Diablo IV: Necromancer & 2023 Release Confirmed

Exactly. Met this kinda childish hostile discussion myself on here. And in the end it’s simply not worth it. Grown people should be able to debate and allow others to have different opinions, than to throw a tantrum and go nuts about it.

i’d rather my char move at 500% move speed than use a mount, but that’s just me

There is no holy retreat.

Just out of curiosity, what are the main differences between the D3 and DI Necro?

I was similarly disappointed in the D3 Necro. It was cool in aesthetics-only. But the playstyle fell short for me.

I also am not really a mobile gamer, and likely won’t try D:I.

So I was wondering what some of those differences were? Thank you for any information:)

I assume? it has to do with the ‘open world’ thing.

Hopefully! there’s a fast travel system!

But I do remember in Skyrim and Assassin’s Creed, trying to manually travel from city to city without a mount was a drag.

So I think it’s something they’re mainly adding to traverse this new open world aspect, otherwise it might be a similar slog.

^Precisely!

The D3 Necromancer failed on so many counts: The relatively small army. The minions themselves not doing the damage, but rather buffing the damage of player’s spells (I understand this was eventually patched, but in a too little, too late, way). And the fact that you spent all your micro simply re-summoning the army, as if they weren’t actually minions but spells, instead of spending your micro controlling or supporting army.

^All of those really ruined the feel of the Necromancer for me in D3.

And that doesn’t even get into people who weren’t able to recapture the fantasy of their other favorite Necromancer styles, like how Curses, Corpse Explosion, or Iron Maiden played.

But yes, I hope D4 takes a more D2 Necro/D3 Witch Doctor approach, with a LARGE army of permanent summons doing MEANINGFUL damage. Then D4 can inprove upon it by giving us more opportunities to micro, control, or support our minions.

Nowadays I see that when ever there’s a summoner or specificly necromancer class, the number of minions are very low. 8-10 seems to be sweet spot in recent games. Even Grim Dawn. Last Epoch seems to brake whit that, but I only saw gameplay footage, so I might be wrong. PoE I don’t know because I don’t care for that game at all.

So right now what we saw, we will have 8 permanent minions total. 4 skely warriors, 3 skely mages and a golem. I could roll whit more, like double the total amount. The revive skill, if still in the game, could provide is whit more, but temporary minions, which I also could roll whit.

That would be the equivalent of botting aka sitting back & letting the game play itself. Low minion count is where it should be.

Yeah I mean there should be compensation. More minions, but less minions dmg, so 16 minions would do the same dmg as 8. 8minions is not an army, it’s my inner circle of frends.

No they are meatshields that cowards use who are incapable of gearing properly.

It is all just a master of balancing. Like if you summon “too many” minions you get weaker, take more dmg, have a constant health drain etc.
There is no reason many minion should mean easy mode.

And I can only agree that necro needs to be able to reach 20-30 non-temporary minions for it to feel like a necro class.
