How to make Diablo IV's battlepass a succes

Not everyone has the same amount of time to play, and allowing people with more money than time to still progress is a perfectly reasonable option. As long as there isn’t significant player power contained within, it doesn’t hurt you for someone else to be able to spend money to save time. Hence why I don’t consider it a bad thing UNLESS there is significant player power or irreplacable player power contained within.

Or if it is nearly impossible to max it out within the timeframe the pass is available by a person playing a reasonable amount. Then its a problem too.

I’ve seen several. I don’t play fortnite, but fortnite’s battle pass has always seemed pretty well managed. Genshin’s battle pass is pretty reasonable as well, for a completely non-competitive game. FFXIV’s pvp battle pass is really good, although it doesn’t entirely count for this discussion since it has no paid component that I’m aware of. I’ve heard very good things about warframe’s battle pass, but have no personal experience with it so can’t judge it myself.

I could probably come up with other examples, but I’d need to do research to refresh my memory of the different ones I’ve seen and it doesn’t seem worth the time right now.

One thing to keep in mind is that not every feature of a game is designed for the entire playerbase. Things you don’t like may not be designed with you specifically in mind, but rather other players. Seasonal gameplay is generally not my preference(although I occasionally get the itch) but that doesn’t mean I consider seasonal gameplay bad. Similarly, the battle pass may just… be something you don’t like in a game you like and you just ignore it for the most part.
