This season, the Staff of Herding is being talked about again. Although I myself consider this item completely delusional and useless, and the search for its reagents a real mockery, nevertheless, I seriously believe this item should not be completely devoid of meaning as a weapon. It’s still not just an inventory shi, it’s a WEARABLE item that you can actually pick up and fight with. But its characteristics are just zero. Why?
Let’s first make it always an ancient item, and secondly give it the usual characteristics like any staff. Why not? You can also give it some funny affix. It should not be OP, so as not to increase the player’s capabilities in the grifts. But it could be something for fun. Since it’s a staff of HERDING, I think it should have an affix for pets. I suggest this:
“increases the number of pets by 2 times (without increasing the numerical buffs) and speeds up their attack”
That is, for example, necromancer will be able to drive 2 times more skeletons and resurrected ones, but this will not make his Rathma set 2 times stronger. And WD for example will have 6 gargantuas that do really damage, but let’s remember that the player is holding a two-handed weapon and thus giving up two really useful items. Therefore, such a build will not become something particularly strong, it will still be grassroots, but it can be used for fun and pumping additional characters.
Despite all of the above, I believe that finding the staff should be SIGNIFICANTLY simplified. Even if the drop of each reagent will have a 100% probability, just going through all 5 locations and getting them is already a certain amount of time.
You can also make the necessary reagents drop from uber bosses, which no one is interested in either, otherwise you will raise interest in them. 4 bosses, 4 reagents.
When the staff first appeared in the game, it led to a secret location where few people were. Then it was on the hype. But now there is a rainbow goblin, everyone knows the location. There hasn’t been anything special about her for a long time. Therefore, the prohibitive complexity of finding reagents is no longer needed.
And further. If the reagents fall out frequently, it is obvious that some excess of them will form over time. Therefore, there should be an opportunity to spend them on something else. I would suggest them as resources for crafting primals.
I ask for your likes in support, ppl.
