Diablo III PTR 2.7.6 - Has Concluded

Altar won’t be in S29, but will transfer over with S30 and beyond (when the seasons recycle).

We know the community enjoyed the Season 28 mechanic but did want to note that the Altar of Rites from S28 will return permanently beginning in Season 30 (after this new season).

Pez who hasn’t found out there is a forum for the community he is responsible for.

100% agreement there.

For love of god… at least post on your own forums… then post elsewhere.

Thanks for the info.

Starter sets will be IK, Light, Natalya, Uliana, Trag’Oul, Arachyr, Vyr if they’re keeping the rotation.

Which is also unclear. Will we get an old season theme PLUS the altar?
Or permanent altar season?
Are we supposed to permanently hunt the blasted Gibstone?

I can’t imagine the power creep from Altar of Rites as it is with combination of Ethereals, Soulstones, Pandemonium, Tempest or Shadows. Too many flags to keep record of attributes on the character files and way too many position check dependent damage calculations. Perhaps that’s why they want to give a small break of one season inbetween; to alleviate the server issues and look for improving its capacity.

I only can guess but I think if Altar were to return it will be only QoL features (longer killstreak window, pet salvaging and picking up mats… ) at first to pair with the other repeating Seasonal themes successfully. Only we could see its full power once in a while and force ourselves to farm rare obscure materials.

Guardian set will be extremely powerful like BiS for builds that can use it if they limit paragon points to only 800.

It won’t be a permanent altar season forever. Starting with S30, they are going to start recycling the old seasons.

But for each character ‘reset’ with each new (recycled) season, the altar would need to be run through each time. That’s how I suspect it will work.

But dang. The altar plus Ethereals? Sanctified items? Soul Shards? Extra cube slot?

They are deliberately vague if this is S29 only or season permanent.
I doubt they will gank 10000 Paragon non season players though.

Cluckeye is going to be removed from the DH drop pool, right?

Thank you for adding the Vigilante Belt!

Idk I’m automatically there for those seasons just to feel the ridiculousness especially Ethereals with Altar!

The decision not to include Altar in S29 is odd however I guess makes sense if their attempt is to focus solely on the last new theme for D3. If you have Altar it will overshadow whatever this theme is going to give.

I don’t feel it’s vague. Historically, changes that were always intended to be made to non season at the start were explicitly stated as so. E.g. follower gear, primal crafting.

Could it be something they decide later near the end of a season? Possibly. E.g. Echoing Nightmares, Altar.

But I agree, I doubt they will erase up to 19,200 paragon from the players.

Also I love that ‘oh no…can’t get 100% movement speed…too OP, but 200% AD before gearing a-okay!’

Welp, I don’t have to say don’t ever change

I’m looking forward to seeing the Hardcore SSF leaderboards. Yes, you can bot your way to better gear by botting bounty mats, But with a paragon cap, I don’t think great gear + mediocre skill will trump mediocre gear + great level skill.

Angry Chicken buff!!!

I still agree 800 feels low, but it shouldn’t affect the season’s journey.

The issue is that it kind of removes a part of incentive to continue playing after completing the Journey.

Yeah, you need about 2K paragon in mainstat (plus some augments ofc) for Aughild’s to start outperforming Guardian. Without nerfing Guardian, the cap would have to be at 3K or higher (which would pretty much make it pointless because most players don’t reach that) to make the other sets viable unless they also get massively buffed.

SSF and paragon capping has long been a request of mine. I’m sure they’ll raise the cap. It should probably be closer to 2k or they should slow down how fast we get the 800.

Haedrigs will still make the start much easier than normal but that’s fine.

alts and full primals i guess. The pros outweigh the cons and those that don’t like it can skip ssf.

Yes-ish, but it more just moves power advancement to the minor stat sticks you find. Which increases farming motivation. A hell of a lot more changes need to be made to turn it into a decent loot hunter, but this could be the start of a hybridization model maybe.
