Beginning of season was great, I was tearing through the Journey. Now I haven’t been able to make progress on either that or the alter because I can’t get a f’ing Primal Scream to drop. Paragon 750 and doing nothing but running GR100 or so until I run out of keys, then farm Neph Rifts and repeat. Freaking sucks.
‘Petrified’ Screams shouldn’t be that rare even though the loot pool is expanded by embers and shards. Keep at it at GR 90+ and they will drop.
Edit: just saw in another thread that you already have gotten a scream ![]()
Yeah, I got just the 1 the entire time I was going from paragon 1 to 800. Ridiculous. Didn’t even bother to finish the altar because I needed a level 125 augmented gem and wasn’t going to be fluffed with playing god knows how many more hours to try and get another scream.
It’s so true: No reason to play a game one doesn’t like ![]()
Finished GR110 last night. It is kind of funny how one or two extra augments on the gear can make a difference. I completely forgot how much difference the slightest augment can make for burst damage builds.
I was struggling at GR108 with Uliana’s Set, barely making progress between staring at resurrect screens, then I have noticed that I have completely neglected augmenting some better pieces on my equipment. I managed to clear GR110 in 10 minutes when I spared a few minutes to boost them. I’ll just see if I can hit up GR120-130 range with this overpowered theme and a silly experimental setup for Uliana.
I almost completed the Altar but somewhat couldn’t pull myself through to complete any Set Dungeons thus stuck at Season Journey. Currently looking for third Primal to salvage, I am split between salvaging a mediocre Primal Raiment of a Thousand Storms chest piece for the required third Primal or sparing it. I actually got a better Ancient quality one at non-Season but I think I just got greedy.
Update, 2 days later: I have finished the Altar and only one more Conquest away from completing Season Journey for gigs. I already have every cosmetic unlocked offered by this Season so I don’t plan to hurry.
Yep, especially with these rank 3 soul shards acting as rank 125 augment gems.
I’ve only augmented my Chicken Doc build atm but well worth it since without augments, I wasn’t killing elites in fissures as fast as I could.
I only wish I could get a well rolled Arachyr helm and shoulders ![]()
Well, it’s happened… I got rid of my HC zbarb and created a new SC WD for all the extra WD builds I’m gonna be keeping in my line up. Threw my zuni carnevil setup on and leveled from 1 to 70 via a few rifts… was fun!
This should make stash tetris easier hopefully if I’m able to have the two WDs sorted with the builds I intend both to have in NS already setup.
Got a bit bored of farming fissures tonight so I decided to put together all those builds I’ve been collecting gear for on my alt WD…
- Mundunugu
- Jade
- HT Garg
- HT Firebats
- HT Zombie Bears
All set up and ready to go… after a bit of leg gem leveling since half my needed gems are all fresh still.
Surprisingly, my bottleneck this season seems to be gems… I don’t have enough of them to augment all these builds atm. ![]()
I’ve played so much (too much?) wizard that I got lots of set items with duplicates for other classes. Like Tragoul death nova on my season start necro. Or make an UE or GoD DH. I have chosen to work a bit with crusader as I already had an alt crusader season hero for rolling strength items for the templar. Akkhan Condemn is interesting and strong but somewhat of a total spam fest, and a bit hard to get to grips with (for me at least).
The Invoker is simpler and quite strong at the same time. Much like Firebird. And there are several skills to choose from for the Invoker, which can also be a bit confusing (what supporting skills are best at what GR level for example). And then there is the AoV fist of heavens for speed farming stuff.
I have fond memories of playing witch doc a lot in the past, but must confess that I have salvaged all the WD pieces that have dropped this season.
Sounds like the past 20 seasons for me ![]()
WDs have been in a pretty bad state for group play for a while and whilst the solo set LBs have made them a little more bearable to play as, the lack of zdps and true solo pushing potential makes it hard to main as WD most seasons.
Luckily chicken doc is a fun farming build.
Actually pushing potential for WD is not that bad - main issue is that it doesn’t have a “true” speed build (GR100+ in under 90 seconds) like other classes and you will lack that in Paragon/Gear for the same playtime.
But yes, neither Mundunugu, nor Arachyr shouldn’t have been nerfed after one season being “good”.
Both are very fun builds that I enjoyed back then. Had a few fun setups with those even, but as I see from the simulator apparently they don’t apply well for this Season. I ended up making setups that are tougher and durable but as expected their damage slightly lacked.
I wouldn’t say it’s in a bad state in terms of power or impact on their role, but their maintenance is a bit harder to organize as much as I gander. Compared to current meta which is already hard as it gets; playing a WD build in 4-player setup could be a tougher challenge. Maybe, players at the future would figure a way to include WD in meta groups but as it stands in present, it’s a hassle.
For a start, WD is a very crowd control heavy class that can fiddle with the flow of aggression and requires you to apply damage over time effects constantly which can end up causing lag. I don’t know if it makes matters worse or better, but Witch Doctor also gains strength from their pets and highly benefit from their presence. Yet, pets commit to a target and might steal aggression away from support, causing them to miss their mark.
I haven’t tried higher than a 132 with Invoker. It seems to have enormous power against elites and bosses with the Remnant of Pain in weapon (giving crit damage to incapacitated enemies) and a suitable Terror shard in helmet. If the rift guardian stands still and is blinded or stunned the health drops with tremendous speed (it looks like you already have a lot of stricken stacks and that CoE is constantly on the preferred power cycle when compared to other classes’ boss fights).
I haven’t tried Invoker at S25 or S30 but Akkhan, and I didn’t go higher than GR130-132 or something with it as well.
As I remember Invoker has a potential to deal Area Damage% with thorns by very specific skills but this Season guaranteed critical hits from Fragment of Pain is more alluring thus it’s more useful when you spare space for crowd control. I think I have ran a regular Akkhan with a few tweaks for more toughness back at S30, I used Guardian’s and it was capable of fighting 5-6 Elite groups at once, it was quite fun.
I do 150 on invoker and this very nice build this season ,MB best season for this set
