Thanks for the tip, song, Nate and me scored a good amount of ethereals, just ran out of rings. It seems level 5 to 9 you get 2 to 3 from the boss. We also noticed once we got to 11 it seemed we didn’t get a drop 100%
This is why you have a Level 31 character (Witch Doctor, DH, Monk, Crusader). Speed run a few GRs to get some blood shards, then gamble rings on your Level 31 character. You should get a puzzle ring or two from your group.
Running solo, I was averaging about 4 puzzle rings an hour. Now, obviously in a group of 4 you’re going to get significantly more.
This feat of strength originally sounded like it would take awhile, but now, it’s actually very tolerable.

Here is my findings thus far:
Doombringer appears to be the one that drops the most, I have gotten 6 of these.
Gimmershred appears to be the 2nd most common as I have gotten 3 of these.
The Grandfather appears to be pretty rare, I have only gotten one of these.
puzzle rings are not dropping for me, I have tried some of the cheap ways to get them for another characters but I had no success with zero drops. So I gave up. I don’t have Necro so it fools gold anyway.

here is my method,i’ve collected all 21 ethereal @pc,i just start console yesterday,not quite sure it’ll be the same…first.make a toon that u can speed @GR90(max leg items drop lvl),spent the blood shard on a lvl 31 wd(excactly 31) for ring,there’s only 3 of them,1 is puzzle,collect as much as poosible,around 25 maybe(mistakes do happen sometimes…)then create any toon,make it to lvl 5 on normal,then change to t6,go to greed,DON’T kill any thing(u need illusory boot here,run straight to greed),just kill greed,a ethereal will qurantee to drop at lvl 5(sometimes 2),rinse and repeat,have fun guys.
Ya, me and 2 others collected all of them yesterday, we probably used close to 30 or so rings combined and you don’t need illusionary boots if your demon hunter is lvl9+ we would remake our guys once we hit level 11, however once I collected them all I stayed on my one guy and he got to 17 and an ethereal would still drop but rarely. Before lvl11, we would get 2 to 3 drops per person at 12 it was iffy if a weapon would drop.
Also, the difficulty level we used was only “Normal” T6 is not really required to get ethereal drops from greed between level 5 to 10 (side tip, you can enter the puzzle ring at level 4 and 1 bubble of xps and killing greed pushes you to 5 and you WILL get to loot the ethereal weapons).
I just started the season today and got an ethereal drop within the first few hours on expert. It was for a WD, a class I’ve never played. I just play barb. haha
I got the 3 for the WD within a day…Level 70 and mid tier Rifts…still nothing for my Monk which is my Season Starter. I’ve been running the 7 Strike Exploding Palm Build day one of season and finally got the pcs for the Tempest Rush…put it together and within two hours got two Monk Ethereal.
…and a friend started Season yesterday and got her Ethereal running her first Rift…think was like Level 10 something like that…
