He’s talking about 100% Seasonal Achievement completion. That is going to take doing 32 set dungeons. It isn’t about hard, it is about will to do them.
I can’t for my life figure out how anyone can blitz through the entire game in just one hour - 12 minutes per act, roughly 3-4 minutes per boss.
It’s like having a good time with wifey for 5 seconds.
I mean a quick hug. Smile. Whatever.
Most of the conquests are somehow silly like that, my personal problem is that most of them are (still) beyond what an average casual gamer can do. I have +1 stash tab because some seasons ago I did both hc and sc and got gems to 65 and there was something else I could do. I simply don’t find the motivation to stress myself to do it.
However, I do play the campaign raw every now and then, in a fresh season.
My newest idea is to play it after getting some gear in adventure, given it’s fine as long as you find precisely the planned amount of powerful gear, otherwise it’s a slog or a snooze. (Gone are the days of 5% power buffs.) The caveat being, my seasonal character is… hold on… 58 Kind of a lacking motivation.
To sum it up… wait for suitable seasons, play both hc and sc to benefit from certain challenges. Otherwise, the season journey is entirely pointless. Just have fun.
You probably already know that your cubed Powers stay with you in Campaign Mode.
A couple of weeks ago I decided to play through the entire Campaign, at my own pace, on T16. It had been years since I did this. I had already completed the Altar of Rites and the Season Journey.
I was surprised to find that the Altar bonuses followed me too. It was kind of nice letting my Pet pick up and salvage all the loot. This saved me from having return to town as often. And when a Primal item dropped, I got two.
Yes
That was the idea. I did type gear but I thought about the whole setup.
So basically growing to T15-16 and then flipping back to play like that, no further growth.
I’d be okay with T3 as well. Point is, the powers I find end up shooting me sky high, but then I level up and I’m back to being a minion.
I didn’t know that the finished altar had another effect … :o
Edit: I checked with my BH, first and only char so far with a finished altar - and there it is, that node. I hadn’t unlocked it, even though it doesn’t cost anything.
Darn it.
I never bothered unlocking Mother with my Sader since I thought it sucked and didn’t know about “Warning”. Yickes.
I knew about that …
… the “Warning” node was MY suprise.
EDIT 2: My Sader now has “Warning” unlocked. It really needs to be manually unlocked. Contrary to the maxroll guide.
Like I said, maxroll is a decent site but they get complacent or lazy. I mean, the guide’s been wrong about the last node since it was first written up, but they haven’t fixed it and it’s likely they never will.
Their paragon calculator and character builder are decent though. Just don’t go putting a lot of trust in their guides. I mean, they’re good for starters but they can be tweaked.
I think they don’t like me because I gave them feedback on fixing two small details on Witch Doctor overview and in the simulator and nothing changed. Perhaps they didn’t see my message yet…
If you check Witch Doctor overview page, you’ll see Gruesome Feast passive listed as maximum mana modifier while it has no effect on your max mana. On the simulator, if you check Witch Doctor’s Cloud of Bats skill rune, the channel duration scale of 5 seconds doesn’t match with the tooltip’s description of 3 seconds. (edit: They corrected it finally.)
I think they do that intentionally. I mean, on their defense, they need guides on cookie cutter builds to be published for catering to people with different amount of spare time. Whoever need to do tweaks would do it, but their guides always minimize the loot farming so you wade in to the end game quicker and still can optimize it long term. However, if you try to simplify the looting sequences or dumb down the required effort, it won’t reflect well on performance.
The tweaking you need to do to have some comfort on your Paragon level from theoretical 5k plvl of push builds, vary from guide to guide and it’s a fact that top spots on Seasonal Leader boards largely differ from them sometimes.
This is also evident in Set Dungeon guides in maxroll; they try to cut corners, use filler items too much and ignore key items player may need for comfort. All for the sake of minimizing the time required for farming, and targeting the low paragon players with lowballed items cobbled together.
As a result, damage output ramps up to dent the progress of objectives, and many people struggle with them to no end then blame developers for designing it bad instead of questioning the guide.
I don’t know about anyone but it’s always kind of funny to see people complain about Set Dungeons while using a maxroll guide. Those are vaguely written guides and sometimes video showcase of Set Dungeon gameplay don’t even match with the skills shown in the guide itself; I would take this as a hint. You have more than one solution and approach to them but insisting on uneventful one is not an option but a choice.
I wouldn’t say they do that intentionally. Rather, you need to view Maxroll as reporters rather than the definitive guide. Speaking from a Season Start perspective, their leveling guide has multiple flaws that will cost you time. You really need to look at where their core strengths are, and just reporting what they’ve heard elsewhere, acknowledging that there will be mistakes.
The question I feel comes down to, who is their audience.
Pro players? No. As has been mentioned by you and others, there are tons of flaws in their guides.
Amateurs? Probably not. There’s too much information to be useful.
So, I would say probably the middish players. People who it will generally help, but don’t need nor want to have a good understanding of the mechanics.
There are two main problems. The first is that people often overestimate their skills, and the second is that people view the guides as the definitive end all, be all.
They’re a good starting place, but that’s all they are, a starting place.
I that… resetting the game 100x also for Staff of Herding Items or Pete’s Chest… is also silly… silly is part of the game… enjoy Such as Myriam rolling 200x for 15% of item on gear… that is always wonderful… of 3000 bloodshards all gold rare from Kadala… that is also a great time! lol
