Game loads fine, but when I select character the game kicks out to desktop. I have to ctrl/alt/delete and end task to end game. Pc is more than capable of running game. Computer and graphics card are up to date. Is anyone else having this/similar issue?

Have you done any type of troubleshooting ? See the recommended steps below – the words in blue are links to additional information. Go through the list, including Advanced Troubleshooting, and try the various steps.
If that doesn’t solve it, you should post a DxDiag report in your reply; please post the DxDiag between 2 lines of 4 tildes – that will put the report in a scroll box instead of a massive wall of text – like this:
