D2R… has a presence.
DI… has a presence.
D3… no where to be seen. Guess the Witch Doctor was on secondment to backfill for the Warlock.
D4… has a presence.
On the brightside, don’t have to give AUD$40 to Blizzard ![]()

I was wondering why D3 was left out as well, anybody knows why?
Maybe because many of the former D3 players have moved on and are now playing Immortal or D4. If they would have added the Warlock to D3 I would have paid for it. No interest in going back to D2 I will have it in D4 in April.
Blizzard are not people that would leave money on the table. I strongly suspect there’s an expansion or another dlc in the works in the near future.
There is probably something cooking, I would hope. I can tell from being involved in both communities that D2 has a more active community.
I think there may be more technically challenging for D3 because of how sets work here. In D2, you can just make a set that gives a boost to the character as a whole. This one, they work around specific skills.
I’d guess they’d do D3R at some point. I just hope it doesn’t draw many of the “less-than-stellar” people back who left for D:I, etc.
I’m kinda glad D3 got nothing.
My D2R client now has an error when trying to start the game and it doesn’t look like i am alone!
It’s a no win situation for Blizzard. If they included D3, they would have had to charge for it. There’s no way a free DLC is going boost sales of a game that millions of people bought years ago enough to cover the development. And can you imagine the backlash they would get for trying to charge $25usd for a 14 year old game? I’m sure when revenue starts running dry with the other games, they will release a remaster of D3 with the Warlock to sweeten the deal.
Myself, along with many others would gladly pay a respectable amount for a respectable amount of content. I’m actually surprised they didn’t charge $60, so I will give them credit for that.
If we go by that, D3 have Crusaders, Witch Doctors and Demon Hunters that appeared no where else. Similarly, Spiritborn class wasn’t even an idea before D4. Knowing that Warlock brought forth the magic incantations of Vizjerei, their influence started in Diablo 2 with Horazon and Bartuc, but they were only mentioned sparingly in Diablo 3 lore.
This Vizjerei and Warlock thing is very similar to Witch Doctor, where Ormus was obviously one, giving you a quest to retrieve a ceremonial knife artifact, we haven’t been able to play the class until Diablo 3.
Look up the dialogues with Eirena the Enchantress in D3, for her mentioning a mysterious figure named the Prophet battling the summoners of Vizjerei. Knowing that Enchantress went to slumber 1500 years ago, appears that the Prophet succeeded in a way. To quote:
https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Eirena_the_Enchantress_-_Conversation_Achievement
Player: Tell me about your time.
Enchantress Eirena: Beautiful cities towered up toward the heavens, but they were full of wickedness. The Vizjerei ruled them with wills sharp as stone.
Player: Who were the Vizjerei?
Enchantress Eirena: A clan of mages bound more by their lust for power than by blood. I see that their influence has waned in this age.
Player: Was the Prophet one of them?
Enchantress Eirena: Oh, no. He meant to punish the Vizjerei. They were the first to summon daemons into this land.
They already scrapped The King of the North expansion for Diablo 3 and instead released that content for free to the community. If they’ve done that already, why in the world would they create another expansion for sale when they already cancelled the previous one?
“Blizzard are not people that would leave money on the table. I strongly suspect there’s an expansion or another dlc in the works in the near future.”
I agree. Looking at D2R, those who buy the Reign of Warlord expansion gets Quality of Life improvements, while those who did not buy does not. In addition, they get new areas or modes.
My own guess is that this will also apply to D3 or D3R (Bizzcon), where they will announce a Reign of Warlord expansion for D3 (new sets and new items), along with the quality of life improvements (from Altar of Rites) and Visions in non-season that we have been asking for to sweeten the deal.
That’s just my guess.
I would gladly pay a reasonable amount for that scrapped expansion, with some nice QoL improvements and the warlock class.
Not sure, D3 needs a remaster. Maybe make it darker though.
I certainly would as well, but it wouldn’t be an easy thing. They would need to have an entire dev team devoted to D3 again just to be sure the warlock doesn’t break the game with different seasonal themes along with AoR. The price we would have to pay for something like this would have to be significantly higher than D2R’s expansion costs.
I don’t know, I’d love to play a D3 that looks as good as D4. Though, I probably wouldn’t be so excited to see Greed.
You have a point. The D2 community has been active for decades and has a good following and set of content creators. D3 mostly moved on to D4 in terms of community and content creators. I love D2 and D3 so I’m hoping we get something in this game. D3 just needs a llama type person to create hype. It used to be raxx but he’s moved on sadly.
I was waiting for a comment like this.
There is not enough money in it to make it worthwhile or they would do it is more accurate. Look at D3’s successors. All MTX garbage sales tools.
I seriously doubt adding MTX to D3 would do anything more than drive people away. Best to keep it around to advertise the cash cows cheaply.
