List of Follower Items, that may or may not work

EDIT: A more up-to-date of this list is located here in the General Discussion forum: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/t/list-of-follower-items-that-may-or-may-not-work/34483

Yes, you can find this post/thread in “General Discussion” as well. It was suggested to me to post it here in “New Player Help”, so here it is. (Thanks naksiloth)

As you can see, this is not a list of items with only the new Emanate effect. Infact, I didn’t bother including all the Emanate items. This is a list of items that may benefit followers or your character, in a number of different ways and build preferences. Such as items with passives that may allow your follower to be tankier if you want to try any other follower relic besides the “cannot die” one. Also included numerous items that automatically comes with Attack Speed, and some items that come with Cooldown Reduction (Since Templars Heal ability benefits from CDR). Also included numerous items that have Lightning damage effects/passives, which could be beneficial with using Wyrdward ring (chance to stun).

Warning: This is more of a rough draft that I may or may not continue working on. If there are items you feel is missing from the list, or items that are on the list that may not work…I’ll try my best to update it. Not everything on the list is tried and tested (on my part).

HEAD:

  • Andariel’s Visage
    (Attack Speed Increased by 5-7%)
    (5-10% more Fire damage taken.)
(Note: Primarily would be used for the Attack Speed increase, but be careful if not using “Cannot Die” token since you take up to 10% more fire damage. Mempo of Twilight would be a better option.)
  • Blind Faith
(20-40% Chance to Blind on Hit)
(Note: Crusader using Bracer of Fury can make use of this. As well as other typical Follower Crown Control builds.)
  • Broken Crown
(Whenever a gem drops, a gem of the type socketed into your helmet also drops. This effect does not apply to Legendary Gems. (Emanate))
(Note: Primarily used for solo NRifts, Bounties, and Vault runs. This will drop up to Imperial gems that are socketed in your own helm.)
  • Deathseer’s Cowl
(15-20% chance on being hit by an Undead enemy to charm it for 2 seconds.)
(Note: Deathseer’s Cowl works. But it’s untested if it works in conjunction with Overwhelming Desire for +35% more damage. With it only working against Undead, it’s likely not worthwhile to use.)
  • The Helm of Rule
    (+11% Chance to Block)
(Note: Only helm that can roll Chance to Block.)
  • Leoric’s Crown
(Increase the effect of any gem socketed into your helm by 75-100%. This effect does not apply to Legendary Gems.)
(Note: Can use Ruby for +Experience, or Diamond as Templar for CDR (Templars Heal ability benefits from CDR.))
  • Mempo of Twilight
    (Attack Speed increased by 5-7%)
(Note: Preferred over Andariel’s Visage if you’re not using “Cannot Die” token since it comes with increased fire damage taken.)
  • Aughild’s Spike
(2pc: Reduces damage taken by 15%)
(3pc: Reduces damage from elites by 30%)
  • Cain’s Insight
(2pc: Attack Speed Increased by 8%)
    (2pc: +50% Experience)
(3pc: When a Greater Rift Keystone drops, there is a 25% chance for an extra one to drop. (Emanates))
  • Guardian’s Gaze
    (2pc: +250 Vitality)
(2pc: +100 Resistance to All Elements)
  • Sage’s Apogee
(2pc: +250 Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality)
(3pc: Double the amount of Death’s Breath that drop. (Emanates))

SHOULDERS:

  • Homing Pads
(Your Town Portal is no longer interrupted by taking damage. While casting Town Portal you gain a protective bubble that reduces damage taken by 50-65%. (Emanates))
  • Pauldrons of the Skeleton King
(When receiving fatal damage, there is a chance that you are instead restored to 25% of maximum Life and cause nearby enemies to flee in fear.)
(Note: Untested. But potentially could be used in builds not using “Cannot Die” token as a cheat death for follower, if it works.)
  • Spaulders of Zakara
    (Your items become indestructible. (Emanates))
  • Asheara’s Custodian
(2pc: +100 Resistance to All Elements)
    (3pc: +20% Life)
  • Aughild’s Power
(2pc: Reduces damage taken by 15%)
(3pc: Reduces damage from elites by 30%)
  • Born’s Privlege
    (2pc: +15% Life)
(3pc: Reduces cooldown of all skills by 10%)
    (3pc: +20% Experience)
(Note: Templar Heal is the only follower ability that benefits from CDR.)

