Primals should go back

Primal ancients need to go back to the way they were when they were first introduced to the game, maybe slightly modified. Right now they are a “sometimes perfect” version of the items we use, at best, but they don’t feel superior like they should, for the chances we have at finding them.

In my honest opinion a primal ancient item should have 25% more on all primary and secondary stats.

That’s just power creep. And to make it even worse, it’s completely unnecessary power creep.

If it were up to me, I’d remove the entire item tier and retroactively convert existing primals into normal ancients. It was an idiotic decision beyond belief to add primals into D3.

Primals are fine as is. Maybe add some special cosmetic effects to them, make them look nicer when equipped.

They are pretty much ancients with perfect rolls, however due to how RNG works on stats created on item when you ID it, 95% of them end up being DE for 15 souls, as they will be worse than a good rolled ancient.

That’s my fear. I haven’t found a primal yet, but I expect it to be utter garbage. It would make them more interesting if you could reroll multiple affix slots, and the results were always the best value (similar to how the cube works).

There’s still the RNG of getting the affix you want. I don’t know how many times I’ve gone broke in a season trying to get the right affix before giving up.

But then, the way some people talk, it rains primals for them.

I’d prefer just being able to modify more than 1 stat at the mystic… even if a 2nd modification cost 10x, 50x, 100x the resources as modifying the first stat…

Or even the option to enchant a 2nd affix but locking the first affix that you’ve enchanted.

They will never do such a thing. Being able to build your own item the way you want it for your build will completely throw out the window the whole concept of loot drops / hunting.

Think about it, if any of those would be implemented, you could pretty much start from a rare - yellow item, and get a primal through rerolls, then perfect that primal with enchant rerolls… and do this for every single piece of gear your character uses, having perfect primals in every spot.

Why would you keep playing the game for after that? What would be the carrot on stick to keep you going or come back to the game season after season? More… paragon? New portrait frames? ^^

Come on

In theory you are correct, but in reality, you’re over simplifying it. If re-rolling a second stat at the mystic cost lets say 1000x the cost of the first re-roll, that’s 1k death breaths, 1k forgotten souls, 15k veiled crystals and 5 k arcane dust… up it to 10,000x, then the average person might be able to reroll a second stat on 1-2 primals during a season… would require some massive farming to pull off your dream scenario of everything being a perfectly rolled primal (I mean first you got to get that primal to drop, lol).

I mean I know blizzard will never do it, but their currently RNG formula is pretty garbage. Maybe if they just got rid of some of the absolutely useless options for items it wouldn’t be so bad.

Which would only help botters really. They are swimming in mats, and will continue to do so, no normal player will spend that much on a 2nd stat reroll and be broken, when next day that primal could drop again or be made a primal by reforging the item at way lower cost.

Also if the primal you invested so much into gets an update in next patch, you just wasted so much just to start from 0 again.

No season toon will farm bounties and run 24/24h nephalems outside of bots.

People will prioritize and play however they want, just because YOU wouldn’t farm for the option doesn’t mean others wouldn’t. And if you’re logic is ‘it’s not worth it bc blizz will just nerf it next patch’ then you need to find a new game to play.

Just because something would be MORE benefit to someone who plays 24/7 doesn’t mean an average player who might play a few hours a week couldn’t get some benefit, so I just think that’s a bad mindset to have. Obviously, the people who play more have way more benefits (more chance at perfect rolls, more paragon, etc), and that’s how it should be…

In the end blizz will never do it, so it’s a silly thing to argue about, but there’s nothing more annoying in this game than breaking down the primal you’ve been waiting to drop all season bc RNG sucks balls.

I’ve found maybe 50 primals so far, I’m using less than 5 of them. They’re more likely to be useless than irreplaceable.

Although i am not in favor of extra stats n powercreep the current situation is not appealing as well

İt is hard to get a primal and when u get it if it has bad rolls it is garbage

İ favor the 2 enchants at the mystic at least then u know when u get a primal it will not be owershadowed by an ancient

İ think primal should always be on top of ancients (not necessarily overpowered)

You’re making assumptions about why I play. The endless grind with little no reward or advancement gets old. The fact that someone has 50 primals and only uses 5, while I have 0, speaks to the poor return on time invested.

The seasons I played and enjoyed the most, were the two I found rainbow goblins early. Just the little boost to hitting level 70 with a marquis ruby in my helm, made the process more enjoyable. The seasons I was the least satisfied with, were the ones where I had tons more of the ACT 1 mat, and still could not get a RROG (or is it RORG?), or couldn’t find even a badly rolled Hack for my thorn-sader, or dart-dagger for the WD, or whatever the item was, that I needed to try out a particular build. And this was after numerous runs, crafting, BS spent, etc.

The sense of zero advancement after a week (though I know it wasn’t zero, paragon counts for something) made the game feel stale. Layers and layers of RNG can get tedious after a while, when it doesn’t go your way.

Plus no one is suggesting one be able to start with a yellow and get a perfectly rolled, custom Primal. I’m pretty sure we were talking about having more reforging options for them.

Again, I have ZERO primals, so I don’t have any skin in the game. But, if someone can find 50, and only 5 are of any use, then the system is broken. And those 5 had better be perfect in every way.

The primals should have been a more organic and reasonable approach to upgrading gear, than what we have.

Terrible Idea < Insert Other 20 Characters Here >

The only thing I would like changed in primals is the possibility to roll an extra stat in the Mystic. It’s just so hard to find one that you need and sometimes it’s just rolled so bad you can’t use it.

Long ago I found a primal waste chest. I was super happy. As we know primal has maxed stats. I looked at the ancient I had and the stats were like 2-3 off in str and vit from being maxed. I still used the primal. But it didn’t help me push more greater or a reg any faster.
I’ve found multi of the same primals.
3 of the bracers that give move speed when destroy object.
2 of the same ww swords.
And a lot of primals that just won’t get used
The follower had more primal gear on than I did.
When an item drops in d3 it’s just called sword, chest. Helm etc
D2 had names for all the items. So you could run past drops that you knew weren’t good.
That’s what I think ppl miss about the drops

Easy to solve this. Allow a second modification at the Mystic for Primals… no power creep and primals are immediately more useful. I special transmog for primals would also make them cooler… imo
