Long time D fan, would like the opinion in particular from D3 fans (since many D2 fans already jump on board and on the D2R forum) if they are happy with the game and worth the steep price tag.
The graphics are great I can actually see all of the details now VV did a great job. I run solo and like to look at things so it was a good investment for me. If you do not care about the graphics it’s the same old D2.
I played D2 for several years before D3. I just do not worship it the way some do.
If you never played D2, it’s worth it, you’ll have a great time.
If you played D2, it’s a waste of money, nothing new besides the graphics and server errors.
Good luck getting on the server to play it. They are having a ton of issues. It’s also like the wild, wild west if you join a multi player game. Be sure you know what to expect.
Appreciate y’all. Definitely seems like with their server problems and not even being able to login and play is an absolute deal killer.
Until Blizzard smartens up and fixes their issues, RIP D2R.
The only time I had an issue was on the first day. The loading screens seem to talk a long time.
That was funny as hell and all true. The best thing on the forum today.
It’s only $40 and pulls more resources from your device than WoW, Overwatch or D3.
There is a horrible server queue issue and game crash’s ever few hours for many.
D2R got rid of “eth ebug”.
D2R got rid of ability to create accounts (mules, etc.)
D2R doesn’t have enough tabs in shared stash many have found and it’s only a month old. Just wait till it’s a year old!
There are too many problems to mention that Blizzard must flesh out thus fixing the horrible game it is right now.
Personally, I wouldn’t even bother downloading it if it was free because a coat of shininess can’t mask the two decade old gameplay underneath it. I played D2 when it was a new release, 20+ years ago. Nothing’s fundamentally changed about it in D2R so unless you have very strong nostalgia glasses, I’m not sure why you’d bother.
No.
Not yet.
They implemented a queue to start a game.
D2R forum is flooded with absurt wait times to start a game.
The reason: Their servers cannot handle the high amount of players. It is going to take a while to properly fix. Architectural thing. In the mean time you can’t even listen to Cain…
Despite the queue, game crashes due to server crashes seem to be frequent still. Less but still.
Loss of progress / found items happens too.
So, probably best to wait a bit longer.
“You paid for this experience…twice”
“Cus you’re a tired old person now”
That was some funny stuff DM, thanks dude!
Edit…just saw the Iggy Pop reference and about lost it!
The game got alot of issues atm and its not only server issues. Only buy it if u after the nostalgia and know that u like the old d2 as it was. But even then u should prolly wait for the ladder unless u planning to play offline.
no. I am waiting for a discount key when aviable. WOnt buy and old game remastered with login issues, full of asians bots , item sellers, illegal and terrible economy, obsolete game mechanics. Just purist streamers can buy this aT 40$. This game values is like 10$
Actually what says it all is
But it was fun to play in beta, I can play my legal copy of original any time I want as is.

How does server troubles count when there was no server for D2 in the first place
I am a D3 fan and had not played the original D2, but I am really having a blast with D2r. I just finished the game on the highest difficulty (Hell) with my paladin, and will now do it again with a sorceress. It is not cheap indeed, but honestly after playing D3 for over 6000 hours and enjoying all these seasons for free, I thought Blizz deserved my 40 bucks for D2r
