RNG needs a tweak

S30 is finished and only 2 nodes on the altar to go but that may never happen due to rng.
So far I’ve had 3 primal ancients (1 from Kadala) and 3 Ramaladni’s gifts, ( 1 from another player).

Never had such a bad run and given I’m drowning in shards, mats and $ you have to wonder what is going on.
I do know how rng works and that after your compulsory primal after completing a GR70 it is possible to never get another primal in the season.

Don’t normally post in forums so i’m over due for a sook.

You need to play more… If you don’t have all off the Primals to completely unlock the altar by P1500, then you are really having a lot of bad luck.

I recommend speed GR’s (like under 2 minutes GR90+) for the best effect.

I’m P1700 SSF in the season now and still didn’t get any Primal from Kadala. It’s how D3 RNG works. My main is on EU. MadTom#2218 - Community - Diablo III

Primals are on average 1 in 400 legendaries. Note: on average. That allows very wide swings of luck.

I got my pre altar unlock primals from mostly running fissures. They rain legendaries more than speed GRs. And i had to get 8 as i primalised a puzzle ring.

Playing more doesn’t help when you are not getting them. My grand daughter just ran into the same thing. She went for more than well over 1300 drops. She was in the same boat. She has only got 3 in all the time she has been playing.

Now her step grandma has got 16 in the same time of playing. She gave her 4 of them to help with the altar. But she still needed 1 to finish it. Plus both of them are at almost 1200 in paragon & playing time.

She was at 1800 in soul she use 900 in the cube no ancient. She built it back to 1600 use 700 in the cube no ancient. She built it back to 1400 use 500 in the cube no ancient.

Then she was in a game and one guy was doing screams. She did get one and she didn’t use it she needed that 1 for her character. Then in about 3 more screams she got another one. That she could use in the altar and now the altar was done.

The thing is at times the RNG in this game is really bad. But that is part of this game you have to live with. The thing is you have 2 people playing the game the same amount of time. Basically the same thing on everything. You have one only get 3 and one get 16.

Then the first thing somebody throws up here the DROP RATE!!! To me there is no drop rate you get what you get when you get it!!! No matter what you are going after in the game.

In short: the drop rate is a BigRed Herring…
Happy hunting.

Try crafting some Set items at the Blacksmith. Craft items you wouldn’t use, so you’re not tempted to hang on to them.

From another post

I crafted 80 Demon’s Restraint Belts tonight and got one that was Primal.

As a matter of fact: Right after crafting 80 Demon’s and getting a Primal Belt, I crafted 120 Guardian’s Case Belts before getting a Primal.

She just told me that she has got 4 primals in less then 150 drops. Yes she even tried to upgrade rares too. She has like 20,000 W’s, Y’s & B’s with like 6000 DB. Plus she was trying to get a ancient Quiver. After about 50 try’s she did get one in the cube. The RNG is very bad at some times in the game.

Plus I see my Troll Buddy is here!!!

RNG is just that, random. Some people get the materials sooner than others. Almond Joy’s got nuts, Mounds don’t. That’s the way it works.

Increasing the drop rate won’t change anything except make the progression faster for everyone. With years and years of power creep addition, the game is already fast enough as it is. And the last thing the game needs is “pity drops”.

Playing more/more efficient does help. It by no means mean you will get one in 10 mins, but it does improve your chances.

It also seems to be overly good sometimes? :+1:

This season I had to craft 80 Cap’n Crimson belts to get one ancient, and it wasn’t usable, so I had to keep going. RNG can be a real jerk sometimes.

Indeed, it can.

lol the only valid way to fix the issue of RNG, and you don’t address why it’s bad?

At best, gearing should be a blend of random and deterministic. Any game that even has a chance to not reward you for your effort is unplayable garbage.

Pity drops would make the game more predictable, and in the long run more boring.

As far as obtaining “teh uber lootz”, Diablo is a battle against RNG. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to play it. If you think RNG is a garbage way to handle loot drops, maybe it’s time for you to move on. Bye?

Im just the oppisite I’ve gotten most of my priimals from
kadela go figure thats RNG for you lol.

RNG needs to atomized and scattered across the universe. At least the way Blizzard does it should be.

I just want the Mysterious Cave to show up once. Once. And then the “Mysterious Chest” be in the Mysterious Cave. Also have had 1 primal drop so far other than the guaranteed. I’ll complain about that in a couple hundred more Plvls. Seems like 2 minute 100 - 110’s aren’t enough. Don’t get me started on re-rolling an orb 20 (TWENTY) times and not receiving one measly ancient. I’d like a new character that doesn’t have cursed RNG this season PLS!

In my opinion the RNG problem with primals was fixed when they changed them from the original with the crazy stats back to just perfect versions of ancients.

If they made some pity system with getting tri/quadfecta gloves or some of the painful shoulder rolls it would have a bigger effect on character power than with primals.

Funny thing, in early RoS there was a “pity timer” for legendary drops:
