Has Blizz ever in history made a seasonal theme permanent?
Kind of. The theme of one of the seasons was a free Legacy of Nightmares effect. People loved that so much they created the Legacy of Dreams gem.

I know what you are thinking Blayze. Not sure that is gonna fly. Allowing the FnR build to be run in push non season would make wwrend very OP. We are already way ahead of their 130@5k balancing standards. I did 131 at 4300 paragon after only 10 keys used. There is a player on the china server that did 137 at 3600 paragon. This season buff is at minimum worth 5 GRs.
Now if they made it a gem like LOD that is more realistic but I don’t think it will happen. It would replace BOT and give us a 60% buff ruffly. We would still be OP though.

Chris is right. Another permanent Season theme is unlikely.
Folks should also remember that Season clears are not representative of the build’s actual potential. While nowhere near as OP as last Season’s theme, I believe the current Kanai theme is worth a lot more than +5 GRs–perhaps as much as +10. It might not seem like adding FnR into the build is worth that much damage, but considering that all of Rend’s ticks are more or less condensed into a single detonation, and all of those condensed ticks benefit from FnR’s multiplier, that’s pretty substantial.
I’m hoping many of you will stick around in non-Season next patch and continue pushing the build. Just be prepared to really feel the loss of FnR.

I am not sure how much the FnR buff is worth in seasons vs. non-seasons. Mathematically, I would expect it to be at ≤ 5GRs. I suspect that it is much less than 10 GRs given:

Why even post a chart here @microchartsalot. That is exactly what free said and myself has said. I said at minimum +5 grs and free said as much +10 grs meaning anything in between would be an expected gain. Also remember there is still a lot of time left for clears to happen before era end. It is far more likely that season best of 142 could get higher then non season 147 at a lot less paragon. I would even go as far as say I fully expect a 150 clear this season.
Rank 10 non season did a 144 at 6764 paragon. A 6k paragon gain by FnR would give someone with the same paragon a 150 clear.

The leaderboards are interesting to look at. You can also compare leaderboards for top players with similar paragon levels. For example in non-season, the top clear for someone less than 5K paragon is GR 138 in non-season and 142 in season.
The top 30 players in non-season with less than 6K paagon average ~GR136 while in seasons, it is ~ GR 140.
You give that same person 5k paragon and 5gr gain what do they clear?
Many people havnt even started to push in season yet. They are still spamming 122 rat runs all day.

Yes time will tell. Just remember players in season have ruffly half the paragon that top non season players have. When those top season players start approaching 6-7k I believe it will really make you open your eyes. And 150s will be getting fished.

Someone mentioned a possible buff to wwrend and micro was all over that.
On a side note I hit 5k today. Gonna get away from these tables for a bit as I would like to hit 6k sometime in the near future.
Congratulations on the 5K paragon. I hit my much more modest goal of 2K paragon recently. I tend to play mostly solo, with family, or public groups.
I think the seasonal F+R WW build is about 2-3 GRs better than the non-seasonal Captain C version. It’s a bit “more better” than the core build.
Here’s the numbers:
100 “base” damage.
Season F+R-
100 * 1.5 (Focus) * 1.5 (Restraint) * 1.14 (Doombringer) * 1.12 (better rolls on rings) = 287.28
Non-Season Captain C-
100 * 1.3 (IB) * 1.6 (CC) * 1.08 (+1 dps passive) = 224.64
(I looked through all the highest seasonal clears so far, and none have had 4 damage passives, hence this final 1.08x multiplier for the CC setup).
So, 287.28 / 224.64 = 1.279, i.e. +27.9% damage, or a little less than 2 GRs. Add in the nice grouping you get from Ground Stomp and that moves it up to maybe +2-3 GRs.
The seasonal build is obviously a hell of a lot tougher, but on the damage front, the difference is not that enormous.

Nice. My goal for S20 is to hit 2K paragon like last season. I should manage that this week. Of course, that’ll only be the equivalent of about 180 to my non-seasonal, which would take it to around 3.9K so I’m years behind you as I don’t do meta stuff.
I had two goals this era. 5k and a GR 136 clear. I now think 137 is a better goal. I am still hunting an Area/crit/crit band of might then I will go full push for a 137 clear and be set.

I underestimated how good the WD meta is now. Almost all my runs are with 10-11k players. Running 135s in 3-4 minutes is stupid good. I might just get another 200 paragon if I put my mind to it.
