[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

mmm. There are break points but they are not what you need to focus on. For core zodiac you need to focus on keeping WOTB and IP up 100% or close to it. The attack speed in the build is there for zodiac procs not to hit breakpoints. Maybe someone else can answer the breakpoint question as I do not know.

I prefer hoarder, taeguk, gizzard. Even without CC I have 100% uptime for WotB (thanks to EF) and 100% to damage from Squirt is very handy at low paragon.

yah thats fine but everything dies instant for me. So i need the cooldown from other places

Curious what GR I should be able to clear on my WW Barb. Ancient Gear, Ancient Weapons, Gems 110 Stricken, Trapped, Tageuk. Using the same build Lucky used to clear 120’s. Current clear is Gr 100 fairly easily. 1200 paragon. Rolls on gear aren’t perfect and I don’t know how to link my character for feedback. Currently logged out as My Zbarb setup so I don’t think that helps haha. Will add a link after work. Should also mention it’s Crimson variant.

When you say “fishing” does that mean opening a Gr and if it’s a good map run it and if it’s a bad one leave game and try again?? Or does it means speeding through map1 to map2 quickly?

Hard to say, Lessok. Armory profiles are down so you won’t be able to link your toon and I can’t view it. You need correct rolls on gear, so I’d have to know those. Even then, a lot depends on skill and willingness to fish. The OP addresses estimated clears, so check there.

Yup. When you fail to clear a GR over and over, you need to start fishing. Ideally, you need a good Floor 1–something huge and open with good mobs. You also need one or two good Pylons. Missing any combo of that? Behind or even on the timer by 3/4 of the way through and Conduit or good floor in sight? Leave and remake.

Sounds good thanks. Another question for Augmenting I’ve been doing 90lvl gems on everything because I can level them to 90 quickly solo without using my Zbarb setup. That should be a good place to start? Not sure the most efficient way to do it. Or just gear farm until the end of the season and then Augment all the best pieces I’ve collected?

I would use a build that has a better success rate at 100+, like Fire EQ. You should be able to push that up to 110 or so with some practice. Use that to level gems, then Aug your WW gear and push late in the Season.

Would save several hundred keys for that.

I forged a Crimson Girdle (waist slot). Not sure what should be enchanted to improve it:

Strength
Vitality
All Resist
Increased Bash damage
35% extra gold
+1 gold/health radius pickup

change this to life% or armor in most cases…

With a very similar barb, I did an easy 108 on a good rift with poor pylons and Cold Snap. With enough fishing 110 seems very doable.

Well did 101-102-103 all easy mode tonight moved onto the season ladder rank 400’s.

1202 paragon. Should push to 106 tomorrow easily and keep moving on up.

Nice–keep up the good work.

All right, folks. The 2.6.7 PTR Notes are live, and Barbs are getting some major buffs! I’d like to start some discussion on how the build is going to change going forward.

The items that concern this build are as follows:

  • Wrath of the Wastes
    • 6-Piece Bonus: The damage bonus now also applies to Rend
  • Lamentation
    • Additional Legendary Power: Increases the damage of Rend by [150-200%]
  • Ambo’s Pride
    • New Legendary Power: Attacking with Whirlwind also applies Rend and the total damage of Rend is dealt over 1 second

Obviously, this is a massive buff to Rend, so let’s talk about build composition.

For pushing, I think Ambo’s will boot Furnace and Echoing Fury from the Cube. Rend will benefit from the Wastes 6 multiplier (10k) + Lamentation (200) + Ambo’s and will detonate that new total damage in 1 second. That is a lot of additional damage over the course of the rift and against RGs.

There is, however, a down-side.

Where will we fit Lamentation?

We could kick Mantle from the Cube, but that extra DR could be sorely missed. If we wear it, that will rule out the Crimson’s variant since that relies on wearing the Crimson’s belt.

So, that forces us to make a decision. On paper, the damage boost by Rend (with all its new multipliers) is bigger than Crimson’s, and suggests we’ll go with Wastes 6 + BK with Ambo’s and Lamentation in the Cube. There is no new DR introduced in this, so we’ll still need IP and Parthan’s/Mortick’s.

I would have greatly preferred Lamentation and Ambo’s function as we suggested in our proposal as it would have allowed us to 1) scale Rend damage with density, and 2) drop IP for Rend-based DR, but I’m still eager to test this out.

Thoughts on a revamped 4x Rend build?

I have to say (without testing, mind you–so I hope to be proven wrong) that I’m disappointed but not surprised. Blizz had a good start to buffing ww barbs with Crimson’s and EF. Naturally, rather than build on the new items, they ignore them and head down a completely different path with Rend. The real inanity is that they are not changing play style in the least by now auto-applying rend. They’re just taking away 1 (and potentially 2) new ways of adding damage (and dr) and substituting in another. And for a bonus they’re slowing us down.

The net effect of everything these changes do could be done far more easily by just tuning Skullgrasp.

It seems that introducing a few items at a time, they may be losing the real focus in really making and improving new builds and existing builds.
Sure they are providing some build diversity and optional gear but the net changes are really minimal.
Soooo many unaddressed issues, ie. mighty weapons, skills-runes, maps-density, 2 hand weapons, etc.
Piecemeal introduction of the items really will make it so much more work for them in the future, that other significant changes will probably never happen…

IK4 + Wastes 6 sounds good

Was also thinking of using Ambo’s and EF in hand and dropping BK swords then you can still rock Furnace in the cube along with Lamentation and you can keep Crimson 2 piece. Just a theory that’ll need to be tested and sadly I’m out of town next weekend. Lots of potential to see many variations of WW this next season.

Either something is missing or there intention was to give ww barb a huge buff but very squishy.

Running APD and dropping either Skull Grasp or COE for BOM while using Stomp ability is the tankiest way to go.
