Could we get some follower damage testing.
Like taking the followers out and whacking on some skeletons.

Why doesn’t anyone think of the poor skeletons?
They just stand there, day in and day out, and take all sorts of abuse. We should organize a skeleton appreciation day. We can have a barbecue and give them all party hats or something.

Ok, testing done.
Skeletons are just fine, since it turns out the followers still essentially do 0 damage!
Of actual note: the Templar’s “Onslaught” ability gives an additive damage increase.

He doesn’t hurt them because it’s his job.
He does it because he likes it.

The mentioned player did a GR52 with his zBarb + thorns follower as well.
Not zero damage but still weak.
