My flail and shield had sockets added by the socket consumable before they were sanctified. Once they were sanctified, the socket disappeared in both items.
yeah it completely rerolls the item mods and all, in season you will only sanctify some random armor base that you have extra. The chance you hit the right power and the right mod rolls and hit ancient all three are gonna be pretty damn slim.
