idk about that but my rig is very old and i was be able to run diablo 4 beta version
mine is
intel i7 860 (1st gen)
ram 16Gb DDR3
Display card gtx 750 ti 2 gb
Storage 1TB SSD
My current PC can’t run it on max settings, quite the opposite… had to lower alot of settings to get it to run as smooth as I wanted, but my next PC will be able to run everything maxed out
Will take a year and a half until then though… so probably get the new PC in time for first expansion!
To think that the reason I was going to upgrade my rig was to pl
purchase D4, but I held off and I’m glad I did. Now I’m waiting for Titan Quest 2 to upgrade (which will be approximately a year later) my rig and having wait, I’ll get a little more for my buck. So glad I waited!
11 month necro bump
Yeah, the bump was bad but…
That idea you had about Best Buy…as someone else said. Not a good idea.
I bought a Gaming PC from them a little over 2 years ago and it cost like $1500 or $1600. Then about 6 to 8 months ago, my wife’s PC died, so I gave her mine and we bought a new one from Amazon and it was like half the price that’s lightyears ahead in the stat department.
Nope, Best Buy is just bad. If you’re like me and don’t really know what you’re looking for, since they work on commission, they’ll sell you the most expensive/least value thing they have in stock.
We don’t care about D4.
Possibly the most accurate and truthful statement on the forums right now.
If you don’t understand the field you’re shopping in, bring someone with you who does. My brother’s an auto mechanic, whereas I basically max out my knowledge at checking my oil reserve. So I bring him with me when I shop for cars or need to get something diagnosed or my inspection’s up, etc. He does the same with me when he needs something computer related. We both would turn to our mother if we have questions on anything in the culinary industry.
People need to realize it’s okay to admit their ignorance. Just, find someone you trust, who knows more than you. So that you don’t get fleeced.
I don’t get that mindset. There’s zero downsides to upgrading your computer if you can afford to of course. It’s not just gaming that improves, the entire user experience becomes smoother. I upgraded my CPU (from a quad core ryzen 3 2200G to a hex-core ryzen 5 5500) and RAM (from 16 to 32 GB) recently (my GPU was already good enough) and not only all my games run a LOT better now, but the day to day user experience in the OS is also vastly improved. Things open faster, load faster, are more responsive, and so on.
Why do you always feel the unnecessary need to post “necro” whenever someone posts in a thread over a week old? Is the subject still relevant? Did the person posting post something relevant TO the topic?
Hint, the answer is yes to both questions.
Also, what constitutes a “necro”? You can never seem to answer this question.
This is true.
I guess the only times I could see where there is no upside is when you’re upgrading with components that do not benefit what you use. Example, if you don’t play anything newer and you’re adding in a bunch of RAM just because you have the space.
Careful now, Mattlot.
Since you called him out, he might delete the post. He does that, ya know. I’ve been calling him out for years for stuff like that and usually he’ll post something. Then regret it and then delete every post he has in the thread.
Like you could call him out for coming to the D3 forums, hopping into a thread about improving this game to just “The game is dead!” with the implication that it would be better to play D4.
For clarity, this thread was necroed after 11 months, not a week.
Let me guess, then reply to you “huh?! I never said that!!”
Nah, just deletes everything. I think he doesn’t do the “I didn’t say that” schtick because everyone can see that there’ll be like 7 "Post was deleted by author"s in the thread.
Considering how much of a memory hog modern browsers are, adding more ram pretty much always helps tbh (unless it’s like a situation where you quad channel and lose performance because of a compromise in bandwidth)
True, but I would only upgraded my rig entirely to play a game that can’t be played otherwise. In the last 12 years I’ve never upgraded my CPU (it’s the same AMD Phenomenon 3.2 quad-core), but have “upgraded” my videocard four time thru lifetime warranty (each time they burned out), RAM (burned out), MB (burned out). I haven’t upgraded because I wanted to per se, but was force too. As soon as I can run what I what to play, I’ll invest in a new rig.
For a lot of people, absolutely. I, myself am currently using 10 tabs.
I know there are some caveats but overall, you are correct.
Fair bit of individuals out there who know little about computers and want their system to really come alive but upgrade the wrong things. Little over 20 years ago when I worked as an entry level tech, the most common was RAM lol. People would come up, want to add a stick or two and expected their PC to double in speed, even if you explained that’s not how it works, they’d still call up and say “I don’t notice much of an improvement”.
Do you use your PC only for playing games and nothing else? With a CPU like that even daily OS operation should be a bit of a slog tbh. A little better if you’re running Linux, but if you’re on a modern version of Windows (AKA any version that still has security updates), then it’s gonna be a bit rough.
Ah, fair. Tbf, I do need a lot of ram. Not only do I open lots of browser windows but I’m always running like 4 or 5 instances of VScode, servers and other things like that. Even with 32 gigs I’m starting to find it a bit rough.
I actually built my newer system in May of last year, right before D4 dropped. And installed a used 3070 Ti launch day.
Ran well, but its much better with the 4080 Super FE that I bought in Jan that drives the 32" 1440 monitor at 165 with max settings.
12900k, 32GB DDR5, bunch of other fast things… yadda yadda…
Believe it or not, I’m actually considering trying to snatch a 5090FE when they launch. Then sell the 4080 Super if I manage that since it would help eat back the cost of that upgrade.
And I still have the 3070 Ti for a backup. lol
I believe it or not, I have zero issues running my daily operations (browsing, docs, streaming, etc). Idk how you use you rig. Do you run 6 streaming services simultaneously, while you browse the web and …?
It’ll vary from person to person. How many tabs you have open, what those tabs consist of (some of mine are under 100MB, some are 600MB), what programs you use/have open, what connections you have, any hardware bottlenecks, if/what you’re streaming, etc.
Some may never have known issues and the system’s performance may be fine/adequate to them. Just had a tech talk with a guy who still owns and games on an older 1080p TV, says it’s just fine to him, has no desire to upgrade, even for his PS5.
