Not like D3 paragon. There should be a hard level cap, not an endless grind. Why not go back to what works?
Not everyone will race to 99 the same way not everyone races to world first in WoW. However, it’s a great option for competitive players who want to go for it.
Paragon sounds fun but just isn’t. 99 Cap is just better. The combination of end goal, room to improve your character each level, the power increase not being too dramatic but noticeable, the difficulty to get there, just felt great. I imagine it is a lot easier to balance the game when there’s a cap also. PvP is also better without paragon.
They could’ve added titles and cosmetics if they wanted to add additional rewards for working towards/getting level 99.
Is Paragon related to char or to account cose if it is the second it’s puregarbage!
you can do leveling with no cap, but so hard to obtain, in d2 u can beat the game with lvl 7x, when you get level 8x u are experienced in hell after many runs, lvl 99 cap is nearly only got in softcore easily.
You don’t need to put a real cap just make sure to put a logarithmic progression/regression and it’s ok no one will get much far from your decision on what max lvl should be. with a good progression maybe after 10 years of playing u would have been lvl 120.

My concern is not how level or paragon works, it’s not D2 vs D3.
It is spending 2 years grinding for gear and then have an expansion drop that adds a new level cap and invalidates my last 2 years of play.
Add content, add items, add new ways to play and new systems. The WOW paradigm of expansions is ok for WOW is it needed in Diablo?
Not a deal breaker for me, just a desire to make all the progression in D4 meaningful. New toys and gear is fun but do you really have to kill all the previous gear finds?
Totally agree with this very important point. They need to do it how d2 classic to lod works.
Convert a classic character to LOD. And keep the classic version its own rules and world.
Definitely one of my fears as well.