NECK:

  • Countess Julia’s Cameo (Arcane), Mara’s Keleidoscope (Poison), The Star of Azkaranth (Fire), Talisman of Aranoch (Cold), Xephirian Amulet (Lightning)
(Prevent all (Element) damage taken and heal yourself for 10-15% of the amount prevented.)
(Note: Just tried to consolidate some space so added these all in one section clumped together since they all do the same thing but for different elements. shrug)
  • Dovu Energy Trap
(Increases duration of stun effects by 25%. (Emanates))
  • The Ess of Johan
(Chance on hit to pull in enemies toward your target and Slow them by 60-80%.)
  • Eye of Etlitch
(Reduces damage from ranged attacks by 30-35%.)
(Note: Best amulet for Ranged Damage Reduction.)
  • The Flavor of Time
(Pylon effects last twice as long. (Emanates))
(Note: Most popular choice, the passive + emanate is too good to pass up for most builds.)
  • Overwhelming Desire
(Chance on hit to charm the enemy. While charmed, the enemy takes 35% increased damage.)
(Note: Untested. In theory, you’d use on Enchantress along with her Charm ability, Deathseer’s Cowl, and The Tormentor for more charm procs. But don’t know if only Overwhelming Desire charm procs the 35% increased damage.)
  • Rakoff’s Glass of Life
(Enemies you kill have a 3-4% additional chance to drop a health globe. (Emanates))

TORSO:

  • Goldskin
(Chance for enemies to drop gold when you hit them. (Emanates))
  • Aughild’s Rule
(2pc: Reduces damage taken by 15%)
(3pc: Reduces damage against elites by 30%)
  • Born’s Frozen Soul
    (2pc: +15% Life
(3pc: Reduces cooldown of all skills by 10%)
    (3pc: +20% Experience)
(Note: Templar Heal is the only follower ability that benefits from CDR.)
  • Tal Rasha’s Relenetless Pursuit
    (Attack Speed increased by 5-7%)
(Note: Yes, this is a Wizard item, but all followers and character classes can wear it. It is the only torso item that can roll attack speed. You’d either get one from your own Wizard character or from grouping with one. And you’d change main stat to Dexterity or Strength as a Monk, Demon Hunter, Crusader, or Barbarian if using for a Scoundrel or Templar.)

WAIST:

  • Cord of the Sherma
(Chance on hit to create a chaos field that Blinds and Slows enemies inside for 3-4 seconds.)
(Note: Probably the best waist item, if you’re not prioritizing Attack Speed or Cooldown Reduction. Highly effective and procs fairly often. Has about a 20 yard radius.)
  • Fleeting Strap
    (Attack Speed increased by 5-7%)
    (Note: Crafted at Blacksmith)
  • Insatiable Belt
(Picking up a Health Globe increases your maximum Life by 5% for 15 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.)
(Note: Untested. I doubt it works, but could possibly be desirable if it does.)
  • String of Ears
(Reduces damage from melee attacks by 25-30%.)
(Note: Untested. Not sure if followers benefit from this item or not.)
  • Thundergod’s Vigor
(Blocking, dodging, or being hit causes you to discharge bolts of electricity that deal 100-130% weapon damage as Lightning.)
(Note: Can work in a stun build in conjunction with Wyrdward (Lightning damage has a 25-35% chance to Stun for 1.5 seconds.), Fulminator (Lightning damage has a chance to turn enemies into lightning rods, causing them to pulse 444-555% weapon damage as lightning every second to nearby enemies for 6 seconds.), Odyn Son (20-40% chance to Chain Lightning enemies when you hit them.), Sky Splitter (15-20% chance to Smite enemies for 600-750% weapon damage as Lightning when you hit them.), Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker (Chance on hit to blast your enemy with Lightning, dealing 279-372% weapon damage as Lightning and then jumping to additional nearby enemies. Each enemy hit has their attack speed and movement speed reduced by 30% for 3 seconds. Jumps up to 5 targets.))
  • Vigilante Belt
(Reduces cooldown of all skills by 5-8%)
(Note: Only waist item that can roll cooldown reduction. Templars Heal is only ability that benefits from cooldown reduction.)
  • The Witching Hour
    (Attack Speed increased by 5-7%)
  • Captain Crimson’s Silk Girdle
(2pc: Regenerates 6000 Life per Second)
(2pc: Reduces cooldown of all skills by 20%)
(3pc: Damage taken is reduced by your percentage of cost reduction.)
(Note: Untested if 3pc bonus works for damage reduction from cost reduction. Templar Heal is the only ability that benefits from cooldown reduction.)
  • Guardian’s Case
    (2pc: +250 Vitality)
(2pc: Regenerates 8000 Life per Second)
  • Sage’s Ribbon
(2pc: +250 Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality)
(3pc: Double the amount of Death’s Breath that drop. (Emanates))

