Is Diablo IV not about fighting against forces of evil?

i am trying to explain it with examples that you might understand

Sometimes that’s exactly what it takes though.

Takes a demon to kill one.

In a fight of evil against evil, evil wins.

It does need Captain America…namely my old favorite Blessed Shield Crusader. Make Akkhan Great Again! :yum:

What makes her evil though? Mocking the religious institution that is very likely corrupt and negligent?

She’s a character that gets the job done. Remember that almost all the instanes of priests in the Diablo franchise have been messed up. Archbishop Lazarus, anyone?

Consider also that even the heavens in Diablo aren’t the good boys either. They were all very eager to genocide humanity except for Tyrael.

Some evils are less evil than others.
Not that the rogue seems to be particularly evil.

diablo heros have always been anti heros

Not all of them, you have the pally and sader who are “holier than thou” characters but yes, some of them have.

She’s mocking the Priest/the Church, she doesn’t believe in his morality/faith.
I thought that was pretty clear…

the trailer made it pretty obvious the priest is a hypocrite with his earcollection, is that something a “good” man does? hire assassins?

She might identify as evil - in the eyes of that church - doesn’t mean shes evil per se, more like “screw that church and what they stand for”

Adhering to the church would be more a matter of Lawful vs. Chaotic. With church fans being lawful.

i rather be chaotic good than lawful evil

Exactly. Not everyone you play as in the Diablo games is a holy saint. Some use dark magic and disagree on the world and how things should be. But they all agree they don’t want to die by the hands of hordes of demons and lose their world.

Naming a game after its villain kind of pigeon-holes any sequels. After three games about Diablo coming back to life, I’m ready to move on to something else, but the smart money is that D4 is going to be about fighting Diablo. If he or she doesn’t turn into Tathamet at the end, I’m going to be really annoyed.

There’s more to Sanctuary, I mean there has to be. I’ll take more interesting character development wherever I can get it. We’ve got all these hints at rich histories and other lands and have realistically seen little of either. It’s past time the series rebranded, or stays Diablo in name only.

Speaking of characterization, Diablo itself has very little. Ghom had more characterization for Pete’s sake! And all of that comes from what he stands for, his location, and the dumb things he says in his fight. I don’t get much more from Diablo other than “Ha ha, me evil, me step on you, me someone else’s revenge scheme! Maybe me destroy world if me feel like it.”
