Nice! Is arcane your preferred secondary, or would you rather have physical… or something else?
Oof, it’s the new pushing story, same as the old pushing story!
BTW, I saw you got bumped out of the top 10 for Frenzy… gotta get back in there and reclaim your spot! Also, man, you are really racking up the paragon… 8k incoming!
Ideally physical>poison>arcane IMO. My old ones had physical but I’m not gonna be picky. At least they have a resist on them. I wont use them until I pull squirts out of the stash.
Daaang, first Rage now you with Primal quad gloves. When am I going to get mine?!
That 146 was a poc run, I’m confident I can bump it up to at least 147 for wwrend. Frenzy will have to wait, but I’ll be back for my seat.
Core can officially run LPH build with into the fray at lets just say 8k. Both me and Seras have been doing another round of testing to try an get it to work. Seras told me he was able to make it work with 3 rolls(2xweapon,bracers). I thru on my defensive gear today and fished a bit with LPH bracers and one weapon. I almost cleared 145 twice just messin around on suboptimal GRs. The opposite problem happens as expected. We become super squishy in big packs and very tanky on RG’s. The good thing is the trash we actually want don’t hit very hard so it shouldn’t be an issue.
Fishing for 146 has begun. All elemental damage is a big issue when we gather huge pulls with LPH build. I can just barely get by with a few deaths if I dance around and find
spots with no elemental damage. Although I am only using 2 rolls I do have pretty much perfect gear. I bumped my health up to 800k to help with some of the spike damage. Arcane seems to be causing the biggest issue.
Like chris said, ITF is the next progression in our build. The dps increase is immense and can close the gap with the 5 digit paragon players.
chris - are you sure you need 800khp? I feel that trade off is too much of a hit to your overall str which can also help with ehp. But then again, I am running 3x lph, I can get away with 4500k vit.
Here’s a run a did this morning, went into second map at 75% progression with a 5 minute lead. Terrible follow up maps so I just left the game.

I played around with the 2 pieces of gear I had. Honestly I just picked a health number and went with it. I was having big issues healing fast enough. But on the damage side it was wonderful. I don’t think healing will be a huge issue if we spawn good trash. Good trash just vanishes in 146 for me.
At our current level, I feel 650 ~ 700k is the sweet spot. Less if you want to play super squish and fish for perfect map.
I’m on the hunt for a second LPH weapon. With a second one for sure.
148 is looking to be a challenge. I ran through two scenarios over the weekend and found that RG (ember teleporting) with no power is a 4:30 minute fight. Saxtris with power is just a bit less than 3 minutes.
Going to need a juicy 1 floor, 4-corner festering, SSSSSS+ tier mob, minimum 7~8 elite pack condi to attempt the RG fight with enough time. Looks like a 3k ~ 5k key attempt if I really want this clear.
I’m already super burnt out going for all the lowest paragon world clears in the previous era so I’m probably not going to attempt this. Will probably take a 146~147 clear and just sit tight and enjoy the game. Will save the final push for Rank 1 until I join the big boys table.
Closest I got going into map 2 was a 5 minute lead and 75% progression. First map was a 4-corner festering with 6 elite spawns (standard for festering) + 1x condi and the pack that comes with it. Mob type was those Red Fallens so they’re not too great for progression.
That leaves you with the requirement that you need to spawn the RG within 2 minutes, and have a power to even have a shot at closing. That 2 minutes is a super tight window, as just grouping the mobs can take up a huge chunk of that time before you can even dps.
The RNG needed for a big first map and a really good follow up is immense. I really wish I would have not gone for the lowest world clears and burnt myself out now that I’m getting into the higher 140 runs. I know it’s possible, but I’m now getting into the mentality of easy clears instead of grinding endless keys.
Hmmm sounds like someone I know.
You hush . . .
HARRUMPH
Rank 3 US, got it!
