I'm really tired of seeing Squirts Necklace everywhere

I’m not going to fool anybody. I am no pro at this game. Therefore, I should look for alternatives that suit my playstyle and my preference for more toughness. ( because being a semi-casual player means way less Paragon, and that means overall less toughness )

Problem is, nobody talks about an alternative to this powerful amulet. No matter where you look, be it guides, Leaderboards, or randos. Everybody uses this item. It’s all-encompassing. It’s starting to bother me quite a bit. Now, I don’t dislike that it is meta. I’m glad the devs made it a good item all those seasons ago, even if it’s not my playstyle.

I only wish that other amulets would be good too. It’d be nice if you could farm Hellfire amulets again or if other Necklaces you drop from Rifts would get a buff/overhaul.

Since this isn’t going to be an option for the rest of this season I’d like to ask what you’d suggest instead of Squirts on any squishy build. I currently have a Marauder DH and I really enjoy the playstyle. Setting up turrets and seeing the effects cover a whole screen is really fun! My problem is that doesn’t get much built-in toughness and Squirts makes it so bad to the point where I just die whenever I try to push to switch things up from doing the 1000th speed GR.

Unfortunately, it’s a reality. ouroboros is actually more powerful, but for single player, it gets put on a follower, because to roll one with DPS, requires same chances to winning a lottery… so, their solution is not to fix it, but move it to follower. Other than that Squirts is HUGE DPS over everything else available, so it’s no choice for those who want to optimize their place.

If you are casual player, then don’t even worry about it and enjoy the game!

I had toughness problem on FoH crusader even without it so I reset first page. 50/50 movement speed and dumbed rest to Vitality. No longer toughness issues and I didn’t seem to lose any damage.

Travelers Pledge if you can also fit in a Compass Rose.

Ouroboros? Wait, what? Did they change something about that Amulet?

Also, thanks for reassuring me not to worry about it too much! Though, I had hoped you gave some replacement options alongside your words of encouragement. What do I replace it with if I’m looking for more toughness?

Pretty sure he meant the Flavor of Time.

sounds like you need to start maining necromancer. literally cant wear squirts if they wanted to.

also could fix this problem easily by adding an Amulet of Royal Grandeur.

Why do you have Depth Diggers in the cube? You Should use Zoey’s belt for damage reduction… and use Awareness instead of Numbing Traps… and keep your distance to monsters.
You could also use the Templar for follower. Make a level 1 strength hero and reroll some dex items to strength. CDR items (like crimson) lets him use the first heal skill more often.

Thank you so much!

I didn’t notice I still had depth diggers equipped. Thought I had swapped the two but apparently, I forgot to save the changes. The extra life of Situational Awareness is also really big. I will still not play with Squirts if this is not enough or if I can’t maintain the buff.

I would have played like this forever if nobody told me I had the wrong cube items

High level molten wildebeest’s gizzard gives a pretty big shield to help maintain squirt’s buff.

Which is part of the allure of Squirt’s… even a crummy one is still likely to double your DPS. And if you get the right one for your build the sky’s the limit. If you can put up with the potential bursts of damage (like having either shields or using mostly ranged attacks) then there’s really no downside to it.

unless you play necro.

let’s not forget necros, they are people too.

So what’s the deal with Necro and Squirt’s? On paper it looks like they’d be able to handle it, especially with some of their builds being insane life generators. They’ve got decent range and mobs to act as meat shields. I never got the hang of the class… though I did play one this season just to try out the sanctified powers.

It would be interesting to see an amulet that could replace Squirts.
It would need to have a unique roll like SoJ.
Maybe one that always had 20-30% elemental dmg and a socket.

Haunted Visions, Wisdom of Kala, RoRG, and Krysbin’s build reliance.

With my DH builds there are 3 legendary amulets I may use depending on what falls, what has the best overall power and/or survivability options.

Squirts is great, to a point. That point is when the weakness in your survival is more of a hassle then the extra damage you get when not taking damage. Once you get past 1-3 shotting mobs, it can be hindrance when getting hit.

For me, I will roll with a Mara’s to help survive, as combating poison is the single best immunity amulet you may want to roll with. Problem is getting one with decent rolls. To date I have only had one nice Ancient thus far.

The other option I will roll with is a Hellfire Amulet, providing again I can get the right rolls on it.

Outside of those 3, I have run the compase rose/traveler’s pledge set. The trick is that if you want to run the dual sets of say UE and CC, you need a ring of royal grandeur someplace in your build, be it the cube or on a finger. That reduces the option of using yet another powerful but often used in every build, convention of elements. I used to run full offensive gear, and would have an F&R, the Squirts, a witching hour and a lacunis bracer, trying to max out damage that way with a CoE in the cube. But that is going heavy on the glass cannon side.

Obviously there are optimum builds that can be better with an more even balance between damage and mitigation.

You need more damage to kill monsters at higher levels, but you also need to either be able to avoid incoming damage or take a few hits to survive and still kill things.

Everyone hits that wall at some GR. lol

Game on.

Ahh… so there’s literally no room for it. Got it.
