The old R6 generator builds were squishy. Does the inclusion of Capt. Crimson fill in the defense gaps while keeping the power of the build?
How does the single gen. crimson build differ from the duo gen. crimson build in playstyle, gear, defense, offense? What are the trade-offs?
The trade off is Unity or lebvre shoulders = 50% mitigation. OR CoE on HC.
Unless you can gear 50% RCR to compensate, a stat R6 Gen does not support well. damage range, area damage, even att spd competes with it. So captains does not make this bd tankier, its on the contrary unless you trade massive dmg stats off.
You should not need CDR at all, unlike Uliana EP. 10% CDR goes a long way. CoE is 40% damage on average, so captains needs 40%+ CDR to be on par. On top of the RCR stats, its just not viable. You are heading towards optimized zmk territory.
You can ditch CoE and use Unity. However, gen damage is so low, its not going to clear high w/o CoE.
Single gen drops another damage buffer for utility tools. On HC i can see a point, but soft core? not really viable.
Traditional R6 duo gen still the best form of R6 Gen for pushing. This build is not for speeds. Until blizzard fixes this outdated set, this bd is not for low paragon. Personally, @ 4k its barely playable. Gaming experience starting to raise @ 6k+
I read this thread during the day and wanted to answer but celtic put it in a nutshell. The R6 build is a 0 cdr 0rcr build. That would mean you need to drop something for crimson, or you go with your 10 cdr / rcr from para + the 20 of the set.
I tried it out and I droped CoE for it: It really works since you can stand more, did a (hope I do not lie) 110 with it with ease but my gear is far from being good and my WoL would do a 110 simply faster and safer.
I’d also say that the r6 build just starts at 6k para, that was my personal feeling about it since i tested it some day and I did a retest on last ptr with caldesans on it. An ally of mine likes that build, has about 3.5k para and also states the build is not playable for pushing purposes for him.
Another thing with crimson is that you need to drop WH for it. ias is one of the core stats of the build to simply not die (more uptime of FD, more regeneration). You’d simply die without it. If you aim for 2.2 aps unbuffed in town, you can test the build by putting all your para into vit (or lets say 1.5k para) and do some runs on 105 - 110ish level. You will see crazy amounts of lifereg (gen gem) and your lifepool playin yoyo. You will go crazy at knockback or other cc effects but the fun thing is that you will be able for a 105 clear with almost no dmg (lets say 1.5 mio screen dps - my innas wol has 5, lod 3.3 or so and I even play it with a non anc amu). Its absolutely fun to see what the build seems to be capable of but without those crazy paragon amounts for massive armor buff (and dmg) you will not be able to be on one level with the wol build, even if it theoretically deals more dmg.
Thanks gents. I was thinking about the RCR for the defense and not really focusing on the CDR for the damage given the iAS and AD demands of the build. Below is a planner based on the R6CC build listed in diablofans:

The damage reduction is at 86.75%. 90-95% is probably needed to avoid serious HP yoyoing or another form of damage absorption for HP sustain.
You dropping life can hurt your healing from Simplicity Strength. One of primary reason CDR (and ephiphany) was ditched in the first place. The original duo gen r6 geared 50+ cdr and used ephiphany.
Exalted Soul is 380/330 ~ 15% dps, you can option to trade this for Beacon of yytar. Replace diamond with amethsys if in need. You need lph some where, bracers, one of weapons OR high enough HP to make 4% SS passive worth it.
Both of your weapons better with AD than 10% or dex . If you go down the CDR route, i d suggest you replace mantra with ephiphany or inner sanc or serenity. Part of reason this bd needs ridicouls paragon is you need a form of anti CC, armor can replace mantra at high paragons.
CC probably wont dish out enough burst for 13x in my experiences. Eventhough the average 40% damage is there, the 200% CoE burst is not. Elites simply don’t drop fast enough w/o CoE on the 132 i tested.
Your d3p looks pretty neat, if this is the playstyle you prefer, go for it.
The fisting and kicking play style is fun but it is partially driven by vanilla D3 nostalgia. I merely took the info. from the d-fans build guide and plugged into D3 Planner. Even if the CDR was yanked from the build I was mostly looking at the RCR for the defense it would provide.
I tested r6 + crimson without unit. In theory, with all RCR statistics, we would have 53% damage reduction.
However, it gets worse than with unity (idk)
