Here’s how…
complete the campaign on w/e level up to act III. You don’t need to complete act III just make sure you have the quest ‘Machines of War’ check point. If possible get a friend to give you that checkpoint which makes this a lot faster. Go to bridge of Korsikk
next look for Caverns of Frost (if you get icefall close game and start again) go in and kill Chilltara. Rinse and repeat if you she doesn’t drop the Gemstone for you. What makes this so effective is that she is guaranteed to spawn if your map generates caverns of frost whereas finding her on adventure mode isn’t always 100% EVEN if Caverns of Frost is generated.
on my second attempt after using this method she dropped the gemstone. Also took me about 20 minutes to get to the “Machines of War” quest.
Good luck I hope this helps

Completing the campaign up to act 3 just to get to her is the exact opposite of ‘decently fast’

when you weigh it against the odds of getting caverns AND getting her to spawn it’s well worth it.

Chiltara spawns almost every time now when Frost Cavern is up anyway in adventure mode.
If the Campaign mode upped the drop rate of the gemstone this method might be worth trying. There is no evidence of that though.
As it stands now, the gemstone drop rate is the main limiter here.
I was on a bounty run yesterday, on T16 and Act III had “clear the Frost Caverns.” I didn’t expect much but when I got to the last minion, it was Chiltara so OK, it spawned. Then I killed the beast and… the Gemstone dropped. It was my first “attempt” to get Chiltara (and I was not farming for it) and only the 3rd round of bounties I had done for Act III.
Afterward, since I now had the useless gemstone, I figured I’d go after the plan for the Staff so I hunted Izual. I did need to kill him twice, though, the rat bastich. Only the first one had him as a bounty.
The real problem was, as usual for me, getting the mushroom… I probably had to reload the Cathedral 40 times before the little room with it appeared.
On console, I don’t need the other things, so I just bought the Bell and made the staff. I don’t actually need it yet, but when it comes up as a sacrifice, I’ll have it.
Moral of the story – it always feels harder to get something and fail when you’re actively seeking it then just letting it occur naturally.

Had it first time I killed chiltara on Americas, had to do many runs on Europe.
Did on Europe server the campaign one. Chiltara spawned 100% of the campaing runs.
Well technically you get Chilltara more through the campaign since she is guaranteed to spawn when caverns of frost spawn. I’ve tried both methods (adv and campaign). I got the gemstone on the second spawn of Chilltara on campaign. My buddy tried adventure mode for hours and many times she didn’t even spawn. but only took him about an hour on the campaign method.
I guess it’s different for anyone…anyway I just thought this alternative might prove better than the normal way.

worked for me took about 2 hours in total to level and then spam the quest… didn’t count how many kills but it was well over 20+
Now unlike many I cannot find that Black Mushroom, ran act 1 well over 50 times now
While I did do it that way, I’m not entirely sure it’s much faster. If you do it on adventure mode, you have the advantage of seeing if the two bounties pop up that indicate Frost caverns will not spawn (the glacier bounty and the clear ice cavern bounty). That way you can instantly reset the game and try again.
So in the campaign mode, you’re attempting to look for the caverns many more times than you would in adventure mode. I’m just not sure the 100% chiltara spawn makes it faster or not. Seems about even to me.
I ended up getting the stone last night on adventure mode T16. Pushing a 110 on my PoJ monk was tedious, but I managed. Now I’m enjoying the Alter benefits on my alt DH. Got my first double primal drop in a GR65 with my alt.
Agreed. That is why I think the people who get too frustrated should stick to trying during bounties or half an hour here and there in between other things. Although I think I have mentioned this in a post a quoted you before…
I decided to just go for it yesterday afternoon. Was in a mood where mindless grinding could be done so I decided to spend the rest of my day’s play time to get it. From 13:00 till about 17:30 and I got the gem two and half hours in and the rest afterward. If I didn’t get it with this first session I don’t think I would have done a dedicated long one again.
