Developers! If you want to make the game “friendly for everyone”, return ultra-wide support! Close it for pvp if it gets in the way, but enable it for single player! To exclude it entirely is an idiotic decision.
You have to get a zoom and tilt to maintain a square and equal field of view with a wider screen.
Obviously, the alternative is black bars.
Alterative does not have to be black bars, upon game creation there can be toggle box for 21:9
Spell casting could be limited into 16:9
There are plenty of solutions going around in the forums that don’t have to include black bars on ultrawide monitors.
We really need some blue post to end this, it would be nice to know on what ice we are walking.
The game was made for 4:3 - you want black bars on your 16:9 monitor as well…? guessed not It should simply work on any ratio, without question. This is what was announced, and what people already paid for. They can surely make a hard limit for PVP - since that is where it may get unfortunate, but 95% of the users will not care about PVP, and a few years from now most people will be on ultra wide or more monitors, then everyone will wonder why on earth they made a remaster, and mess it up so bad that they enforced a ratio that was about to be outdated.
I don’t care about PVP I care about full-screen SUW support. Because I’m playing this for nostalgia not PVP, HOTS exists for PVP, No one NO_ONE plays Diablo 3 PVP no one plays Diablo 2 PVP, its not a good system for that, never was.
Also further to the point I planned on buying this across multiple platforms (Switch to compliment my pc copy) as well as under at least 4 other users (my family) but only if it supports a screen format that is worth me buying it for, I already don’t play this beta and im thinking of just refunding.
And since the switch form factor is a wide screen i suspect we will get black bars there also?
Seems to me there are 2 viable options to deal with screen support, support all modern native single panel formats or go back to 12:9(4:3) exclusively if the game can only be balanced for it’s original aspect ratio i respect that otherwise let people play with what they want, the majority of my play time will be on 16:9 or 3:2 but i do have access to a 21:9 and i would like to play on any of them natively not just my console.
Speak for yourself. This isn’t diablo 3. Pvp is my favorite part of end game.
3440x1440 here and no black bars at all. Fullscreen.
MSI Optix MAG342CQR 21:9
here is a screenshot.

as you can see black bars.
and that’s for 50% of the screen.
Add me to the list in favor of 21:9
However I won’t get involved in this childish back and forth. Pretty sad many of you are “adults”.
The black bars have got to go.
I guess this would also have nerfed any multi head system support also.
and i’m still wondering if it nerfs console screens like the Nintendo switch which is a UW format.
and we as ultra wide players should also use the news media in addition to this forum it’s way more effective to get all of this out to the public then even blizzard’s investors will see it and there will be hell to pay for it.
I have no problem on 3840x2160 i can play full screen no black bars.
/facepalm … sometimes you just get so tired with people like this “King”… jesus christ man.
you can’t now the beta is offline now muhhhaaa (joking )
Has there been any word from the devs about the black bars?
Haven’t seen any.
I’ll post this here as well
After discussing it back and forth for days, I think we’ve made some valid points.
- Make an option to toggle 21:9 support upon creating game
- Find a solution so spells are not cast beyond 16:9
- Allow ultrawide users to see on 21:9 because ruining that already messes with game’s visual experience on 21:9
- Don’t allow targeting something beyond 16:9 but make it so that if you click on 21:9 area, your character still walks there, for the whole thing to feel natural.
If you want to pvp in 16:9 you can just uncheck 21:9 support in toggle box so any incoming user with 21:9 would have black bars.
Ultrawide users wouldn’t have teleport range advantage because you wouldn’t be able to cast teleport beyond 16:9, even in 21:9 game.
Ultrawide users wouldn’t have to acknowledge those big black bars on their screens and everyone would be happy.