HANDS:

  • Gladiator Gauntlets
(After earning a massacre bonus, gold rains from the sky. (Emanates))
(Note: Can only earn massacre bonus in Adventure Mode (Running Bounties), so doesn’t work in NRifts or Vault.)
  • Gloves of Worship
(Shrine effects last for 10 minutes. (Emanates))
(Note: Highly effective and desirable in solo NRifts and Bounties.)
  • Stone Gauntlets
(Getting hit increases your armor by 50%, but reduces your movement speed by 15% and attack speed by 20%. This effect stacks up to 5 times.)
(Note: Not fully tested. You won’t see toughness or damage reduction stats increase in follower details, neither will you see attack speed increase in detail window or from follower attack animation. Need to test further for actually damage reduction.)
  • Asheara’s Ward
(2pc: +100 Resistance to All Elements)
    (3pc: +20% Life)
  • Cain’s Scrivener
(2pc: Attack Speed increased by 8%)
    (2pc: +50% Experience)
(3pc: When a Greater Rift Keystone drops, there is a 25% chance for an extra one to drop. (Emanates))
  • Sage’s Purchase
(2pc: +250 Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality)
(3pc: Double the amount of Death’s Breath that drop. (Emanates))

WRISTS:

  • Ancient Parthan Defenders
(Each stunned enemy within 25 yards reduces your damage taken by 9-12%)
  • Custerian Wristguards
(Picking up gold grants experience. (Emanates))
  • Lacuni Prowlers
    (Attack Speed increased by 5-7%)
  • Nemesis Bracers
(Shrines will spawn an enemy champion (Emanates))
(Note: Works on both Shrines in Adventure Mode, NRifts, and also on Pylons in GRifts. Definitely the most popular choice, but some builds may not prefer it since it seems to spawn a lot of Spinners. Not recommended in Hardcore Mode for builds that can die to Spinners damage reflection.)
  • Steady Strikers
    (Attack Speed increased by 7%)
    (Note: Crafted at Blacksmith?)
  • Strongarm Bracers
(Enemies hit by knockbacks suffer 20-30% increased damage for 6 seconds.)
(Note: Can work in conjunction with The Ess of Johan (Chance on hit to pull in enemies toward your target and Slow them by 60-80%), Azurewrath (Undead and Demon enemies within 25 yards take 500-650% weapon damage as Holy every second and are sometimes knocked into the air.), and Windforce (30-50% Chance to Knockback on hit.))

