Why everybody care so much for offline mode?

Sure. Just wanted to point out that they could be wrong - so the posts that keep popping up about ‘Blizzard decided to do X so we cant talk about it’, are kinda silly.

Not really. Just pointing out that anecdotal evidence is not particularly good.

That certainly is the difficult question. I dont think we know the answer to that.

Well that’s easy you said

Which clearly states you want an offline mode than you turn around and say

You have already said you want offline for reasons and then say you aren’t arguing for an offline mode when you have already listed why you want an offline mode

And wanting it and saying as such IS a request for it, you even listed why you wanted offline mode

Yeah? Just answering “their only option is”.

What, no, the sales does not tell us that. Also a significant part of those copies sold ARE NOT ONLINE ONLY!

You double your made up number to prove a point? This wont get us anywhere, which was my point.

It’s kinda silly to call that decision “stupid” or saying “it makes no sense” or loudly demanding offline mode and expectiong something to change.

It may not be 100% foolproof, but it does have value.
You can’t dismiss low-key evidence outright.

If there was any definitive and not anecdotal evidence for either of sides - we’d probably have heard it by now.

Really now? Are you serious?
Tell us which do you think is most probable, at least.
Because that is the question that Blizzard would ask themselves when deciding on offline mode.

I disagree. While those examples might not be particularly helpful, they are about the topic, rather than ‘attacking’ the opposition, trying to silence the discussion.

Probably that it is a loss in sales, but my point is I doubt it is as one-sided as some believe, and the potential loss could easily drown in lower player satisfaction (lower sales down the road) - and I certainly cant rule out that offline mode would increase sales overall.

I’m not trying to silence anything, I don’t need to do that.
I’m merely saying I can see how that behavior can be considered “funny”.

I didn’t mean you. The people who keep posting Blizzcon videos and post that Blizzard has decided.

Yeah, fine, it’s not an argument against online, you’re right.
It’s actually another fallacy, I’m pretty sure. Just not sure which.
Appeal to authority seems like it, but then again no one really can say that Blizzard is an invalid authority for their own product.

To be fair, there are people just as silly who keep asking Blizzard for confirmation as if they didn’t already have it.

Why everybody care so much for offline mode?

because, for some reason, all offline threads from some D2 fans are tolerated and never closed, making them think they still have a chance to impeach the firms decision makers.

i call it impeachment syndrome.

Probably true - though I dont really see many people doing that. But my point was that they are at least directing their posts at Blizzard. Not at some kind of “opponents” that they feel like they need to silence.

That’s just because official word doesn’t happen to be in their favor, not because they don’t want to silence opponents.

Few people care about offline and it is more of they want the save feature so they can save and replay the area they keep dying in because they are terrible at the game

Dammit. They figured us all out.

In my experience, Diablo has been more of a single player game, so there’s no reason to force me and millions of other players online when we don’t want to play multiplayer or anything like that. By forcing us online you’re only restricting how often we can play and potentially reducing the quality of our gameplay.

That’s why having an offline option is so important.

The reason Blizzard keeps threads like this open is probably because

  1. Its a valid topic of discussion
  2. There’s enough people who support offline mode that to silence them would be unfair
  3. Including it is is still a possibility
  4. They haven’t decided, and are still looking to be persuaded by good arguments

3 and 4 are kinda similar and could be combined. But I wanted it to seem like theres more reasons for it. Hey, at least I’m honest. You’re not gonna get a lot of that on a forum, right?

Offline = more good sh1t for us. There. I SAID IT. I spoke like a consumer. I will go into the west and remain Galadriel.

Also, players should never experience this for a game they paid good money for

I took two days off from work when D3 launched 8 years ago. I didn’t even get to log on during that time.

Even when you logged in, you had rubber banding, Day 1 crew represent

EDIT

Seriously? I cant include links in my post even when its a quote?

For me an offline mode would be really important.

I live in an area where Internet is not stable and a lot of people don’t have fast/good Internet at home.
Also I don’t mind if I won’t be able to play offline chars with others, if they would be separate from online chars.
I know people who don’t care about playing online with others. In D1 and D2 you don’t need to be online and it works perfectly.

How does that you ended up with that conclusion? I said my 40 friends will buy D3 despite that they don’t like always online feature and you said the other 40 people will not buy it because it doesn’t have offline mode. Piracy will win both of 2 groups over if they exist.

What was the console sales for D3? Last time I heard it was around 1 or 2 million sales at best. You are not going to say that the console version sold at least 50% of the D3 total sale, right?

Considering that Blizzard doesn’t want to make D4 offline for the console version is probably because the piracy from the console for D3 hurting them as well.
