S36 Challenge Rift(s) - CR429-437

CHALLENGE RIFT 429

DO NOT PLAY BEFORE SEASON START IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE CACHE FOR SEASON PURPOSES!

Necromancer this week.

AMERICAS/CONSOLE:

Pretty straightforward and easy Rathma build. When you enter rift use Army of the Dead on a group of monsters (after you used Bone armor on them). that should give you 10 corpses that you should use Revive on.
Push forward, if needed Command Skeletons on an Elite and us Army of the Dead when it’s ready.

EUROPE:

Pestilence build, pretty weak and slow.

You have Focus and Restraint rings in the build; I recommend trying to have it up at all times (cycle Siphon Blood and Bone Spear for that purpose). Otherwise use Corpse Explosion (as you have to target the corpse area, and you still lance out automatically). On single targets (yellow elite/RG) you can use Corpse Lance, as it does a tad more damage. But in that case you have to mouse over the target.

Good luck!

Let me just say that I appreciate you and your efforts. You’ve helped me through an otherwise annoying CR more than once with these guides.

The EU one is quite annoying. After a few times trying I managed to be 50 seconds ahead at 90% progress… so at least it’s doable.
Literally the worst first floor, especially without movement abilites. But you get a Power, Shield and a Conduit (floor two) pylon. That helps a lot.
Otherwise just always try to move ahead, keep the 25 stacks from your 4-set bonus up and use the Golem ability to create more corpses (and to make him catch up with you when he’s off fighting stuff a screen down :triumph:).

Yeah. It’s not the hardest Challenge Rift I’ve seen, but it’s definitely annoying, especially if you’re going into it blind. (Americas & Asia are fairly simple though).

As with you, it took me a few times before I got my rhythm to get a comfortable enough lead. Especially at the very end, it will eat up a ton of time, so it’s one of those Challenge Rifts you’re going to need a 30+ second buffer for.

I’ve tried several times, and I can’t even reach the boss before the timer runs out.
The build is horrible, the levels are horrible, and the golem’s intelligence is on par with whoever chose this CR for the start of the season.
And frankly, I don’t want to get tendonitis because I have to spam the body explosion.
Seriously, if there’s still a developer on this game, they should change this CR, and quickly.

As with the video, you really just need to focus on Corpse Explosion mostly for killing monsters. If you don’t want to spam Corpse Explosion though, yes, this Challenge Rift is going to be horrible.

Thx

I think I’ve found a “trick” for this Rift challenge.
If I understand correctly, the Rift challenge can be done in a group, which makes it easier. So I’m going to try to do it in a public game.
And strangely, if I believe another post, you can collect the reward even in SSF.
It’s not logical, but it suits me.

You are correct about being able to do it in group, even with players across SSF, non-SSF, HC.

Good luck!

Just to be clear, I created the private game and invited the other player (him in HC/“normal” mode, and me in Soft/SSF). I’m not sure if the public option is available when playing in SSF mode.

We’ll check this out during the next season.

The EU CR will be way harder in a random group, trust me. Nearly impossible! Solo it is quite doable, I did it in 6:33 (6:51 is the time you need)

I’m going to try it anyway in a group because I know I wouldn’t be able to do it alone. I’m going to try 2 or 3 times and stop. The goal being to save time for leveling, it would be silly to waste too much time with that. Dommange that the developers can’t understand that the CR at the beginning of the season MUST be easy.

This is my point of view. Try it a few times (solo or multi).

If it doesn’t work, just wait for the next one.

If I remember correctly, it didn’t hurt/kill anyone to wait a few days.

Challenge Rift should be a challenge, otherwise they should just hand out a free cache when someone makes a seasonal character. The vast majority of CRs (I only do NA) are pretty easy anyways. The vast majority of CRs is also clunky and unfun, but that is another issue.

The biggest challenge is often just trying not to have a stroke while wrapping your head around how “some people” actually play these “builds” on purpose, on their own characters.

Nobody & no-one plays on these builds - the people that makes these should be burnd on stakes.

And again - tried to do on EU servers - no gonna happened.
1st try on America - no problems.

I do understand our cousins over seas need some ‘help’ on things but this has been more than ‘few weeks’ now.

Put same challenges on EU too.

I would say the EU ones have been all over the place the last 2 seasons.
I’m still pretty newbish, yet some CRs were so easy that I beat them on my first try without looking at any vids. Some required a few tries. And some were undoable for me, even after watching MadTom (obviously they weren’t undoable for more experienced players. But for me: couldn’t figure out what I did wrong and what I needed to change).
Wasted an hour today an EU CR and was lightyears away from doing it before I quit. And now I’m anti-enjoying season start since I actually don’t really like the 1 to 70 process even after opening a CR reward cache and pimping my season char. Whithout that boost it’s even worse for me.

My strategy on CRs which works 95% of the time on the first try is:

  1. Determine what the “BOOM” button is and map it where I like that skill.
  2. Determine what the generator skill is and map it where I put that skill.
  3. On the very rare occasion the build has mobility or buff skills map those to my other skills.
  4. Do a quick walkthrough to see where the maps go and pylon location.
  5. Move from elite/large mob pack to elite/large mob pack and kill.
  6. Profit

  1. Corpse Explosion - already on 1 where I would’ve put it as well.
  2. Siphon Blood - already on LMK where I would’ve put it.
  3. Hex/Debuff/whateveritiscalledagain thingie already on 4. And Bone spear for the other half of focus/restraint is on RMB where it should be
  4. Done 3 or 4 of them and watched the vid a few times. One run just looking at MT’s skill usage in case I missed something
  5. Yep. Luckily, first 2 levels are fairly linear, so you do that automatically
  6. Fail

I have seen some others do it faster by skipping the Blue elite on the left side near the Power Pylon.
That way you get in the RG spawn area (there are actually 2 elites), and when you kill those elites you have more Corpses around to finish off Vesalius faster.

thanks for the hint, maybe I give it another try.