LEGS:

  • Asheara’s Pace
(2pc: +100 Resistance to All Elements)
    (3pc: +20% Life)
  • Cain’s Habit
(2pc: Attack Speed increased by 8%)
    (2pc: +50% Experience)
(3pc: When a Greater Rift Keystone drops, there is a 25% chance for an extra one to drop. (Emanates))
  • Captain Crimson’s Thrust
(2pc: Regenerates 6000 Life per Second)
(2pc: Reduces cooldown of all skills by 20%)
(3pc: Damage taken is reduced by your percentage of cost reduction.)
(Note: Untested if 3pc bonus works for damage reduction from cost reduction. Templar Heal is the only ability that benefits from cooldown reduction.)

FEET:

  • Boots of Disregard
(Get 10000 Life regeneration per Second for each second you stand still. This effect stacks up to 4 times.)
  • Ice Climbers
(Gain immunity to Freeze and immobilize effects.)
(Note: Tested, and works. Will be immune to all crowd control effects. These are highly recommended until/unless you can max out secondary crowd control reduction elsewhere.)
  • Asheara’s Finders
(2pc: +100 Resistance to All Elements)
    (3pc: +20% Life
  • Cain’s Travelers
(2pc: Attack Speed increased by 8%)
(3pc: When a Greater Rift Keystone drops, there is a 25% chance for an extra one to drop. (Emanates))
  • Captain Crimson’s Waders
(2pc: Regenerates 6000 Life per Second)
(2pc: Reduces cooldown of all skills by 20%)
(3pc: Damage taken is reduced by your percentage of cost reduction.)
(Note: Untested if 3pc bonus works for damage reduction from cost reduction. Templar Heal is the only ability that benefits from cooldown reduction.)
  • Sage’s Passage
(2pc: +250 Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality)
(3pc: Double the amount of Death’s Breath that drop. (Emanates))

FINGER:

  • Avarice Band
(Each time you pick up gold, increase your Gold and Health pickup radius by 1 yard for 10 seconds, stacking up to 30 times. (Emanates))
  • Band of Hollow Whispers
(This ring occasionally haunts nearby enemies.)
  • Bul-Kathos’s Wedding Band
(You drain life from enemies around you.)
  • Hellfire Ring
    (+45% Experience.)
  • Justice Lantern
    (+12-16% Chance to Block)
(Gain damage reduction equal to 45-55% of your Block Chance.)
(Note: Not fully tested. Followers gain Chance to Block but don’t know if the damage reduction works from the passive.)
  • Leoric’s Signet
    (+20-30% Experience.)
  • Oculus Ring
(Chance to create an area of focused power on kilning a monster. Damage is increased by 70-85% while standing in the area.)
(Note: Easiest the best ring choice in GRifts, especially for pushing.)
  • Pandemonium Loop
(10-15% Chance to Fear on Hit)
(Enemies slain while Feared die in a bloody explosion and cause other nearby enemies to flee in Fear.)
(Note: Untested. Doubt the passive works, who knows. But could still work in conjunction with other fear items for a Fear+Movespeed build for solo NRifts and Bounties.)
  • Ring of Royal Grandeur
(Reduces the number of items needed for set bonuses by 1 (to a minimum of 2).
(Note: Yes, this works on followers. There are a number of combination of set builds ranging from Sage’s, Cain’s, Captain Crimson’s, Aughild’s, Asheara’s, and Born’s Command that you can wear 2-3 sets at once.)
  • Rogar’s Huge Stone
(Increase your Life per Second by up to 100% based on your missing Life.)
  • Unity
(All damage taken is split between wearers of this item.)
(Note: Works. But not tested without using “Cannot Die” token, but probably isn’t recommended. Can only assume your own character would take a ton more incoming damage.)
  • Wyrdward
(Lightning damage has a 35% chance to Stun for 1.5 seconds.)
(Note: Works. Can work in conjunction with other Lightning damage items for a stun build. Thundergod’s Vigor (Blocking, dodging or being hit causes you to discharge bolts of electricity that del 130% weapon damage as Lightning), Fulminator (Lightning damage has a chance to turn enemies into lightning rods, causing them to pulse 444-555% weapon damage as lightning every second to nearby enemies for 6 seconds.), Odyn Son (20-40% chance to Chain Lightning enemies when you hit them.), Sky Splitter (15-20% chance to Smite enemies for 600-750% weapon damage as Lightning when you hit them.), Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker (Chance on hit to blast your enemy with Lightning, dealing 279-372% weapon damage as Lightning and then jumping to additional nearby enemies. Each enemy hit has their attack speed and movement speed reduced by 30% for 3 seconds. Jumps up to 5 targets.))

