Yes there is. They want to have huge phone app download numbers. Everyone is getting the app so they can at least reserve names. This bolsters that metric for quarterly reports where they can pretend to shareholders that the phone platform is more popular than it is.

No, names are unique. If it’s already taken it will tell you and you have to pick another name.

it’s not ready. there’s a lot of known problems, and it’s still beta.
Can’t recall a single MMO I’ve played where that hasn’t been the case.
