As I said before; doesn’t matter. It ain’t gonna solve anything. You’re creating a wider gap that calls for exceptions and your suggestion simply brings more strain to server traffic.
All I see you is talking about bringing “strain to server traffic”. Combination of skills does not bring any heavy loads into the servers, as long as there is nothing new added ( like items and such ). Remember when they wanted to add more stash tabs? THAT brings heavy traffic to the servers, and not a combination of older skills.
With your mentality, this new season, would of seen huge server loads with the theme season with massive dmg buff and whatever new things comes with that buff.
Anyway give me a solid reason , beside the “server loads”, as to why my no 1 and 2 from my OP post, does not bring diversity into d3.
Nobody wants a potential DoT stack, disoriented area damage and more calculations. Also as I said before, there will be only one true best combo if you remove that restriction because every legendary in the game designed with that limits in mind. You ain’t supposed to combine Furnace with Executioner in the Cube, while keeping all the damage and defense boosts from your full fledged Set. There’s no draw back to this neither any penalty.
Whether you’d “personally” abuse it or not is irrelevant to the situation as it would break the game’s current mindset and different exceptions meant to be pulled to keep the calculations down and maintain balance with diversity.
This is way worse than any sort of “Best in Slot” problem in the surface, you’re looking to create “The Best in Slot”, one and only. That’s not diversity by any means.
Want another Cube slot? You can be wary about your Follower’s equipment and don’t go for “the best follower”, here’s your fourth slot. If that didn’t satisfy you however there should be a drawback to a real 4th Kanai’s cube slot. I say just request another Follower token that binds your Follower’s weapon or one of the jewelry slot with Kanai’s cube at the cost of making them mortal again.
Alas I can see reddit and forums pressuring developers to create one with full fledged invulnerability token with Kanai slot bind. Because who cares about the game’s integrity after this point? Am I right?
No, you are very wrong. Again, based on your “ideology”, then “…here! have this 1 weapon, 1 set of armor and 1 set jewels and play the game”, is …enough right?
So why add other items and skills and powers and such?!
…exactly! You are way around this.
A very good exemple of what I said, is PoE with their diverse items and builds and such. There are more then 1 viable build per class with a lot more items to support X build then “just a set” of items which are set in stone.
So yea, there is that. Nothing is irrelevant if done right. More diversity is ALWAYS good, even if just 1-2 builds will be the best of the best.
So when were the sets removed from D3 Classic, there were sets right up to RoS release
When you remove that restriction some combinations will be best. I gave example of Furnace-Executioner as it’s obvious it will be a staple combination for many traditional Sets. Other option is boasting the skill damage powers from different multiple legendaries and using different spenders. If we are talking about LoD/LoN, I can see people stacking damage proc legendaries there to rain meteors, lightnings and frozen orbs all over the place.
In case player can overwhelm the mobs by being a glass cannon, this will make it pointless to build a character with defense and utility elements.
That’s what I meant with massed calculations; whether it’s for LoN/D or traditional class Sets, people will find a way to mass area damage and damage over time ticks which will mess up server traffic on a dense moment.
Fun? Yes. Optimized for server strain? No.
And of course, this model have to suffice with this pre-made Sets nonsense.
If you want freedom on your choices then think of a retro-active way to include Rare quality into the equation; perhaps secondary utility affixes synergizing with more skills may be a thing.
But oh wait… Sorry, developers are not allowed to design the game that way to make Rares matter anymore than mere cannon fodder. Because it’s a risk of creating another underground market… Oh how fun…
You’re talking about homogenizing the entire thing into ONE combination because you didn’t like each seven class with 3-4 different specs having mutual BiS items for pushes. That’s not solving anything, that’s creating another problem.
Set item didn’t get removed in D3 Classic. It is just so trashy that no one is using them. Doesn’t change the fact even without set items, people still lean toward BiS for their character in the end.
Ugh god…this thread is like a private chatroom of obsessed POE number-crunchers.
D3 is almost 8 years old. We’re not getting more cube slots or anything groundbreaking. Just minor fluff content like useless sets and negligible tweaking.
Deal with it and find something more interesting to yap endlessly about.
If you remove sets then LoN goes. So LoD will have to disappear too. It will almost be like being back to the classic D3 days just without the AH, being OP at Inferno difficulty with Para 6000+ boasting about how they can clear a Torment 6 rift in 2 minutes.