1H WEAPONS (Enchantress + Templar):

  • Azurewrath
(Undead and Demon enemies within 25 yards take 500-650% weapon damage as Holy every second and are sometimes knocked into the air.)
(Tested: Works, but the knockup happens very rarely.)
  • Echoing Fury
(10-20% Chance to Fear on hit.)
(Slaying enemies engulfs the wielder into a Frenzy.)
(Total with 5 stacks = 75% atk spd and 25% move speed.)
(Tested: Only works when Follower gets the kill…So basically doesn’t work.)
  • Eun-jang-do
(Attacking enemies below 17-20% life freezes them for 3 seconds.)
(Tested: Works, doesn’t appear to freeze for 3 seconds. But it does stun nonetheless.)
  • Fulminator
(Lightning damage has a chance to turn enemies into lightning rods, causing them to pulse 444-555% weapon damage as lightning every second to nearby enemies for 6 seconds.)
  • Hallowed Breach
(2 pc +100 resistance to All elements, Attack speed increased by 10%)
  • In-geom
(Your skill cooldowns are reduced by 8-10 seconds for 15 seconds after killing an elite pack.)
(Hard to test, dunno if works…If it does, would only work for Templars Heal ability.)
  • Odyn Son
(20-40% chance to Chain Lightning enemies when you hit them.)
  • Pig Sticker
    (Squeal!)
(This item has an unusual legendary affix in that it only produces sound effects and no function?)
  • Solanium
(Critical Hits have a 3-4% chance to spawn a health globe.)
  • The Burning Axe of Sankis
(Chances to fight through the pain when enemies hit you.)
(This property reduces damage taken by about 50% for 5 seconds, a buff comparable to the Barbarian’s Ignore Pain skill. The chance to proc is 8%, but with hits taken very often in combat, it will activate quickly in heavy action.)
(Tested. Appears to work, but you won’t see any toughness or damage reduction changes in stats. You’ll see a red swirl around your follower when it procs.)
  • The Butcher’s Sickle
(20-25% chance to drag enemies to you when attacking.)
(Seems to only drag 1 target per proc? Unlike Ess of Johan.)
  • Sky Splitter
(15-20% chance to Smite enemies for 600-750% weapon damage as Lightning when you hit them.)
  • Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
(Chance on hit to blast your enemy with Lightning, dealing 279-372% weapon damage as Lightning and then jumping to additional nearby enemies. Each enemy hit has their attack speed and movement speed reduced by 30% for 3 seconds. Jumps up to 5 targets.)

2H WEAPONS (Enchantress Only):

  • Blood Brother
(Grants a 15-20% chance to block attacks. Blocked attacks inflict 30% less damage. After blacking an attack, your next attack inflicts 30% additional damage.)
(Tested: Works, block chance value increases in follower details.)
  • Maloth’s Focus
(Enemies occasionally flee at the sight of this staff.)
(Causes nearby enemies to be feared. The effect occurs every 15 seconds, and all enemies within about 25 yards are feared for 2-3 seconds. The same monster can not be scared twice.)
(Tested, works. But seeing as only Enchantress can equip it and being a ranged caster. Wouldn’t be viable for a Fear/Speed build.)
  • The Sultan of the Blinding Sand
(20-40% Chance to Blind on hit.)
  • The Tormentor
(Chance to charm enemies when you hit them.)

