It has a lot of functions.
It can:
- turn your rare item into a legendary item,
- reroll your legendary item’s stats
- extract the legendary power from the legendary item so you can use the legendary item without equipping them
- change your set item (set A gloves) into another set item (set A boots)
- turning your crafting mats/gems into other crafting mats/gems
- augmenting your ancient gear with legendary gems (your gear became stronger)
- open a portal to Goblin’s Home or Cow Level

The Goblin Home (better known as the Vault) requires a puzzle ring and the Not a Cow level requires a Bovine Bardiche (known as a cow stick). Neither of these needs any sort of mats to open. You drop said item in the box and click the transmute button.
