Last Epoch recently let players take a survey. Would you all appreciate taking a survey for D3? I personally would love to. I believe it would make players feel better overall about the disconnect between the devs and player base. What do you all think?
We donât need trade in D3
Devs do not care. Whatâs good for business and whatâs good for the game are two different things.
First rule about surveys, is donât talk about surveysâŚ
I choose to be more optimistic. Based on the fact that they provide new seasons with different themes and changes to existing items. Coupled with the fact that they actually take PTR feedback and make adjustments. I feel that random surveys would make some players feel more in sync, connected to the future of the game.
Blizzard does do surveys.
This is the info about them and how to opt in for extra surveys if they need.
Otherwise the surveys are done a few ways. Part of the Alpha/Beta, sent via in-game mail (Immortal), or sent via email - randomly select bnet accounts that fit the sample criteria.
Is this D3 focused? Since I do not play any other Blizzard game, I am solely focused on D3 input.
The research team supports all Blizzard games and services. Their tasking depends on what data various teams request.
D3 does come up in some surveys, esp ones related to demographics, playtime, etc. I would gather this is marketing/promotion related survey data to go to those teams.
The first rule of surveys is not to share the survey though so I would not know if they have done any detailed D3 surveys lately.
However, if the Diablo team wants other info, they most certainly have the team and methods in place to execute said surveys.
If Blizz plopped out a D3 specific survey, it will be trolled from the Burning Hells and back, then rinsed and repeated until Blizz takes it away and it is forgotten forever.
No because the questions would be stupid and divisive. They wouldnât be offering a trading option where people would have to grind to get a trading key (which is probably useless since the grinding time will often drop the desired item anyway) which could be converted into an XP boost or crafting materials, or sacrificed to buy something from a trading vendor. So that playing without trading is slightly more efficient than trading.
They wonât put up NEW ideas that make the suggestions viable. ATM trading is posted as binary opposites. Able to trade and get scammed and third party sites selling gear for real money, or No trading, no community incentive, insta salvage best items in the game. But they all completely ignore the middle ground and a survey will completely ignore the middle ground too.
Really, I donât want to be forced to trade, BUT, if I get an awesome, item I donât want to use, Iâd love to make sure it gets used by someone and I gain something in return. I also would rather trade for things that involve content that I hate grinding through. But I want to do so in a safe way and not all the time. I donât want to farm an AH. I want to farm monsters and when I get a chance to trade, I want to choose if I want to trade or not. And I want that choice to be meaningful and not a no brainer.
I donât want the cost to be âLearn how to scam people to get the best deals, and sell your soul to be get the best items. Learn some third party website. Learn the trading value of all items.â No I want to play the game. But just as easily as clicking salvage, I want to be able to trade so I can enjoy the game more and not be crushed by sucky RNG.
Point being, A survey would never consider a balanced meaningful choice where everyone gets what they want. Surveys are about âWhatâs the majority want?â And the majority want either 1 side or the other and are woefully divided where they refuse to allow the other side to have any ground at all in the fear that they will be screwed over if they allow the other side to get ANYTHING.
Surveys donât encourage a middle ground. They take the most popular concepts and get people to vote on them. And âallowing the competition to have all they want as wellâ is NOT a popular concept.
At least they will be more active with the community with D4.
IMPROVING THE GAME
With each season weâll be looking into ways to simply improve the player experience. As a live product, we intend to hold Diablo IV to an exceedingly high standard. We are here to build a live game that we can be proud of, and the best way to do that is by engaging our players directly.
Based on feedback that we receive, the team will identify quality-of-life features and polish work that can be done to improve the overall game experience and invite the community to vote upon their priority. While we cannot always flip a switch to tackle something immediately, you can rest assured that we will be active in improving the quality of the game experience for years to come.
If weâre talking specifically about D3, then no I wouldnât care much for surveys, especially if the questions arenât about anything I really care for, and/or little to no feedback is taken from the survey for the development of the game. Call me pessimistic, but I see surveys making very little difference for D3.
Communication was never a strong part of Blizzard. HGC cancelling, etc. They donât do roadmaps like other games. This comes with benefits and drawbacks.
If you give a clear What comes next, then you are going to be pinned down. Personally I like roadmaps, because they at least give the feeling of developement. But If the game fails financially and the plug is pulled it feels so bad.
For what?
D3 devs donât give a F about players opinions (unles youâre a streamer, with some dumb idea to improve your own channel). How many times, PTRs, players has give feedback and has vanished in deaf ears?
Given track records any unwanted âpinning downâ will be met with equal force from the player base.
Letâs have a survey about haveing surveys.
The game is 11 years old and weâre still getting new content for it. While I donât always agree with the direction of the game, Iâve spent over 100 hours playing in 12 different seasons, including 3 of the last 6. D4 is coming out in a couple of months. Iâd say that people who want to complete surveys should focus more on d4, d3 might not be headed for the waste bin quite yet but itâs going to be a very low priority going forward.
That is a step in the right direction.
I try my best to not argue someoneâs opinion. I can only speak for myself. D4 is a HARD PASS, even if they let me take surveys lol. I might change my stance on D4 after I see the direction of the game through several updates/seasons. I do wish all those migrating to D4 the best of times. Hope you guys have a blast and thoroughly enjoy the game. ![]()
Make a D3 survey. A simple one. 20 questions. I am curious to see what the results will be.
Youâre right ![]()