BOWS & 2H XBOWS (Scoundrel Only):

  • Buriza-Do Kyanon
(Your projectiles pierce 1-2 additional times.)
  • Cluckeye
(20-50% chance to cluck when attacking.)
  • Hellrack
(Chance to root enemies to the ground when you hit them.)
  • Windforce
(30-50% Chance to Knockback on hit.)
(Tested: Works, feels fairly consistent too. But I dunno if consistent enough to use Strongarms Bracers over Nemesis Bracers.)

OFF-HAND:

  • Coven’s Criterion
    (+11% Chance to Block)
(You take 45-60% less damage from blocked attacks.)
  • Freeze of Deflection
(Blocking an attack has a chance to Freeze the attack for 0.5-1.5 seconds.)
  • Hallowed Barricade
(2pc +100 Resistance to All Elements, Attack Speed Increased by 10%)
  • Stormshield
(Reduces damage from melee attacks by 25-30%)
  • Wall of Man
(20-30% chance to be protected by a shield of bones when you are hit.)
(The special affix is a 20% reduction in all damage taken for 5 seconds, with a 10 seconds cooldown.)

Honestly though, how or why is it too much to ask that we just be given the info for legendary items that work for your follower? Clearly someone has to know because they’ve clearly blocked a lot of items from functioning on the follower. I feel like there would be less of an attempt to manipulate the system if we just knew what the system was…

Yes.

I would also like Blizzard to make some lists for me.

What damage types does each mob in the game do?
What is the Spawn rate of each mob type?
What is the spawn rate of each Unique mob for the achievements?
What is the spawn rate of Princess Lillian?
What is the spawn rate of goblins in each map?
What is the spawn rate of each goblin type?
What is the spawn rate of cosmetic chests?
What is the spawn rate for each type of rift/Grift mapset?
What is the spawnrate for the various mob types in Grs?
How common is each elite affix?
Which mobs have knockback?
What is the EXACT droprate of Primals and Ethereals at each Rift/GR level?
What is the droprate of legendaries for each GR level?
Does the ratio of Primal:Ancient:Legs change with GR level?
If so, what is the ratio at each GR level?
Which build in the game will top the LB for each season so I know what class to play?
Which legendaries effects can a follower take advantage of?

Who will pay Blizzard to make these lists for me?
You?

I guess I will have to make my own lists after some testing if I want to know the answers to some of these questions, or rely on the hard work of others.

Fortunately, someone already did a lot of testing and put together one of the lists for me!

Thanks, Mersinary for all the work you did in putting together this list, and for sharing it with us!

You missed these…

What is their mother’s maiden name?
What is their inside leg measurement?
If the unstoppable force hits the immovable object, does the force stop and the object move?

Well, I had to stop somewhere. I will keep adding to the list as the questions come to me, though.

What I really need is someone at Blizzard to finish my list for me, and then answer them!

Maybe after my long and tedious post, they will break down and just release the source code so I can finally answer all the questions for myself.

But then, who will pay me to go through all that code and give all the answers? Rocap?

This is absurd and you’re both obnoxious. They already have the data because it’s coded into their game. Stop being fanboys. Disrespectful af. Also, it’s 42 not 32.

This is a 9 year old game with around 3 new patches full of game changing updates per year.

You get all of that for free. You are also asking for Blizzard to keep an updated wiki for you and catalog all the changes they make and in addition, to provide a list of items that might benefit followers.

The point is still valid. Who is paying Blizzard to make that list and keep it updated as they make changes each season?

How is the “list of items that work on followers” different from the “lists of things” that I want to know about? Who will pay them to make my lists for me? I am dead serious about the List of info that I want. I Probably want them answered more than you want your list answered.

I know they have all the information somewhere in their files, but it takes money to pay someone to compile all that info and keep it updated on a game that I bought 9 years ago. Also, I think that if they shared all of that information, if would take away from the fun of the game. I would no longer need to try new things out.

Surely you can understand why this does not make fiscal sense.

Also, I am not a fanboy, and I openly criticize Blizzard on a regular basis, but what you are asking for is ridiculous.

Also, sorry for the mistake in my previous post. No disrespect intended.
