You can have an action bar or a belt of potions, not both.

I didn’t think it was needed. I liked how it always was.

You can keep it how it was. Accessibility options are options. You can even opt out of auto gold. Been watching some reviews on youtube from beta, and action bar is mentioned quite often, some even opting to play on controller JUST for the action bar alone. When they announced this remaster, they said PC first. PC primarily plays with mouse and keyboard, shouldn’t have to use a console based apparatus to gain a skill bar.

They shouldn’t add it because it changes the game too much. Controller needs the skill bar otherwise it would be slightly more terrible than it already is.

Come off your high horse. Adding an action bar to mouse and keyboard will change the game no more than having controller support that has it anyways. Leave it as a toggle you have to opt into so it doesn’t hurt your eyes to look at something that was in Diablo 3. Don’t like it, don’t use it. Hell, I actually prefer the legacy ui menu bar placement more than the new one and have put official feedback as such for more UI customization.

Gonna have to disagree with this. A skill bar would actually change the game and make it easier. The UI layout would have minimal impact on gameplay. I’m ok with controller having the skill bar since it was difficult to play on overall compared to mouse and keyboard.

Hasn’t VV’s take on the game been “Easier to play, not making the game easier” An action bar does exactly this. It gives visualization to what skills are bound to each button (an accessibility feature of it’s own), and it simplifies the switch then click process. It is doing nothing to alter the difficulty of the game, only making the skill gap of utilizing your skills more accessible. Now, if the game FORCED you to two skills and two skills only, or were forced to select those skills through the mouse button menus with no hotkey system to switch, then you would have a completely valid argument for it changing the game (though at that point, it SHOULD be changed).

I think I would probably play with the original method, but I would not mind at all seeing an action bar.

VV could have added a skill bar to PC, but didn’t. If they make the game any easier to play, the game will eventually play itself. It’s not that hard to change skills on PC, as you are spamming one skill most of the time anyway.

The game should definitely get a skill bar as option on keyboard and mouse.
I play it on pc and use a controller to get a skill bar. Saying it changes the game too much is a lie
When you play a build like elemental martial assassin, the old pc system is just pain and feels totally outdated.
With a controller it will be such a relief.
I already feel it with every other char, hell even on barb it’s so good to use every cry without having to click keyboard shortcut then mouse.
I really, really, can’t understand the point keeping a totally outdated UI.
Well, I’ll play with controller.

From a game design perspective; generally speaking, when the user or player is doing something on a meta-level above just playing the game normally the developer has done something wrong. There is no mechanical difference to binding Chain Lightning, Nova, Frozen Orb, Teleport, Town Portal to Q W E R T and then using an external mouse program to also Mouse2 Click when you tap those buttons. The difference is that the developers are forcing the player to work around their designs.

Adding a Skill Hotbar or just a Quick Cast feature in General like Dota 2 would be optimal.

Clearly, that’s why every single other games use a skill bar. I won’t switch back to keyboard untill there is one. If they don’t, I’ll stick to controller.
Tbh the sensations are really good with vibrations and sticks, and it allows to play on your sofa watching a huge oled TV, which is really comfortable.
I just don’t understand the so called “veterans” ( which I should be as I played D2 day one for like 12 years) who claimes every single change will destroy the game. This is just plain false, you have to live with your time, and as clicking gold was horrible, so is the old UI.

This wouldn’t work for the Paladin since you also want to be using an aura in addition to your spell. But you can’t use the aura on left click.

IMO only being able to use one skill at a time is a core part of what makes D2 unique. Maybe mods will add this.

Adding the ability to place Auras on Mouse1 and Attacks on Mouse2 would indeed be favorable to Paladin Players. This would allow them to hold down Mouse2 and comfortably attack any enemies they encounter automatically, as opposed to clicking on every one individually. This also applies to their spells like Blessed Hammer where conventually players will hold down shift to cast it.

F1 thru F10 is your action bar…

With the Mouse 2 action open you can create shortcuts by mouse over and then F1, F2 etc

The specific Buttons are not what is being discussed. A player can rebind them at will. What some players want incorporated is a Quick-Cast option like seen in Path of Exile or even Dota 2; where a player can simply press a key allowing the spell to be cast directly without having to hold down a Mouse button to do so. This allows for faster casting and more versatile strategies in battle as one can quickly dispatch multiple spells without having to frame perfectly press Mouse buttons between them. As stated above: There is no mechanical difference between adding an option to Quick-Cast locally within the game and a player writing macros for themselves where a Mouse button is also pressed any time a spell’s key is.

Yeah but that would make the Paladin feel no different than a sorc. Every class would feel the same if there was a skill bar, kind of like how it is in Diablo 3. I don’t think it’s worth putting in a remaster.

This fear is a little bit bewildering.

How does allowing Paladins to have the same abilities they ordinarily would have on swapped buttons make them feel like a Sorceress exactly? It just allows players to use Melee attacks to attack move and spells without holding shift.
