I dislike set dungeons as well, but knowing which dungeons are super easy helps with getting past this ridiculous road block.
I find the easiest one is Thorns crusader…you literally stand there and get hit to complete 1 objective…then use 2 cooldowns and kill 5 elites to master it.
Yeah I feel like not having them is the best option. As cool as it may be, it would feel like they were ushering some more power into sets than they seemed intent on.
Set dungeons are actually one of the main reasons I haven’t finished the seasonal journey every season I’ve played.
Just so you know, its always going to have the set dungeon requirement for the journey. It has pretty much always been a staple of one of the journey requirements. The only thing that really changes from season to season is which boss at each difficulty level and the conquests. All of the others are pretty much always the same.
Each class has 1 brain dead easy set dungeon to do. Collect that set and do it.
I agree set dungeons are just an annoying part of the Season Journey, I don’t have any issues with them myself and mastered every set dungeon, but I can very much understand people hating them being forced upon them.
That said, I can’t say where your limitations lie, but a few set dungeons are incredibly easy if played right so maybe this will help a bit.
Barbarian Immortal King -https:/removeboldtext/www.d3planner.com/348735223 Cast Ancients and when you see first enemies Wrath of the Berserker, start spinning and don’t stop.
Just recast WotB on time (numlock it if you have to) and clear the dungeon.
You shouldn’t need any reaction speed at all.
The Immortal King Set Dungeon’s two unique Primary Objectives.
Kill every Elite while the 1500% damage bonus from the 6-piece bonus is active (Ancients are up killing and collecting resource for you, just keep WotB up and kill everything).
Kill 150 enemies while in Wrath of the Berserker (same as above).
I’m pretty sure you can do this one!
If you don’t want Barbarian, Crusader Akkhan and Invoker are pretty doable, Monk Sunwuko isn’t hard if you use Kyoshiro’s Soul, Cyclone strike as a pull skill and a secondary skill for killing (TR/EF or WoL/EL are both good opties).
The monk Raiment of a Thousand Storms one can easily be cheesed with a group of friends, provided you can run to the end in 2 minutes. You run to the end, your friends go killing everything in the dungeon.
Also, from what I remember the Necro ones are pretty faceroll. They are the only ones I actually one shot the very first time I tried them. I’d say that the Trag’Oul one is quite simple as you would just have to smash buttons for the entire dungeon.
edit: there are a number of Dungeons that can be cheesed with a group of friends, and I’m sure you could find people to help you.
I hate set dungeons. Having to Master even ONE is INCONVENIENT and IS a MASSIVE PROGRESSION WALL. I can’t use my current build to master any of them.
I absolutely have never liked them, and just can’t seem to “master” one with any of the classes I actually enjoy playing. Absolutely infuriating to to keep failing at.
I’m pretty pissed off about it. I actually want this seasons little gobblin pet.
It’s me TrvAix. I like set dungeons. Nice to meet you. I’m sorry you have slow reaction time. Sorry to say but the philosophy of how many stash tabs are given out was based on a set skill level. The developers had a number in their head of how many stash tabs to give out, and set the bar high enough for some people to get the tab, but not the most casual.
If you don’t meet the requirement, I’m sorry. But don’t take away my fun for the season. Skilled players need something fun to do and work towards.
I’m proud I have the max amount of stash tabs and a lot of cool portrait frames, wings, and other cosmetics.
Are set dungeons imbalanced? Can’t tell, cause this season I did one for the first time - Wrath of the Wastes.
Was it hard? Yes!
Did failing it feel frustrating? Yes!
Did mastering it feel rewarding? **** Yes!
That was actually the task of the journey I enjoyed the most. All the other tasks are “grind to this point”. This is the only one that makes you do something challenging.
If set dungeons are imbalanced, then Blizzard should balance them. If set dungeons are outdated, then Blizzard should update them.
Should Blizzard remove them from D3? I don’t think so. If you want to avoid challenges and “sail on a calm sea”, then don’t do them. If you want a reward, then you have to earn it.
Should Blizzard add them to D4? I really like that they confirmed reducing the importance of sets in D4, so I think set dungeons won’t be part of the game. On the other hand, I would enjoy similar challenges in D4. It doesn’t necessarily have to be tied to a set. Just a balanced challenge that requires fast decision making and reactions, good mechanical skills and persistence.
The problem I see many have of set dungeons imo is not spending time to get the proper gears and stats on gears. It’s understandable, you complete the set dungeon and may never need to use the gears again. But prepare with proper gear make a big difference.
The cool thing ( some with disagree) about set dungeon is you are gearing to complete objectives, which is refreshing than kill as fast as possible and personally I find it okayish to take time off GR to do the set dungeon.
I believed the rathma set is summon certain amount of mages to kill all mobs. Just wear the ring that grant 2x mages and use singularity to spam mages and just make sure your mages do enough damage but not too much. So there is some fine tuning involved.
I play other classes as well, just not yet this season; we are 19 seasons in.
I detest that I’m forced to reconfigure my whole setup just for the “mastery” portion. It’s one thing to have to complete them, but forcing us to “master” them is too much of a progression block.
seriously? lol. play barb and make the IK build, you literally just have to walk thru the set dungeon and roll your face on the keyboard and you get mastery.
i find them frustrating and only do whatever is necessary for the season journey but i do like to chase achievements from time to time, so it’s nice as a carrot to chase while working towards other seasonal rewards. Not something most players even think about after the 2nd or 3rd day of season honestly. They’re usually the last thing i do in the season journey though haha. Luckily most classes have at least 1 set dungeon that is braindead easy… i’d say all of the necro ones are super easy.
haha, i usually just set aside a tab and drop gear in it til i have the cookie cutter build for the braindead one (IE IK for barb) then knock it out sometime in the first weekend of season.
I put on immortal Kings. Equip obsidean
Walked in . Press wrath and ancients. Gg. Thats it . All i did past that is walk around while my ancients killed everything.
I understand you might have a medical reaaon reaction time wise but if you cant do that set dungeon you dont stand a chance so Conquests like the Thril of doing high Grs to level gems unless your just being carry
Set dungeons are fine
