumer vs. companiy relation. Also the evolution of the company. AAA companies are now, more buisness than ever, and the CEO’s and investors want to earn money from products ASAP. That leaves a mark on the quality that you were used to, D4 want’s to reach as many people as it can which also leaves a disparity in the community. Console gamers want more console type features, the game has MMO elements so MMO gamers precive it as an MMO and want more MMO type features AND THAN PC users and ARPG fans opposeing all that, and there’s the casual vs hardcore gamer arguements. Also Blizzards reputation plumeted with the allegations of it’s problematic work culture the past year, and how leadership handeled it. A lot of old talent leaveing and getting fired because of that, or other reasons. And if a title is a part os multiple serie franchise, you will compare the new to the previous titles, and also other games in the same genre. And as the nature of the beast, as some fans of the original Diablo hated D2 but it became a legendary game and built a huge fan base. D2 and D1 fans hated D3, but it was also able to build reputation and a big fan base, and i have no doubt that D4 will also go through the same process. D4 is in a weird position but it’s not bad, it’s different and passionate people tend to overreact. Or as they like to say “give feedback”.

You quote me on monetization and then don’t even mention anything about it in your reply. What am I missing here? I am just making the point that D4 is not as bad as some sheep would have you think. I did not say it was great either. But I have been enjoying season 2 and will be very happy to play some of the new end game content coming out in December. It is getting better at a nice pace.

I’m sorry, but is there a rule book about what can and cannot be in an ARPG? No innovation allowed? I really cannot see the point here. As to the second part, there is a thing called chat. People type LFG and boom… groups form. Are you unable to use chat for some reason?

Started hard and kind of like a headless chicken running around, unfortunately with the needed fixes they are also making it too much like D3, things are getting too easy. Id guess a large portion of the player base expected a D3 clone, while some of us older players that have been around for a while were hoping to head back to the dark and gritty D2 universe, and neither camp is 100% happy. Then add the 100% complete ineptitude with the launch and here we are. A game with no real identity yet

not really people will still paid full price 70 bucks but thing that people didn’t want is game asking them for more money after they paid full retail boxed price 70 bucks people will be fine if it was just expansion packs

if diablo 4 is F2P games people won’t commented too much on the in game store and battlepass instead they will focus on begging for game improvement like overwatch 2 players
