The song “Tristram” from Diablo 2
If you listen really closely
Tells a story follow along to this while you listen.
Starts off with a very Grey, wet, cold place.
A place of honour and pride though.
Guitar pause…
A place where weary travellers and great warriors visit. A safe haven, if you can call it truely safe, from demons.
Warriors pack up with supplies and venture out to save the world from here.
The next line of guitar is the line that shows a glimmer of what this warrior wishes to see and accomplish themselves. Yet it seems so distant after all this darkness.
We then follow the song… and the story of a nameless warrior to the next part of the song
This is where it transition from the soft undertone of the warriors glory snap back to reality as the hard strums on the chords bring us focus on the goal.
The next change in guitar is the song of the warrior battling seemly carefree through the hordes of demons
Then suddenly!!!
The guitar is obvious here
A demon appears that is of named enemy quality to slay.
Immediately transitioning to thoughts of that Grey camp and knowing this is only going to lead to the same repetition as before.
BuT NO!
Guitar transitions into this elegant solo that depicts a battle as though it were a Showstopping Dance number.
All the while knowing that regardless of OutCome this battle is what they truely yearn for.
Yes they Desire Glory and fame.
But the glory of the roads of battle along the way is where true happiness lies.
We transition again
Back to town after they’ve slain the demon and collected the loot.
It doesn’t seem so grey now.
That battle revitalized the warriors blood
They Feel that push to save the world again.
Even if they arnt much closer, they are making a difference in the battle and have a better impression on all travellers through town.
They all fight for the same cause.
The music transitions into higher notes.
Someone has spoken of a new EVIL back down that same old battled road …
Someone had…
A QUest.
The music excitedly climbs.
As the warrior slow motion jumps into battle…
Black screen.
This song beautifully captures the game and the story