This run I went with 2x LPH rolls (Bracer + Offhand) and changed the Battle Rage rune with Into the Fray. Amulet was slotted with Squirts but didn’t have a use for it. The key previous to this I had a Hellfire amulet on, go figure.
This build is super glass cannon, you hit like a truck, but also take hits like a wet noodle. Not for low paragon runs, unless you’re playing content well below your clear potential.
After reviewing the run, here’s some take away points:
-
With the follower emanate update, I’ve changed my game play slightly to DPS more as I progress through the map. Previously, I would spawn the conduit, then pull the entire map to it. Now I’m pulling smaller groups and dpsing them down right away to spawn more pylons.
-
I was also banking on spawning a 3rd pylon in hopes of power/shield for boss, hence late utilization of 2nd pylon.
-
Fat fingered pathing around orbs and spawned RG by accident. Was intending to check floor two.
-
RG fight I could have managed my fury better to get more uptime on Berserker Rage. When I’m laser focused, it’s easy to time my zodiac rends and stamps to coincide with a full globe during Phys CoE. This run I was too hyped!
-
Potentially could have avoided first death had I played more cautiously around the perimeter.
GG, spin to win fellas!
I’m only 2 seconds into the video and I’m already jealous of how wide that monitor is.
Having watched all of it now, lovely spear-work. Great clearance. Well done.
Good job buddy! Gotta be the lowest paragon clear with ItF, by a long shot. I bet you’re hitting 100% CHC on many of those pulls.
You gonna start working on 147 or 148?
Thx buddy, the ultrawide screen definitely helps to scout out the map.
Hmm, probably not to 47/48. I didn’t like being so low on the leader board so I went with a low fishing tier to move up a bit, haha. Going to play some other classes for now. Will revisit barb maybe towards end of year for R1 push.
After a few weeks of season it is becoming very clear that my preseason thoughts on wwrend are becoming correct. Big damage buff at low paragon gave wwrend a huge start but at the cost of area damage. It is clear that players are starting to struggle as predicted because they need to stack CDR instead of area damage. For a build that was ranked as #4 overall only behind 3 monk builds is really under performing. Just look at the world LBs and it will become very clear. A couple things to point out. WD is the top trash killer in season. Yes they are garbage in solo because they are squishy but you give them support and they pop off. DH was expected to be bad in solo push but is by far the best speed build in the game. Guys are already doing 2 minute 125s 3 weeks into season. So barbs get to go back to zbarbing again by default. I don’t even use ethereals to farm keys as it is a inferior build to BK’s
Wiz 10x 150s and 86 of the top 100
Necro 1x 150 and overall rank#1
Sader 1x 150
monk 3x 150
DH top clear is 146 and is rank 95.
Barb top clear is 146 and is rank 97
WD top clear is 146 and is rank 137
I’ve got a 4.1K damage Grandfather with Ambo’s Pride power on it, so I can use The Furnace in the Cube. The damage is super, but the lack of armour from not having Istvan’s is extremely noticeable and I’m finding it really, really squishy. Not really pushed yet. Got a GR123 at 1183 paragon, in 11 min 57 sec so it’s got plenty of juice left in it. I wasn’t using spear, needed Ignore Pain to stay alive. I suspect I’ll need to farm some more paragon to get my armour up so I can drop IP and re-incorporate spear.
Welp, one day later there’s a 150 barb clear. About 5.5k paragon.
I think you’re right that this build is underperforming, relative to expectations of its performance vs other classes and builds. (Though, some folks like JustinFan were ringing the alarm bell on this since the PTR. ) I think a lot of that is actually those other builds overperforming, rather than Barb being unexpectedly crappy.
Because, I think you were obviously also right when you said that this was going to be the strongest-ever version of Rend. That’s pretty clearly been demonstrated: nobody’s ever done 140 at sub-2k paragon before, 150 at 5-6k, etc.
At least not without utilizing “elemental” season powers that let you clear 150 with zbarb.
This is exactly what I meant.
