Patch 2.6.9 PTR Notes

There are some pissed of players, they are already calling for Nurfs for any builds running over 141 GRifts. Could get real ugly! :hammer: :muscle: :balance_scale:

I would say this puts sader/barb very close for solo push. I am not knowledgeable about the WD in solo but this is a massive nerf for metas. As for the new stuff I don’t see the new DH set making the metas but that party buff if left unchanged is OP and would very likely get DH in as a ztoon. This buff could off set some of the WD nerf for the meta. I still see WD being the trash killer and the rest is really confusing to me.

Agreed.

Most likely true, even though the wording of the 2 piece bonus of the new DH set can be interpreated in a few different ways. The PTR will tell.

The Odyssey’s End buff was unexpected. This may not go live as is.

The role of RGK is now much more similar for several classes in non-season. Crusader still possible but weaker, H90/frenzy possible, Necromancer, and DH impale if Holy Point Shot buff survives and potentially improved.

All the complaining about WD & Crusaders nerfs, and there are the same names, still whinging about Barbs… :man_facepalming: It never seems to end

Might be a bit boring but SoJ might see some use if it was “your elemental damage bonuses now count to all damage” or some other similar wording - would let you use those pesky items that just have the wrong element for your build, rather than having to find 7 different fire ones, I dunno.

It’s real application might allow us to use different runes without having to fully swap out gear - like if you wanted to try Lightning WhirlRend for a Rift or 2 you can just slap SoJ in and run with your phys% bonuses active (assuming you’re setup for Bloodbath already). Also using runes for their effect rather than element might be nice, but I don’t think Barb (or even really any class) has a ring slot to spare for the current iteration.

Really the only thing the ring does is allow for early season or new player flex ability. I am unaware of any builds that would benefit greatly from a double element build. You may benefit 1-2% here or there but you also need to sacrifice a ring slot to even use it. I don’t see this even being used.

The one thing it does is lift the FOT curse and our graveyards of “wrong element” FOTs with crit/CD are now usable at the expense of a ring slot

Just wanted to mention the biggest suprise to me with PTR patch notes. They changed passives and skills! Something I believed they wouldn’t do and probably alot of other players, too. Really excited for the big balance changes next patch. I hope it’s bigger in scope then 2.6.1. There are probably some use cases for the new Stone of Jordan power. Maybe go full Fire Damage % on a FO Build and use Spectral Blade - Flame Blades. Or something else. Now we should see a matured 2 week ptr cycle.

New SOJ means you can for example up your fire elemental damage with mage gauntlet, cindercoat, sankis axis, andariel, etc in a frost, lightning, physical build.
You will be able to change the rune of your main dps competence without having to change your equipment.

Hi guys, does the existing SoJ affixes we have also gets updated with the new patch 2.6.9 or it needs a reroll or new drop in order to get the updated affixes?
Thanks!

Only set items are retroactively updated. Non-set legendaries, such as SOJ, will need to be farmed anew.

Indeed: Items that would have been improved haven’t been retro-active-ly updated and needed to be farmed again.

But on the other hand:
Haven’t they updated non-set-legendaries retro-actively before, if the update meant a nerf to that item?

Not sure, but I seem to remember that there were a few such cases.
