Is political correctness a curse for games?

games cannot refer to true Religious good vs bad confrontations anymore?

-like Mephisto, Diablo and Baal vs humans in D2 (remember the portal cutscene)

-and why not put Religions against each other, all with their own Lore to bring submission to humans.

Starting with D3, the hacks that write for Blizzard have concocted some story where 2 major religions are created by a Demon and Angel, respectively, the two religions are against each other. And, Lilith participates in a plot to destroy both of those religions.

Also, D3 is anything but “Politically Correct.” the Prime Evil turns to Adria and says: “Now go, wait in the kitchen until I need you again.”

Apparently, Diablo thought he was going to have a sandwich after taking over Heaven.

the Nephalem chose to fight one of those Religions and does half the work for Lilith; it seems that’s the Lore.

why doesn’t Lilith judge and choose 1 Religion to destroy and bring peace?
-a hidden political message by the left: socialism ideology vs Religion?

Yes.

Diablo 1 was arguably darker than all 3. Could you imagine right now if Blizzard released a game where you go down to the depths of hell from a cathedral to kill the devil only to find out you accidentally killed a small child instead? Followed by tomes saying “Glory and approbation to Diablo” or “Hail and Sacrifice to Diablo, lord of terror and destroyer of souls” with pentagrams littered everywhere?

Some snowflake is bound to get offended, and say “Blizzard approves of worshiping the devil” when they’re too dense to realize what game they’re even playing.

Have to admit, I’m now a bit confused. Are you asking for Political Correctness? and thus, denouncing the “socialist ideology.” And Faith and Trust in Religion be restored!

Or, are you asking that Political Correctness be done away with?
Or, are you saying that Political correctness is a “socialist ideology”?

From the Internet:

Definition of politically correct. : conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated.

I would totally buy a Diablo game where we beat the Lord of Terror through the power of socialism and solidarity :joy:

sure i do.

For your title, yes; but for D3, I don’t feel so. A game doesn’t need to be as political incorrect as possible everywhere to be good - actully if they do so it will be bad.

Blz is quite political correct these years though, and it will have an impact on D4.

Well, like I was saying, I don’t see how anyone could interpret D3 or any of the supporting literature as “Political Correct.” And, I can’t think of any game that is striving to be “Politically Correct.”

do they HAVE to be too political correct: imo yes…

Worst thread ever… :-1: :-1: :-1: :-1: :-1:

indeed, they are under submission of terror, so they have no choice.

Diablo doesn’t suffer a case of being overly politically correct.

As for the whole “Religious good vs evil confrontation” the only thing Diablo has dared to do is pull the whole “maybe not all angels are good and maybe not all demons are bad” thing.

Which in theory I personally find more compelling the a bog standard black and white morality.

It sounds more like you want Diablo to make a religious statement of some kind, but despite the heavy use of Christian themes that’s never really what the series has been about.

i respect your opinion.

the part ‘the heavy use of Christian themes’ is true, and it’s less with each new release. i consider a good heaven and bad hell, with a God and a Devil a good start.

-i would like all big enemies of ‘our’ Religion revealed, including the decline of Christians to other Religions or to the ‘Cult of Death’ (you can choose what that cult is by yourself…)

A “eternal struggle” between Angels and Demons is NOT a Christian theme. It’s taken from an older religion.

Isn’t Christianity closer to the Prime Evils in Diablo, with their desire to control humanity.
Then you have the Nephalem comrades fighting for our freedom against the nasty religious fanatics.

sure, that’s is a defendable opinion.
surprised?
you can say this about many Religions, Ideologies and Paganism, Cults and Secret Societies like the Globalists, illuminati, Freemasonry, etc…

what’s wrong about it all is to mix it together and think the related cultures will also mix, without friction or war…

It uses the themes but does its own thing with them rather than rehashing a boring “heaven good, hell bad” storyline. The writing in Diablo has never been anything spectacular, but at least they’re trying to create characters with more depth to them than “they’re bad because they’re a demon and demons are bad”.

Also we already have plenty of religions in the game:

  • The Paladin/Crusader are from different splits of Zakarum faith
  • The Necromancer is from a death cult that believes in preserving the balance of life and death
  • The Barbarians worship the ancestors.
  • A number of characters don’t seem to have any strong faith one way or the other

There is no “our” religion here.

One of the creepies games in ARPG is Diablo 1 and also one of the best games ever made!
Diablo 3 is like this in the Video
I wonder exactly what happened to Blizzard after Blizzard North…

Speaking of which, Whimsyshire was freaking amazing. One of the best things coming out of D3.
