Okay. I’ll modify my template then. I just finished the complete Greater Rift Level to Game Difficulty Equivalent table. Copy/paste will help with the modification though.

I guess I’ll have to modify some more of my charts… later… in the week. Luckily, this was the longest of the all.
Why not use Easy format? It’s quite suitable.
No matter which format, I like to use text editor that has column mode, e.g. Notepad++
Align data with spaces first. Then switch to column mode.
Select multiple lines vertically at column boundary (ALT+LMouse in Notepad++), I can insert codes to all selected lines at the same time.
I use NotePad. I tried NotePad++ years ago. I don’t remember why I quit using it. Probably because, at the time, I just didn’t feel like learning a new program and went back to one I was already familiar with.
Maybe I’ll check out NotePad++ again… one of these days.
I tried that. But, it only seems to work if the header (column titles) have the same number of columns and alignment as the body of the table.
If you don’t care too much about the style, it is something you want in Easy format:

That looks really good, Maskraider. It’s always nice, in my opinion, to have more than one way to accomplish a task.
For now, though, I’ve already created my largest template. From here on out it’s just a matter of copy/pasting sections of it for other, smaller tables or charts.
I also downloaded the latest version of Notepad++. I downloaded the 64-bit portable (zip) version, so I can just run from its download folder. I remembered why I never really used it. I didn’t really feel like I was using a plain text editor. It looked like I was in a C++ programming software. I’m sure I just didn’t give it long enough to learn how to use it.
Also, after yesterday, I’m actually starting to get used to using and understanding the advanced table syntax. Or, at least the very basics of it.
Thank you so much for all your help!
(I’m guessing you’ve learned a few tricks yourself ). I imagine we’ll be seeing some tables and charts from you as well.
Don’t go deep into standard HTML. The forum doesn’t support full HTML features. I’m sure “style” is not supported, as the site need to maintain a uniform look-n-feel.
Not to worry. I don’t really want to work too hard anyway.
But, thanks for the heads-up.
Test
Heh. Can’t set row data alignment to be inherited from the column header because Discourse is apparently using one supremely bastardized amalgomation of HTML 4.1 and HTML 5 and Blizzard has chosen to disallow the CSS functionality that would let us actually control that kind of stuff (among other things like event triggers such as onmouseover).
The reason I say bastardized is that the <a name="AnchorName"></a>
code is from HTML 4.1 and is not supported by HTML 5, yet we have access to the <details>
element, which is exclusive to HTML 5.
Fun.
Code for ToC menu?
I’m guessing the menu uses <a href="#tag">item</a>
and the destination uses (<h1 id="tag">Section Tag</h1>
).
Its just the “tree expand” i dedire.
I don’t know if I’ll need to use horizontal lines in these new forums. But, just in case, I’m going to modify one I used on the old forums and make sure it’s “quote-friendly”
Horizontal line:
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Edit 1: I forgot about an old BBCode I used on another forum. When used it created a horizontal line across the entire post.
The syntax used: <hr>
. You could type it twice to get double horizontal lines.
I just saw this as I was editing this post.
Let’s try it.
Typing this:
<hr>
Produces this:
Typing this:
<hr><hr>
Produces this:
Not exactly what I was looking for. I’m guessing the other code does the same. Let’s try it.
Syntax used:
---
Produces this:
Hmm… That one didn’t work so well. Before I enclosed the line under “Syntax used:” with grave accents it displayed the horizontal line correctly.
Once I added the grave accents the line under Produces this: created a header and no horizontal line.
Still I was hoping the lines would be a little darker.
Back to my modifying an existing horizontal line and making it quote-friendly.
Horziontal line:
<hr>
or
---
If you’re trying to embed an anchor into the heading, you want this format:
<h1><a name="AnchorName"></a>HeadingName</h1>
And use this for the link:
<a href="#AnchorName">Link Text Here</a>
To test:
Link to Anchor Embedded in Heading
Note: This demonstration takes you to post #41 below now to avoid huge blank space. Under normal circumstances, you don’t want anything before the # marker in the link to the anchor when it’s in the same post.
No. That’s not what I’m trying to do. I don’t even know what an “anchor” is, in internet terms. I suppose I could look it up. What I’m trying to do is very simple, so I don’t want to spend too long on it, as I have other things to test too.
Still, thanks for the info.
Okay. Will try again.
Syntax used:
---
Produces this:
Okay. That worked. Thanks, Maskraider!
Bleh. Looks like it really is a bastardization of HTML4 and 5. HTML 4 supports the size
and noshade
arguments for <hr>
, but HTML 5 does not.
You need blank lines before and after ---
Many BBCodes and tags need blank lines.
That info was for DogBone.
My apologies then.
And wow! I don’t know what you did, but I’m seeing a HUGE blank area in your post (above). Is that just me?
If not, please edit the post.
Thanks.
And wow! I don’t know what you did, but I’m seeing a HUGE blank area in your post (above). Is that just me?
It is not just you. I see the huge blank area too. Confusing. I am sort of trying to follow along as you guys sort this stuff out. I learned basic HTML back in 2001 but not any more than that. I am also super rusty.
