SOJ and Sunwuko TR Lightning stacking (Flurry?)

I missed about five years of d3 and returned this season, I plan to play the next season coming up.

I don’t understand why using Stone of Jordan (SOJ) to use Lightning damage, to apparently stack a multiplier from the 1h weapon that has lightning damage on it, even though we are using the Flurry rune of TR. Then if you switch back to Unity and remove your SOJ then you go back to stacking cold on amulet etc.

I’m missing a chunk of basic knowledge here. How can I learn the reasoning behind this?

I was also pretty confused about poison damage on weapon and the Soul Shards in the current season and I don’t want to go back into d3 another season being confused if I’m using the correct elements of attacks and armor / gear.

SOJ gives all elemental damages the same damage percentage as your highest elemental damage percentage. If you lightning damage percentage is your highest without LOJ, LOJ makes your cold damage percentage equal your lighting damage Percentage.

Poison Damage on weapon is important only for Souls Shard season, in case you use the Essence of Anguish that gives 50% extra poison damage (yeah, it kinda works for all damage as long as you have poison range on your weapon).
Next season is free cube, so you don’t have to worry about things like that.

So basically because the Tempest Rush weapon has Lightning you just stack lightning for Stone of Jordan. Also thank you, because I didn’t notice that legendary power on Stone of Jordan. So if you have one element bonus it affects all elements or whatever rune you are using.

Yeah next season is free cube, although I’m playing Monk and Crusader which both don’t really need the free cube that much lol.
