PTR 2.7 [Wizard]

I was trying to think this through…

TLDR: I think this build will clear between the mid 130’s at low paragon to the mid 140’s at high paragon. And this is a likely setup: https://maxroll.gg/d3planner/303923519

So, assuming we’re looking at FB only and not interaction with Tal…

Well, first thing that strikes me is that the damage is essentially flat, right? No matter what skill you hit with, an enemy takes 30x weapon damage * 41x set bonus * 50x combustion stacks. And for a primal level 70 weapon, either a wand or sword, with +10% dmg, your average damage per hit is roughly 2230.

So that’s 2230 * 30 * 41 * 50 = about 137 million damage per hit, within the context of “just the FB set”.

I think other multipliers that are pretty safe to assume are Deathwish (4.25x), OoID (1.4x), Mantle (1.25x), EW (2x), and Trapped (1.6x), so that brings us up to 3.26 Billion damage per hit.

I think there’s a pretty high chance you can also cram Crimson into this setup, and if using the Enchantress with the new CDR ability, your CDR can reach as high as 70%, so that would be 1.7x, damage up to 5.5 Billion per hit.

After that, it’s a question of what hit-rate you can actually apply. Off the top of my head, I would guess that you will hit the fastest by pairing Zodiac ring, Pain Enhancer, EB: Chain Reaction, and Wand of Woh. I remember fooling around with this back when Etched Sigil cast any spender, and the rate of EBs was quite incredible. Obviously, ES is out of that picture now, but I don’t think I was using PE then, so that probably more than makes up the difference.

If we’re assuming that this set can’t proc AD, and you max out CDR in all the obvious places, plus wear Crimson, you’ll end up with about 70% CDR. That brings the CD of EB down to about 1.8 seconds. Assuming that’s the only cooldown you are offsetting with Zodiac, I’d expect it to be reset very quickly… with some AS on gear and 15 PE stacks, you can get Disintegrate to tick every 7 frames, or about 8.5 times/second (and that’s not even looking at Zodiac procs from EB itself)… anyway, I’m not even sure what effective attack rate we’re looking at here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you can hit with 5 or more EBs per second.

Even without PE, you can still get a 10 frame Disintegrate. This might be preferable since it lets you add Taeguk…

Ok, let’s just do some spitballing: add Taeguk to the multiplier pile (1.8x, up to about 10 B damage per hit), and assume you are hitting with EB roughly 5x/second, so about 50 B damage to each enemy within range, per second.

Now I’d like to do something a bit odd, which is compare that damage output to Leapquake. Not just because it’s my favorite build!-- but because it does its damage at a fixed rate, making it easy to calculate.

So for that, it’s 4314 damage per hit (using 2H Mace with +10% dmg) * 7.5x Weapon Damage, per quake * 9x stackable quakes * 201x set bonus * 9x Tribes * 3.5x GoG * 1.5x Focus * 1.5x Restraint * 1.6x DIBS * 1.6x Trapped = 10.6 B damage per second.

So, that’s considerably more damage, “straight-up”, for FB, when compared to MOTE. That said, MOTE deals a lot of AD, while FB may essentially not deal any. If you’ve got 150% AD and 10 enemies packed together, your damage is basically quadrupled, but even then that only brings MOTE up to about 42 B per second, still less than my estimated FB figure. Only at very high density would MOTE do more damage.

So, if I’m right and this build is going to generally compare favorably to MOTE, I’d expect it to clear maybe up to 138 or so at 3k paragon, and into the mid 140’s at high paragon (8k+).

If FB does proc AD, on the other hand, I think it’s game over: this thing is going to 150 for sure.

This is roughly what I think an optimal setup might be: https://maxroll.gg/d3planner/303923519
