Seasons are just an excuse not to create real new content for the game, and instead just rehash the same old content over and over again.
Don’t do Seasons again in D4.

Seasons as an introduction of mini expansions is ok tho.
Well then what do you suggest OP?
Like do you want them to call seasons “leagues” so you feel like you’re at home or something?
Every arpg needs a season/league.
I think Seasons and rewards are cool. I just wish they would not spend so many development hours every patch on wacky new ideas, and instead focus on item and skill updates.
Yeah, I agree, I don’t see the point.
It’s like finally finishing that model plane you spend 3 months building and then just put it in the cupboard and start building a new one. Never doing anything with the one you just finished.
And doing it again, and again, and again.
Replace Seasons with EVENTS.
A continuation of the game itself.
The real reason seasons were introduced…
Because they removed paragon caps (which broke the game) and bots were/are out of control getting people up to 8000, 9000 and 10,000+ paragons.
Regular players, even those playing 5 or 6 hours a day, were left so far behind they gave up.
Introducing, SEASONS, a fresh start. Everyone is at Zero.
Sure Bots are still thriving, but 3 to 4000 paragons isn’t excessive when non botters can easily reach 2 to 3k paragon a season. I’m a 4ish hour a day player and this season am at 2600.
A lot of ‘fixing the game’, ended up breaking the game. Trying to fix the breaks, led to other issues, and so on.
Look, it’s not broken, trial and error is a part of life. But I don’t enjoy being handed loot every 20 seconds.
Vanilla, one Legendary a week was cool, not one a minute.
No beams of light for guidance thanks, let me hunt for that item, a small glow is good for me.
Yellow dagger with 3% life per hit, yes please.
Also, no more 6 piece sets. 2, maybe 3 max.
3 set bonuses, one defensive, one damage, one resource/cooldown.
Or try 2 damage and go glassy.
But yes, agree with OP, not seasons.
Sounds like OP prefers paying for upgrades and rare items over having to actually work for them. Seasons is a great way to introduce new transmogs, pets or other stuff for FREE with a little work unless you are one of those lazy little kids that want others to play the game for you or you prefer paying for the items.
when in borderlands 3 there is new content
it gets put into the game and you have to farm for it
no new character, no reset
just new content to farm for
thats it
What difference does it make, it’s not like seasons will be a requirement
By your reckoning I should put my hand up and say get rid of GR because they do the exact same thing
Open a rift and get unknown map and creatures, excuse not to make any new content because open a GR and get a multitude of different scenarios
I think this is an interesting conversation and maybe isn’t so black and white. The first game that I experienced “Seasons” in was Diablo II with the Ladder system. I was an avid Diablo 2 player and I played both Non-ladder and ladder characters.
I loved the race and the rush of early ladder. I can still remember when I was a part of the first group to kill Hell Baal on US West on my Amazon, or a few season priors when the first night my friend and I got a Jah drop very early on when farming Chaos Sanctuary. It also had ladder only items which I was very excited to get transfered over to non-ladder so I could use it on my pvp characters.
Non-ladder also had a place for me, I would keep perfectly geared characters there that I used for PK and TPK games. I had a lot of fun perfecting those characters and getting items like 20/20/10 annis, full sets of 45 lifers and 20/17s and 20/5s. I enjoyed going from struggling ladder characters to the culmination of all my work from many seasons to fully perfect characters.
I think Diablo II had a great balance and great system of balancing seasons. Diablo III, I think because of the lack of pvp, there is no real reason to play non-seasonal characters anymore. Especially with the later seasons and power creep that has come. I went back to play my Demon Hunter from season 3 that had many hours invested and now “Charsi” feels worthless.
I’m not sure if this is taboo but PoE also has a good way of making the seasons draw people in by introducing a new mechanic every season. These can sometimes be great pay-offs that make the game better and will reappear in future seasons and become mainstays.
I also think POE has some definite areas for improvement. The game progresses so quickly. You get to the end game cycle within a couple hours once you are good at the pattern. Diablo 3 suffers from the same problem.
I suggest they actually work on creating and developing new content.
D3 could have had an expansion every year.
Original D3 doesn’t have Season/Ladder during the launch and they got destroyed and torn apart by the diablo community so hard they have to hype season/ladder in the RoS.
I figured that they learned their lesson well not to repeat that incident unless they really enjoy getting insulted by community, then they can do it for D4, no ladder.
I really like them. It keeps it interesting and relevant. The game is really fvcking old now, we’re lucky to be getting anything at all.
Seasons are going to be in D4 did you even bother to watch any of the Blizzcon panels?
David Kim : Yeah. Of course we are going to have Seasons in Diablo IV. The main goal for Seasons will be to change up the player experience whenever they play from Season to Season. We don’t have all the details worked out yet in order to achieve that goal; but I want to give you a very slight example for it. Right? So if we just look at just the Legendary items slides, that we can maybe talk about, we are planning to introducing brand-new Legendary items to Seasons.
On top of that, we want to spotlight sub-sets of different Legendary items from Season to Season, so best builds and what you are exploring can change a little bit. So I am not saying this is the only thing that is going to change the player experience. Of course, we are going to try to hit it at all different angles across the whole game; but that is our goal; and we will, of course, have more information to share in the future on the specifics.
This is why I started keeping a few “special” characters that I had a lot of fun with and going back to play them in non seasonal every now and then. Play one in season and then if I get bored I switch to my previous project that is another class.
Whatever… Seasons are fun and they keep D3 alive. Please do seasons again in D4.
Seasons are the only game to play.
OP lives in a wigwam in a museum somewhere that doesn’t have
electricity.
Those seasons also doing a great job in dividing Diablo Community.
I’ve seen both camps go at each other all because of GREED and LAZINESS Of franchise owners. That’s right, upper management needs to know why they still pay D3 devs, and those devs have to show numbers on seasons participation to justify their job position. But because said management won’t provide additional funding or staff, here we are all playing a game of pretending. Management pretends that they keep D3 alive and running, devs pretend that they put work into it and players pretend that they are liking it. Can we cut the BS already?
Because, as someone else has brilliantly put in other thread, I’m tired of being treated as black sheep just because I have no interest in starting all over, over and over again every few months. I’m tired of bringing players on both sides and reminding them that we are all in the same boat. I’m tired of beating old drum that all players that play legitimately and paid for the game deserve equal respect regardless of the play style they enjoy.
But most of all, I’m tired of corporate snakes that destroy everything that I used to love - Terminator, Fallout, Star Wars, Warcraft 3 - the list goes on and on.
yes, this is done because there hasn’t been REAL content for 7-8 years. content can very well be sold non-stop. other top projects are doing very well and there are no cheap excuses. a solution was found for everything.
there are also top suggestions in the forum that can be easily implemented! I’ve read quite a bit here in the last 2 month and I can only hold my head … how the hell can they ignore something like that and produce a nonsense like s21-s22 season theme!!!
primitive example: every good developer knows that attention is focused in the middle. but the guy makes a small icon at the bottom left, which you have to search for the info with your mouse … or many look at the Grift status display … NOT EVEN THERE HE HAS PLACED THE INFORMATION !!! in all good wow add-ons you can move the display with information NOT JUST THAT!
even animals have more intellect … I don’t even know how one can hope for a sensible implementation in d4 and CONTENT. have you forgotten what kind of mess there was on the d3 release? when i saw that everyone get killed with a hit later i immediately uninstalled d3 and didn’t play for months. that was not the ALPHA version!
Do you really enjoy working as entertaininment?
You don’t like seasons, don’t play seasons - problem solved. Wasn’t that easy?
