[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

Its been quite a while since I have last played. (1/15/19)

Going through my extra gear and noticed i have some quad gloves non ancient. Out of these two , which is better to use?

Non ancient
atk speed 5%
CHD 49%
CHC 9%
AD 18%

Ancient
str 926
CHD 9.5%
AD 20%
+460 str

side-notes:
1393 paragon
16,437 main stat with ancient gloves.
15,331 main stat with quad non ancient gloves.

Non-Ancient are better.

But get some Ancient gloves, stat!

Yea looking at some my gear i have to farm for new pieces. I appreciate the advice.

Just some stuff for WW barbs to think about and test over the next couple days on the PTR. I will be spending multiple hours testing.

Key concerns
-Incoming damage due to the loss of mantle of channeling and the best way to offset this. My first test will be to use superstition instead of one of the damage passives.
-Understanding how rend will function exactly. Do we only get the base rune or can we have rend on our bar and get our selected rune. One of the runes for rend is healing which may be necessary.
-Proper rolls for the new build? I’m mainly concerned with area damage. Will area damage be a stat we still want do to rend handling it for us anyways? If we want close to 100% uptime on wrath we might need attack speed and cooldown on weapons. We now have the option of rend rolls on shoulders and chest. If ww is no longer our main source of damage and only there the stack stricken and LPF and resource regen then going away from ww rolls on helm and boots can be another route.
-Talents/passives. Healing from rend-bloodlust on our bar? Will we now use battle rage-swords to ploughshares or Marauders rage?

With my current gear I have the ability to test all of these options except the rend roll on chest and attack speed/cooldown on one weapon so I can come very close. If there is anything else I am missing or additional concerns please speak up as I can test almost any set up.

Edit: Could we possibly have the option of a double element cycle on COE or one big burst depending on the chosen playstyle?

is using slender and rogue a good alternative ? want to try something new before season 19 starts.

Haven’t played new WWRend yet, but I want to try with Executioner or Messerschimidth’s Reaver, Ambo in cube

Wondering how bad can it be.

Check the OP – it talks about it at length.

The IB set is currently inferior to the BK set, but that might change in Season 19.

yay hit my short term goal of 110 . Finished with 1 second remaining. Been using blood funnel with rend bloodbath, i know its not optimal but im having fun.
(17,652 mainstat, 1424 paragon)

*got a new coe and swapped rend bloodbath to ancient spear (harpoon). Happy with the change, managed to get 112 in 13:24. Swapped my helm gem to just get the 112. The extra 500 main-stat was enough; to go from running out of time before the rift guardian, to finishing in time.

With 113 i keep running out of time before the rift gaurdian. Only things i can think of is:
change amulet to flavor time (Amethyst gem in helm)
or hellfire + 100-150 para. (diamond in helm)

Not happy with the Post PTR nerf to WW build which took away Lamentation’s nice 200% bonus damage to Rend.

This has effectively cut WW build viability this coming season down to the bottom rung as WW builds have not seen the light of day ever since they got nerfed into the ground (Set originally provided 25,000% damage to WW)

At least with the 200% to rend my long term WW barb was at least able to clear 100 in about 6-8 minutes without dying.

Now that Lamentation has been nerfed pre-season the same exact character can barely complete GR 99 in 12 minutes without dying half a dozen times…

I just crafted a primal Captain Crimson’s Silk Girdle.
It rolled with
Str
Ar
Armor (doh)
Some useless skill
Thorns secondary

I assume the answer is no, but is it worth rolling the useless skill to VIT or a secondary to freeze to proc APDs and use them until I find an ancient with the correct rolls?

Pros of vit - not worth the time and mats/gold to roll freeze on a poorly rolled item.
Pros of going for freeze - I have perfect primal APDs that I’d really like to use, but have serviceable Morticks.

I think I find so few primals that I’m trying to make the CC belt useable when it’s really not, but was interested in advice. I didn’t really play this char last patch so I’m just now trying out CC3 variant.

Roll the skill to Vitality. Pretty nice find.

Time to update for 2.6.7

Thanks for the quick response, Free!
If I do that my options are to run Morticks or use smash to proc APDs?

I crafted Crimson set, but the set bonuses are the old one, that one with 20 AR or something similar. How do I get the new one with the CDR bonus?

I just crafted them and got the new bonus. I played Season 18 and used the new Crimson there, so it’s likely that after season end merge, I ended up with the newest one.

Oddly enough my existing Sage pieces on a farming character got updated, and it was said that you’d have to refind the plans. Maybe that was just to craft new versions again, aside set bonus is usually updated?

If you don’t have the new captains my suggestion would be to run bounties to see if you can re-find the updated plans.

Must be it, then. I guess Pro said something about, but I didn’t understand back then. Thanks

Good luck!

You have to re-farm the plans via bounties. That goes for all new crafted sets.

Anyone testing T16 builds? I played around with various and resource was a problem due to sprint spamming. Fastest build while still one-shotting everything at only 14k mainstat was for me:

BK for speed and fury
Wastes 6
Goldwrap for immortality
Cube: ambo, lamentation, zodiac
Rings: avarice, soj, whatever amulet
Gems: trapped, taeguk, hoarder
Skills: all speed related (marathon ferocity bravado), insanity, wind shear, bloodbath

Can’t fit in chilanik but still fast and strong for T16. Other ideas?
