Not going to lie. I’ll probably buy 1 copy for me and maybe 5 copies for my nieces/nephews (with parent’s approval)
However, if it turns out to be P2W, I’m not ordering extras. And, I’ll give it low rating.

What do you mean “if”?
That is a given, it WILL be p2w. Loot crates, buffs, all for sale.
Its Treason, then
15/immortals
You seem to have missed the point as well.
Nobody hates DI, we were upset that they announced a mobile title at a PC gaming convention.
If you have an issue with companies looking to make money, not sure what to say on that, it is kind of the point!
They have also confirmed it will not have pay to win mechanics in it. We can back this up with the fact no Blizzard title to date has them.
Character Boosts in WoW, Booster Packs in HS, Heroes in HotS.
All are purchasable for money and give you an ingame advantage.
Heroes in the HoTS can be purchased thru in-game gold as well. Based on your logic, then I guess any F2P game is P2W then.
Also, not all new heroes are strong.
Lol what? A char boost does nothing in WoW. For most of the expansion it gets you to the expansion start - so 10 levels below cap. It would be like starting at level 60 in D3 - except in WoW there is no race or leaderboard like at Season Start. At the end of the expansion you can boost to top level - which is where the game starts. To actually “win” you have to go do dungeons and raids to get the gear. It takes a long time to eventually get that. You can’t buy your way to that. Just like getting a power level in D3 does not get you anything - it just gets you to level 70 fast.
Heroes in HotS all rotate on a free to play basis and can be bought with in-game gold you earn by playing. There is no advantage to buying them, other than getting them faster. You can only play one at a time anyway though so who needs more than a favorite few?
They are not going to be doing pay to win in Diablo 4. They don’t in any of their games. What little you can buy does not get you any real advantage. It just saves time spent leveling.
If you don’t pay for a character boost, you have to grind by hand.
I haven’t played retail WoW in a long time, but if nothing changed drastically this will take quite some time. So saying that it does “nothing” isn’t quite accurate.
Regarding HotS:
Having a smaller Hero pool limits your pick options - which can put you at a disadvantage (e.g. counter picking or when the meta shifts and you don’t own any of the new meta heroes).
That you can earn all the Heroes for free through grinding doesn’t change that fact.
Many games give you the option to earn stuff for free that you can also get by spending money on it. But that alone doesn’t mean, that this type of business model is very consumer friendly. It all depends on how much effort you have to put in compared to players who simply pay the money to get it.
That said I don’t have a huge problem with character boosts in WoW or purchasing Heroes in HotS.
Hearthstone on the other hand can eat through your wallet VERY fast if you don’t play that much but still want to play the top tier decks and definitely falls into the p2w category.
This topic is about D:I though and I would love to be proven wrong on this one, but I doubt that Blizzard will miss out on the money they can make by monetizing it in any possible way they can think of. The mobile gaming community (if you can or want to call it like that) is used to it and a huge part of them seems to be fine with it. And that’s exactly why I don’t see any reason why it should not be going to happen.
I’ve no intention to play Diablo Immortal, but I also have no intention on bashing anyone who have interest in playing it.
That’s what all the Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters said when the game was announced shortly before release.
Then come release day all those boycotters were seen in-game.
Game will be free to play…
… but most likely following freemium model it’ll have pay-to-win elements here and there.
Game will be tailored for China but less likely that it will have separate servers for a damn mobile game, so you’ll get what you have.
Shrugs*
Don’t know anything bout left 4 dead, however considering that I literally don’t play mobile games at all, I can say with confidence that you wouldn’t see me in-game in Diablo Immortal. That said, I’ll definitely be on the lookout for new lore information that the game will be offering.
In the Chinese version of D3 they sell in-game platinum for IRL cash.
Platinum can be used to buy +XP boost potions.
More XP = more paragon = more main stat = more in-game power.
That sounds a lot like paying to win to me.
As long as it stays confined to the Chinese version which only they can play, they can feel free to throw away their funny money to get an advantage as much as they want.
As far as I’m concerned their version of any game that tacks on egregiously p2w and macrotransactions have nothing to do with the versions everyone else plays that don’t have any of that garbage in them.
+1 for DI on Switch.
dO yOu GuYs NoT hAvE pHonEs
This game will probably be sh** and that’s why people will only play that on the toilet
Unless there is a way to play it on a PC android emulator I won’t be playing it. My fingers don’t work well on phones.
If you have a mobile emulator you should have no issues. My wife plays all hers on her PC.
I’m just going on the “we don’t know the business model yet” statement that was made.
If it is a freemium game, I’ll play until I hit the paywall. If not, i’ll buy the game; if it is fun, i’ll gift my nieces/nephews.
But, actual actions will be determined after the game is released.
I live in Hong Kong, P2W mobile games all around me. I’m not mobile gamer, never touch these. But from the experience of my colleagues, those games usually have a free part, you can still get fun from the free part, depend on your target is “play for win” or “play for fun”
