Give all 2 handers a fixed, additional stat of:
CHD 100%-125%.
That would move the needle a bit towards a good 2H being used. Having it count twice for LoD/LoN would be nice as well, unless its being wielded as a 1H.

Iâm aware. Fervor is easily a Saderâs most powerful passive. Thatâs why I donât think itâs enough to simply remove the damage penalty on Heavenly Strength to wield 2-hand weapons with one hand. And if you remove the damage penalty, why not just make Heavenly Strengthâs effect a default part of the Saderâs abilities? Youâd still lose out on Fervor, but you wouldnât have to drop a second passive for Heavenly Strength, too.
I think you miscalculate. Fervor is a passive you have to take. So when a 2hd Crusader loses our on taking Fervor, they get to take a different passive as a consolation prize.
2hd weapons deal aboutâŚwhat, 70-80% more damage? They also roll up to 1400 or so strength. If you remove the HS penalty, that is one thing. But if you remove the need for HS as a passive, 2hd get 4 passives, whereas 1hd Crusaders, who must spend a point to get Fervor, get 3 passives.
No. 2-hand weapons deal 40% more damage. The margin between 2-hand and 1-hand is narrow enough that Fervor alone is enough to make up the difference. It should also be noted that there are NO offensive passives to take that canât already be taken with 2-hand weapons.
I think you seem to have forgotten the tremendous value of legendary powers.
Give 2 handers a chance to socket a legendary gem and provide an item on off hand to give a legendary power.
No more or less powerful than any off-hand or 1-hand power, so thatâs entirely moot. And if you mean for classes other than Crusaders, thatâs already been answered: let those classes with off-hands use those offhands but without the stats. Barbarians are a tougher call, but I like the idea of letting them use another pair of gloves or bracers, which means gloves can finally start getting some interesting legendary powers, too.
Nah. Youâve lost track of the topic.
Moving on.
Nope, youâre just not paying attention. Refer to my first post in this thread.
Actually with this season theme. How about this? If you have equipped a two hander you can use another weapon/off-hand power in the cube. Wow. Nice.
There used to be a 2 socketed 2 handed crossbow, many moons ago. (The Manticore)
In your standard RPG setting, 2H weapon usually meant for heavy but powerful attack with lower defense and 1H+Shield are balance offense and defense, but this wonât able to apply here due to Kanai Cube and Legendary Power.
Unless all the legendary powers from off-hand items changed to defense type of legendary power, I just canât see how 2H can win over 1H with off hand item when it comes to building your character as long as DPS offhand legendary exist.
Even without Kanai Cube, 2 legendary powers that buff X skill are still better than 1 legendary power that buff X skill.
Well, not unless 2-hand legendary powers are made as strong as 1-hand and off-hand legendary powers combined. Or all classes get an âoff-handâ item like quivers, with legendary powers worth equipping.
Even if the issue of 2 handers cannot be resolved in D3, the concern will certainly bring forward to D4 if legendary power is a thing in D4.
I think allow extra cube power when welding a 2 hander (without offhand) is a good idea.
Or just give big S damage to 2-handers so the power can overcome or at least comparable to another off-hand leg power
I think it is better that there is no 2H weapon available for all classes in D4, and only a specific class that the main weapon is a 2h weapon. This will be easier to balance in long run.
As a witch doc playerâŚ
Why is our signature weapon melee?
The way to balance is NOT to be equal.
Okay, hear me out, dual wield 1-hander, 1-hander/shield, 1-hander/offhand shouldnât all reach same numerical equivalence. Its impossible to balance, but the good thing is, we do not need to.
It is better to make them distinct, with all else equal, serve different philosophy and fantasy.
2-Hander (no offhand)
Big S damage,
Give up defend
slower attack
Favor slow big S attack/spell e.g Meteor/Leap attack
1-hander/shield
Defense minded.
Low damage, good defence
Dual-welding
Fastest attack speed, Big damage (slightly less than 2-hander) but give up defense
Favor fast attack skills like frenzy, dual strike etc
1-hander/off-hand
The ginger step child.
Maybe only for spell caster only. Better offense than 1-hander shield but less than dual welding & 2-hander but have some defence (energy shield maybe).
As a Wiz, I hate the ward & offhand, what am I? Harry Porter? Give me big S stuff any day!
Iâve another viable solution:
-Why not make it possible to merge any off-hander into any 2-hander of the same class?
Itâs 2 legendary powers versus 1, unless youâre a Crusader. Thatâs why.
Not to mention that there are a lot of absolute trash 2hs out there. Perhaps the most of any slot. Executioner, Skorn, Messerâs Reaver, Butcherâs Carver, Crushbane, Wrath of the Bone King, Skywarden, Shaeferâs Hammer, Sledge of Athswhatever, Pledge of Caldeum, Heart Slaughter. Zweihander, Scourge, Blackguard, The Grandfather, Warmonger⌠not even a total list of the 2h weapons that suck, and thatâs not including the ones specific to each class.
Oh, Iâm paying attention. Youâve gone off the rails. Your first post makes no sense. A second bracer or gloves? LOL - An offhand item like a quiver? Ummm they have shields.
Please try to follow along with the thread. We are talking about trying to improve two handers. Period.
