The new gem is amazing. It gives us a smooth power progression once we hit lvl 70, which the community overwhelmingly loved from S17. To keep this moving forward, LoD gem needs to be a guaranteed drop from the first GR finished on a character.
Also, thanks Blizz for putting some work into this patch and taking some risks. I’m just hoping there’s some later love for barbs, similar to how the rapidfire buff came late into 2.6.5 PTR.
for the PTR you can buy the ring from the PTR vendor. Comes in the last pack (think it’s called ‘fortune’ or something). It’s likely the gem will need retuning before the next season actually starts so not sure about making it the first gem drop instead of BotP (which always annoyed me that always drops first guaranteed, its not that great of a gem)
Are you talking about just for PTR testing or when it also go live? I’d say okay to PTR testing but not for live. D3 is an RNG game, knowing that its the first leg gem to drop just kills it a little, I say whatever drops should be a random leg gem.
There is such a limited number of gems that you’re guaranteed to get it within a few grifts. Why should the designers go out of their way to make that gem a guaranteed first drop when there are numerous classes/builds that do NOT want to get that gem first?
It is fine as it is. Do a few grifts and you’ll have it - perhaps on the first one, perhaps not.

Eh, I think every fresh 70 would want it. At this point players don’t even have the recipes for craftable sets, so it’s usually just a blend of yellows and legendaries.

I think this change would be in line with the current dev philosophy. Similar to how Sage’s set is automatically learned as soon as you reach 70. The idea is to give the player the bare minimum to get started.
I have 3 accounts, and I get at least to Conquerer on each server on all 3 accounts, so I have seen it drop first 9 times per season ever since it was introduced.
I honestly can’t find it anywhere, and i’m a person that doesn’t like false information so i checked a couple places. That is why I was asking for source from another player. It’s not that I am denying this assumption, I just don’t see why I should see it as true or false. Maybe you can provide me source? Or maybe i’ll just see next season what leg gem drop first, but i’ll probably take it as just a coincidence if BoTP does drop.
Posts like this let me know I can safely ignore your feedback going forward.
@OP: Legacy definitely needs a smooth, efficient way to acquire rather than to do 20+ GRs at the Start of season finally hoping for the right legendary gem. I’ve suggested killing Diablo or Malthael for the first time. That way, if you want to start off with a LoN type build at season start, you can.
It’s just common sense. Which is why I’m hesitant to say Blizzard will do it.
It takes no time at all to farm 10-20 keys. There’s nothing to think about. It’s not hard to get. Drop down to the easiest difficulty level and farm away.
You are still not thinking. You have to farm the keys, then you have to farm the GRs. Then you will have to re-farm keys to keep up with your contemporaries. it’ll take at least twice as long to gear.
Why do you object having the option to immediately start gearing LoN? Do you have a reason?
Because you can’t read basic english and think out what other say to you. Try learning english then come back to the english forum. I already stated what you said. It does not take long. I know how it works.
I object because it’s silly and handing something to someone that has already been handed to them. It does not take long to get all the gems now.
