I’ve joined far too many games to experience and also observed players usually leave the game if they enter a mid session GR. Would be good if there is a in game mechanism to lock the public game once a GR has started till the RG has been killed. If Blizzard can prevent new players from entering a GR mid session, this programming logic shouldn’t be too far off.
Personally I would rather join a new game than to wait 5-10mins for the GR to be completed, I believe some players would feel the same.
Not sure if this topic has been visited but this is one development that would really be good to have.
Think you missed what I was trying to say. The original players who accepted to start the GR will remain in the locked public game. The new mechanism will prevent players like you or me from joining a public game (GR) that has already started so that we don’t have to end up waiting for them to finish. Or in most cases we joined a GR game mid way and leave to rejoin the same game.
Ironically, many people complained some time ago that they couldn’t find public GR games fast enough. So Blizzard’s solution was to let people join half way through a GR. That said, it likely wouldn’t take much for them to go back to the way it was. I also recently found an advantage to the old way. If a party member got DC’d they could rejoin. With the current way, if a party member gets DC’d in a public game, another random player can pop in to take their slot and just sit waiting for the next GR, barring the first player from rejoining a GR that was going well.
I fully agree with the idea.
And also blizzard need to solve the cause why people leave the public GR ongoing game.
In many cases people come and go again after see other team paragon level, or character or after know the other team want to play different gr level that is not the same with what they want.
Especially on the last cause, its so hard to find other people that has the same gr level goal in public game. When i need to level up my high gem, many times other public game team only want / capable to play low gr level. And vice versa, sometimes i only want to level up low gem, but others open the high gr level.
So if possible please give us some option to choose range of gr level at the menu.
You can set like every 25 level in T16 game: 76-100, 101-125, >125.
So, four players start a GR, realise that they have absolutely no chance of successfully clearing it in time to beat it, and they’re locked into that game until the fifteen minutes runs out, rather than being able to go back to town and leave? What will that cause other than frustration and a lot of Alt+F4 pressing?
If the public game has 4 players no one will be able to join since the game is full. This only applies to public games with less than 4 players.
The locked game only prevents new players from entering a public game that has an ongoing session of GR. Players already in that game will be able to leave anytime like they are able to currently, however they will never join back the game they just left if the RG has not been killed simple as that. Essentially it’s to cut short waiting time for players to start GR.
Honestly I cannot think of any downside if this is implemented. GR public games should be more productive for most players.
I’m struggling to think of the downside of them just reverting it back to how it used to be, i.e. you didn’t get joined to games with an in-progress GR.
You should read a post before you respond to it, rather than just going based on your most combative assumption of the thread title.
I support the OP’s idea. Although I want to suggest a slight change: Let players still join GRs that have better than 60% progress. A lot of players are willing to wait that length of time. If they weren’t put into games with in-progress rifts, then nonseasonals like myself would almost never find a game.
You know, I stand corrected. I did read the post, but perhaps too fast. I went back and read it, and it makes more sense now. I was thinking something completely different.
