This has no bearing on my feelings on the barb Nerf one way or the other, but necro thorns being nerfed is HUGE. A solo necro lod mage build is going to cap out at about 133 with 50k main stat. The current top s18 lod mage push is 120, and that is with a seasonal buff that the build can utilize pretty well.
My top clear was 115 this season with 1.6k paragon and missing 30% damage from items. I could have fished for a 116 but didn’t feel like it. Using that as a base, with the 30% extra damage I was missing on gear that’s like 2 grs, so 118 with those. I was at 20k or so main stat. Using darkpotater as a reference he had 50k main stat, so 2.5x the damage with 10k paragon. Plus higher level gems. Plus more fishing = 130ish lod mage clears for the top 5 or so players.
That being said, thorns necro needed to be nerfed.
This clear is from <NewEra> Schm0n in game, and he is paragon 7839, not 3084 like it’s written on diabloprogress (Last Checked: 2 years ago at the time of this post), so false alarm.

Please stop. Your last sentence calling for a Necro nerf?!? Why? Let em have a build that does 150. Who cares? 150 is the cap so if one class gets there first then who gives 2 ,s. In following patches orher classes will get there too. For now can we just focus on Lamentation staying at 200 or maybe being 300 to 400.

Yeah nobody that mains necro wants thorns to be the push meta for solo, even the people that play it. Also I’m not calling for a necro nerf, it’s already happened. The Nerf will be good for necros in the long run anyways. Once lod mages is the top pusher then something else will get buffed in a season or two to make it or another build more competitive for pushing. Thorns necro really really skews the push numbers for necro and make necro appear more op than it is. It’s why if you looked at pro’s graph the necro line was super wonky. Lod drops off but thorns can push super high through a broken mechanic
I’ve played D3 off and on since it was released, and I have never posted on these forums until a few days ago. I just want to add my 2 cents- I love seeing the response and conversation this thread has generated. Barbs have always been my favorite class and I hope that the lamentation nerf gets at least partially (or fully) reverted. After years of barbs being at or near the bottom of the ladder, it stung to have a few days of glory followed by this. Here’s to hoping, demon slaying, and spinning to win.
