Given that the end of this reasonably enjoyable season is getting near and the RNG gods have deemed (6 Primal Natalya’s Slayer pieces, Primal Compass Rose, Primal CoE, Primal Guardian’s Bracers) that I am supposed to spend hours doing the Diablo equivalent of watching paint dry, I’m going to try and make a final push to hit GR 150 (I just finished my first try at a bad GR 147 in 17.5 minutes).
With a critical hit % of 88.5 when Caltrops (Bait the Trap) goes off, is Archery a better passive skill than Cull the Weak for this character? I’m close to paragon 2200 and my sheet damage is 10.5 million or so. Also, at what point should +20% fire damage affix on an amulet exceed the +1000 Dex while wearing a Guardian’s set? Finally, assuming that I always have 3 skills on cooldown, is there a point at which the +50% fire and electricity damage helm gem is a better choice than +15% crit and attack speed? Thanks.
You probably know, but one way of getting inspiration is to look a all the various solo leaderboard high clears with the set where you can see all the build details for each player. Also the EU region perhaps. I believe Wudijo did a 150 clear early in season (even HC).
At your paragon 1000 DEX is probably better than 20% Fire damage in amulet. Also you might go with Ring of Fire, of the other variants don’t help.
Also, Natalya set is very strong, but the playstyle is something to get used to.
You can easily check this in simulator of maxroll if you bother. You can also import your character to there and play around the stats for optimization. If you ask my idea, I’d say you’d be better of including Sharpshooter or Single Out passive somewhere if you are this indulged at Critical hit Chance%.
I used a build different than what you see on the leaderboards during the first soul stone season and did a Gr 150 with around 1900 paragon. I finished the season with a sub 8 min clear with around 2300 paragon.
My build makes heavy use of the numlock trick but the gist of it is use Dawn over Nat’s Slayer and Nat’s Ring over CoE. Also use Esoteric, BotT, and Stricken as your gems.
With full uptime on Vengeance thanks to Dawn and Esoteric you should be able to stand in the middle of big packs of mobs without fear of dying except for Lacuni Slashers, Unburied, and Dark Berserkers.
Set Vengeance, FoK/Bladed Armor, and Shadow Power/Gloom to your number pad and numlock them. Press caltrops/Bait the Trap occassionally, hold down Spike Trap on your mouse and press Focus Fire/Hardened occasionally.
You should be able to do a GR 150 on any reasonably good map meaning a Conduit Pylon and any open map except the Desolate Sands. Shouldn’t take much fishing with your paragon.
All this said, my build is about 3 GR’s weaker than the standard build you see on the leaderboards but it plays a lot less clunky thanks to the numlock trick and Esoteric. Hope this helps.
When I occasionally look at “pro” players’ clears on youtube it looks like they often use the functionalities of gaming keyboards. They could also be using numlock… or just placing weights on some of the action keys.
Thank you to everyone for your helpful comments. I finally finished a 149 and a 150 a few minutes ago around 2300 paragon.
