Experience pools RNG

I thought it did lol.

Ez enough to test; count how many 120s you get pooled with it & without. Im stuck at work so maybe someone else can try.

Sorry if someone said it before. 240 comments lol. But these are some of my favourite spots to farm pools apart from act 1. Take a look if you are interested. Having a fast moving build also helps.

Act 2
Howling plateau. Big map but it can spawn several. Just follow the road.

Road to Alcarnus. Move towards Maghda. Usually, I find everytime one pool here.

Act 3
The battlefields. Right where the portal is but go backwards and climb the stairs where the two guards are standing.

Bridge of Korsikk. Right next to the portal

Tower of the damned lvl1 and tower of the cursed lvl1. A few meters next to the portals.

Act 4
Lower realm of infernal fate. The spawn location is super close to the portal

Realm of fractured fate. The whole map is big but it can spawn 2-3 usually.

Good advice on the spots where alot of pools spawn, only thing is OP only uses impale build wich can be a bit slow or run out of recource while vaulting. In addition, he can make a super speed build with krelm belt, wreath of lightning, wrech braces etc and save that build in armory, call it pool finding build. When back at town he can switch between builds, only thing is to use the big cooldown skills on the same slots otherwise “cant change build while skill is on cooldown”.

Also he can run 1 rift every 4 grifts and find some pools in the rift and some fast poolspots in the 30 seconds he has after rift close, and new game when pools depleted.

It means u need to get 1.45 pools to use the pools fully. As 1 pool last for half of your current lvl. 1 GR98 for u will burn more than 1 pool in other words. So u have to find 2 pools each run or u be unpooled for a portion of the run.

In your case u need to find 2 pools and start next GR in 53 seconds to stay equally as efficient as no pools at all. Thats 26.5 sec for each pool.

However since u actually only burn 1.45 and u gain 2 pools each run that would result in that u got a 1 extra run every third run which means u got roughly around 35 sec for each pool to stay equal to no pool. (Not sure about this last part). But thats rly optimising your pool usage.

Pools count for the close (GR close double dips on pools actually, you get 1.25*1.25 = 1.5625x XP bonus), but % xp bonuses only count for monster kills.

It’s actually easier than your method to test. XP close is a fixed amount of XP (assuming you have enough pools to cover it fully or don’t have pools at all). You could just close a GR120 with no % xp anywhere, note how much XP you get, then close one with a bunch of % xp bonus (helm shard in, Leoric’s + Ruby + Hellfire + Cain’s on your follower), and see if you get more XP. Spoiler: you don’t.

Counting actual xp numbers with D3s GUI is pretty tedious si I’ll take your word for it

It’s not that bad. Well, at least at higher paragon, anyway. If you’re high enough that a close won’t advance you a level, you just mouse over your XP bar, write down the number, close the rift, then mouse over again and take the difference. It only gets tricky if you are low paragon and the close is giving you like 2.5 levels or something.

EDIT: Here.

8.1% XP, before close XP: https://i.imgur.com/qJcnIg5.jpg
8.1% XP, after close XP: https://i.imgur.com/10UZtUw.jpg

75,511,146,457 - 52,117,264,345 = 23,393,882,112

0% XP, before close XP: https://i.imgur.com/UTgxCpx.jpg
0% XP, after close XP: https://i.imgur.com/cXKSjDR.jpg

118,445,273,612 - 95,051,391,500 = 23,393,882,112

Exactly identical close XP with 8.1% bonus XP and with 0% bonus XP.

I’m too lazy (yes, I will admit it) to build a dedicated speed build. s6 impale is mostly good enough for me. infinite vault makes it reasonably fast (not the super fastest obviously), and when timed right, you don’t have any real resource issues.

I refuse to use the armoury, just too buggy for my personal liking.

Thank you, will test further.

edit:

These, plus the act 1 locations have been added to my runs. I’m averaging 2 pools per run. Does that sound average?

2nd edit: I’ll just add that some locations, aren’t generating XP pools at all, for instance:

Bridge of Korsikk - not a single XP pool in 80 odd runs.

Tower of the damned lvl1 - not a single XP pool in 80 odd runs.

Lower realm of infernal fate has had a single XP pool generate in 80 odd runs (so basically 0).

I’m typically having to do 4 complete runs of your suggested locations + Act 1 locations that I was already doing in order to get 10 XP pools…
